  • So I wish that the park was still like this...

  • That's fricken crazy!

  • It will never be like that again. :(

  • It's nice seeing Hollywood Backlot without all of the Electronica "decorations"

  • if i where all alone in the park i would take a wicked relaxing shit.

  • wats DCA

  • @kittkatkitty1 Seriously? Disney California Adventure -.-

  • who cares. just enjoy your theme park. each theme park has its pros and cons, okay?

  • @danielleymc6 Exactly! Lets not turn this into an other X vs. X war. There all cool!

  • DCA took awhile to "catch on". I was working inside Disneyland when it opened. The first 2-3 months it rained a LOT. There was no park-hopper tickets sold, and each Park was full price. MANY guests actually told me they were mad that Disney built it because they felt Disneyland was so special it should be kept the way it is and not have the other Park so close. This surprised me, as I loved BOTH parks (still do). Then 9/11/2001 happened. So, the first few years were very rocky.

  • what is the music called?

  • What's the name of the music for this!?! Ben looking for it everywhere!!!!!

  • Well Atleast there was no lines....

  • I guess everyone died from the twilight zone elevator ride. Lol

  • OMG I remember this! My family went in 2001 as well, and it wasn't as dead as in this video, but they were seriously lacking tourists...

  • If you were in this park when it opened, you would only know you were in the Disneyland resort when you saw the MIckey Mouse ears on the Roller Coaster, otherwise... well Its much better now, I can't wait till all the construction is done there.

  • disneyland is tight

  • Sad DCA sucked when i first open and till now at least there trying to fix it up a little

  • CA adventures is the worst theme park I've ever been to.

  • Imagine if they had WOC back then...

  • Lol. I remember my little sister was at DCA and she saw the picture of the rest of the road and buildings. She tried going there lol..

  • why were there people taking pictures at the entrance to Hollywood backlot studios?

  • disneyworld is a FAIL... DISNEYLAND ALL THE WAY!!! who's with me!

  • @samusc13572468 You got that right!

  • @samusc13572468 Do you not realize that Disney World had 6 parks, while disneyland has 2? Or the facct that disney world has dozens of hotels, while disneyland has, what, 3? Disney Worlds better, no argument.

  • @diamondkyle15 Do you realize Disneyland has the better version of tower of terror, do you realize disneyland has the better version of space mountain, toontown, indiana jones adventure, the first steal roller coaster in the world, oh and that it was the first and only park Walt ever saw created.

Disneyland is better. Oh and Disneyland is the most attended theme park in the world.

  • @Smallpoxproductions Who cares who created it, and who cares about the first steel coaster. The tower of terror here has larger drops, we have 3X as many rides, your space mountain is shitty, we have dinosaur and you have indiana jones, but we have the indiana jones live stunt show and you dont, so dont try to talk shit. And Disney World is the number one most attended theme park in the world. Magic Kingdom has more than Disneyland, and that doesnt include the other parks. Get ur shit right.

  • @diamondkyle15 Yea but your tower of terror has a cheesy narration and voice audio. Our space mountain is longer and has a real soundtrack. Yours and it wasn't till recently only has music through speakers in the building. Oh and your wrong about magic Kingdom having more visitors. It has had more in recent years on a year by year basis. Disneyland has the largest Cumulative attendance of any theme park in the history of man kind. Magic kingdom has a lot of catching up to do.

  • @Smallpoxproductions You're really gonna debate which is is better? How childish.

  • @samusc13572468 Hecks yea its just what the immagineers thought Disney would think of

  • @samusc13572468 Disneyland is superior. But I can't say Disneyworld is a fail. i mean it's not as good, but when you're a Disney fan, why be against one park? I mean both are great parks and disney world doesn't have the same magic, but it is the #1 Tourist destination . We should all be appreaciative of all the disney parks

  • @samusc13572468 disneyland is better, but we shouldn't nag on Disenyworld. It was great and it was Walt's plan and idea. We shouldn't rag on one disney resort and love the other, we should like all of them.

  • the original DCA

    before tower, and bugs

  • Was Soarin' open then???

  • @girlofGod1shirley yes, soaring was open there when the park first opened

  • omg if u guys think that disneyland is amazing then u should go to disneyworld!

  • is it closed.

  • it's so pretty at night. :D

But the prettiest at sunset. ^____^

  • i always thought it was magical, just missing a little "oomph" . they're fixing that missing oomph as we speak :D cant wait till its done. I personally love being their at night, walking by the water (across from screamin)

  • i wish i lived in disneyland for the rest of my life! <3 i love disneyland its so great! <3

  • Omgg that wood be soo awsomee

  • thanx for posting this you made my day... you helped me remember wen i wuz 6 and i went and how cool it wuz

  • This would be awsome, go on River Run with nobody on it........I would ride all night then go to Muppets! ;)

  • What's so funny is that now dca is super popular!

