both sides it is the same car - a ford focus. the point is that the truck on the left side has a crash absorbing barrier under its bed, which helps the crash deforming elements of the car to reduce speed. as you can see on the right side, there is no barrier. the car skids under the truck and has no chance to protect the occupants.
A passanger wearing seatbelts in the backseat would probaby walk away with no harm but a few bruises. See at the intact survival space in the back seat, even in the red car.

Not true, the camry got a 5 star in frontal, which the focus aparently suched in, and the camry has a uni-body construction so the top of the car wouldnt gave as easily because of the steel re-inforcements.
the actual point of the test was that the laws in europe for these bars are still to weak. The ADAC proposed a reinforced bar as used in the case of the blue focus. Just imagine, this is about a (relatively) few dollars per truck in construction costs, has an immense impact in road safety in general, and still getting these laws through is slow slow slow due to lobbying from god knows who (truck manufacturers?)
