  • Trade unions where created to prevent factory owners like Richard Arkwright from making his workers, work 13 hours a day 6 days a week for peanuts. What we got was union bosses, high on power throwing there weight around (Scargill) Trade unionism killed :- heavy industry, coal mining, car production, newspaper printing etc etc etc. A union is simply the organised voice for a group of workers. It should have no political ambitions or axe to grind. Does that actually sound like any union you know?

  • Anyone who is anti trade union must be off their heads or too young to be earning a wage especially in this day and age.

  • Muhammad, the prophet of Islam and supreme example of conduct for the Muslim (cf. Qur'an 33:21), said: "Whoever changes his Islamic religion, then kill him." (Bukhari 9.84.57)

"Iran arrests dozens of converts from Islam to Christianity"

  • @menodimi1 Thanks for those enlightened comments about the trade unions. You made a sterling contribution to the intellectual debate.

  • misery at virgin??? get real gobby...They want their company to make a profit..and they do...typical union man,it wasnt the unions fault noone wanted to buy the car factory? who wants to buy a load of militants??? your a nobody get back in the jungle

  • great interview. It exposes the wrot within BA's bullying management.

  • The other significant point I have is that BA's cabin crew union UNITE also represent cabin crews of rival airlines that are paid lower than those of BA. It is therefore not solely due to the work of UNITE that BA cabin crews are well paid.

  • It is due to the recession and not Willie Walsh that BA is in record debts. The economic crisis means that business travellers are not taking as many trips, and BA's core demographic is business travellers.

  • Great stuff, galloway is allways great to listen to.

  • fantastic G...

  • Wow, there is someone who really tells how it is

  • GG , a sensible comment re BA crew,,,,,

a temp job in the 70's ... hardly relevant

,,,, people want to fly BA , and they must to fly for a reason ,,, its walsh's managemnt that have run it into the ground , messed up T5 , made a bollox of T5 , a fine of £300 million , not the workers .......

  • Thanks George! Voice of SENSE and not untrue headlines!

  • Hallelujah, the voice of reason at last.!!

  • Finally someone who knows the reasons for BA's cabin crew strike. A very well thought out and valid argument. Thank you George

  • Amazing...absolutely amazing....when the majority of ballot holders, vote Yes in favour of strike action over a ruthless leadership style, you'd think that maybe the public would think that there would be some truth in the matter. Instead, the crew are made to look like the bloody fools who've instigated all of this. Its the crew that being victimised here.

  • Cheers George!

  • Thank you George....a very well thought out arguement ,then again some people are just so short sighted. Educate yourselves and find out what Walsh is all about and what sort of CEO he really is. Speaking from experience not a good one, I can assure! It's like working for a totalitarian organisation. BA like to manage the communication the best way they know how (ONE WAY). But the truth will prevail and we will speak out against injustice. Mr Galloway, you are to be commended. Thank You!