  • hmmm....

  • thats wierd i love dca from the day it opened even though it didnt have as many rides

  • How sad. But that would be awesome, you have to admit.

  • why is it dark?

  • paradise pier is fun but the hollywood part is also fun

  • they should have made more rides before opening the park

  • what happened to everyone..? lol

  • Cloaking technology. :P

  • the abc bistro was such a cool place but they got rid of it

  • @delilahrock10777 see my video of abc bistro. :0)

  • @infaMOUSEproject Hey was California Screamin there? What about Mullholand Madness?

  • o.o poor DCA

  • Woah, it's so pretty!

Now this place is all crowded :O

  • I noticed the parade was going at one point in the video.. obviously people were going to flock to see that. Did you see the crowds gathered around the entrance? I thought you said you were all alone.

  • you know its pretty anyway but its gorgeous when your by yoursle fand no line eiter! :-)

  • hey your not alone in 1:21 theres someone there with you by some store by the trees

  • Part of the problem was the price. While it was less than the price to Disneyland, it wasn't significantly less.

At the time, there were only about 5 or 6 rides. Who wants to pay $40 for a park with a few rides when for $15 more you can go across the street to a park with a lot more?

It was pretty much just the roller coaster, the ferris wheel, Soarin, some Fantasyland type ride about seeing the stars & maybe a ride or 2 more. There was no point to travel or pay extra to go to that park.

  • hey thats cool and i would love 2 go there but i have been to disneyworld and thats awesome too

  • what's the song called? I love that music but can never find it.

  • Mcqueen and Sally. Its off the Cars soundtrack.

  • the 1.1 billion dollar renovation should attract much much much more people. the World of Color looks amazing! Carsland coming into the park. Country Bear Jamboree maybe returning. Goofy's Sky Skool, and so much more. I love Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure!

  • The new attractions will be awesome, but the problem is... Where is the California theme in all that? They're just adding a bunch of really cool stuff without any real tie-in.

From that standpoint, I think that DCA was a flawed idea from the start. Disney would have been a lot better off if the Westcot idea took off in the early 90's.

When Paul Pressler got hold of the DCA idea, he created a multi-million dollar disaster that the current administration has to fix.

  • true. I think Disney would have been A LOT better off if the Westcot idea took off earilier, but good job, Paul Pressler. He had to ruin it.

  • Cool !!1

  • wow your actually there alone!!

cause the light show ends right byy the hollywood thing. trust me i would no i sat there! just monday night. so aha

  • it's the electric parade.

my favorite show at dca is Aladdin show.

    so funny!:]

  • whoa even if it was the parade. dude i would love that.

  • that was because everyone was at the light parade. The rest of the park tends to die when thats going on because the park itself closes when its over.

  • BTW, is the music you used from Cars? It sounds familiar.

  • ahahahahah!....wow...that's sad...

  • this is a historic moment.

the day nobody went to dca.

  • they are all watching the parade as you can tell but it feels like your alone cuz no ones around you ... its so weird seeing the park without tower of terror. and im sure it was fun being able to walk around without other people runnin into you

  • wow that's weird thiers always a million people there.

  • How come it's always crowded when I'm there?! Darn.

  • Thank you for these videos this reminds me of really fun times i had with ma grandma

  • I was just there, and i WISH it was like this!

  • they were watching something i guess?

  • You're not all alone! There's a person at 1:20.

  • This is just sad.

  • hmmm yea in the beginning DCA didnt go out very well......i went there cuz i felt bad they created it and no one was there. but slowly its catching on with more visitors=)

  • Too bad it didn't take off so well, but then again, where was Disney going with a "California" theme??

  • Um, the park is IN California?

  • now how come when i go there it's packed!!! lol

  • Uh... i guess this was when it first opened... peeps were like... uh... looks weird

  • wouldn't you think there isn't anyone because it is already late

  • With the new remodel of DCA it should attract much more people. The water show looks like it will be awesome and the new lands and rides I can't wait to try.

Trial and error, but then Walt had that with Disneyland, too, in the beginning.

  • So, is Dis Cal. Adven. doing well now? I didn't go when I was out there.

  • hey, tower of terror isnt there.. that way you know this is old...

  • Tower of terror didnt come intill a year later, in 2002

  • WAIT I was wrong! It came in 2004

  • why so random in description? you know it only works in the tags, you find videos by the tags not descriptions.

  • Uh... no. Words in the description also come through in searching.

  • especialy the tags though. MOSTLY tags.

  • california adventure is awesome!

  • thats in disneyworld too, during the parade and fireworks the lines to good rides are really short

  • that would probably be scary

  • You all must remember that in 2001, California Adventure had a very tough time making sales due to the high expectations of being compared to Disneyland park. Part of it was due to word of mouth prior to the park's official opening when a "soft" opening was held for invited guests and the press. Many felt that it lacked certain aspects that disney would normally incorporate in its initial planning and themeing.

  • that isn't entirely true. all theme parks suffered in attendance after the Sept. 11 attacks that occurred that same year. DCA opened that same year.

  • this isn't normal operation time, this is either very late at night or a special event

  • the park's not that bad.. plus, it's probably while the Electrical parade is going on, and I bet you paradise pier is still pretty much packed.

  • It's never like this now

  • wow i'd love to be there with my friends if it was like that ^_^

  • wow, i'd LOVE to be there with my friends and no one else. we'd totally destroy the park hahaha. but it'd be so much fun :) i love dca.

  • is this when they first opened DCA? because I went like more than 4 years ago and it was packed

  • hahaha when was this on a week day? when i go usually ther is tons of people there, but not like disney land, they packed no matter wat day

  • I think it was during a parade or something because at 1:01 it looks like they're watching something : )

  • yes, but even during parade, there are still TONS of people roaming about

  • Haha true

  • omg i love the song u but on this

  • wow this an old video this is way before tower of terror great video tho

  • this is hecka weird. to be in the park when there's nobody around. i wish disneyland was like that.

  • Creepy.....

    I'd be scared.

  • its funny you just see nothing were Tower of Terror is today, and Monsters Inc use to be a Limo Ride but broke down to much, andthen Monsters inc :P

  • I ♥ DISNEYLAND!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Me too I get sad everytime I leave

  • Those where the good ole days when i would go to work get paid and do nothing

  • If me and my friend got locked in we would call 911 to help us!!!

  • Aw no Tower of Terror at that time or Monsters Inc...man i would have loved to have been in a park that was empty!!!

  • lol, theres a giant hole where HTH should be

  • now dca and disneyland has an eaqual amount of people and tower of terror where it stands now with out it the park is no fun with out maliboomer either!

  • Remember when the Disneyland Park in Paris opened? They had trouble getting people to

go there for a while after it's opening.

  • i did the same thing because the ride we were on broke down and we didnt get off till after the park had closed is was cool

  • Oh what was at the time you took that video? Amazing.

  • I have seen Disneyland pretty empty either early in the morning or real late at night. But we went to DCA 2 months after it opened and it was pretty busy. Not like Disneyland but good enough. Also, the Electrical Parade is just at closing so people leave right after it is over. It doesn't stay open at night very often.

  • The CA side is awesome in it's own way. No, it's not Disneyland, but it isn't supposed to be. It looked like there was a parade going on when this shot was taken. Give CA a chance!

  • was there a parade goin on??

  • It's so empty! I've never seen a Disney Park so empty

  • If u guys saw the ppl were at the entrance of Hollywodd pictuers backlot, I think it was because a parade???

  • wow, it's a real simulation of California History: A total ghosttown

  • why is it empty :?

  • Parade, I think

  • freakiness...... I think the next zombeh movie should be in disneyland. Zombies listen to me... Disneyland and Disney california adventure is the one place to attack I mean millions and millions of people go there. Think of how many zombies there will be.

  • I always find these parks kind of melancholy when no one is in them. Maybe it's because I'm always depressed when i have to leave them. ;_;

  • this must be great being all alone! ALL RIDES HAVE NO LINE UPS! lol!

  • cosy movie.

  • ca. adv. is certainly worth visiting. of course its not disneyland, but what is? soaring over calif. is worth the price of admission alone. tower of terror is cool. there is plenty to see and do,and when the remodling is finished there will be a lot more to see.

  • both times i went there it was just as packed as regular disney

  • howd u get to go by urself? wat were all those ppl doing?

  • poor DCA :(

  • That was probably during Fantasmic. Or however you spell it =P

  • I've never been to DCA and I really regret it. But I am looking forward to the Cars thingy and the new rides there getting especially the Little Mermaid ride!!! :D

  • yah the new ride is awesome, i went on it

  • OMG! Is it still like that? I've been back to Disneyland 5 or 6 times since DCA opened, and I always made a concious effort not to go there because I think the Magic Kingdom is the original and only park in CA worth visiting. I thought it had taken off a bit better than that. Surely, it's got better attendance than this now. I've even been considering getting dual-park passes when I go back next time. Is the experience even worth it though? Inquiring minds :-D

  • it looks like it was shot during a parade...

  • I remember DCA, I love the Alladin show. Aren't they gonna make a toy story ride? If so, they're not gonna replace the muppets show right?

  • The Toy Story ride is over by California Screamin'. It's a mix of ride and shooting game. Like the Buzz Lightyear ride in Tomorrowland. It opens up next month.

Muppets 3D is over by ToT.

  • Another great upload. 5 stars.

The next few years with the changes to CA are gonna be great. The plans they have in store are gonna make the park feel more like a Disney park than just some Amusement park across from Disneyland.

  • so sad! i'm glad caa is getting a facelift as well as a new ride in june! can't wait to go soon! :)
