Truly shoegazing to the hilt. As far as these kids are concerned, their playing in the basement by themselves. They're obvlious to the audiance and just concerned with the quality of their music.

omg i can't really believe those days existed.with ride, stone roses, charlatans, slowdive, chapterhouse and later suede blur pulp etc...I am fucking cursed that I wasn't born then. And I am sick that oasis got more famous than these guys althought i like some oasis songs but they are not even close to this. And I won't even talk about todays popular music.from slipknot to lady gaga, sick of that shite
@placebo150 bang on, oasis pale into comparison to all these bands who forged the way for them. this was a great time in music...in fact I was at this gig!
and @paulaus you're right they were FUCKIN LOUD! my ears rang for 3 days ;¬)
i never managed to get to see them,i had all there eps etc, outstanding, and the artwork and quality of the sleeves was differant class, ride were fuckin quality.
amazing. We saw them live around this time and an unknown band called The Verve (then called Verve) were supporting them. They were brilliant and I will never forget it. They came on stage to Steve Miller's "Fly like and eagle".
@aquablushgirl Oh yeah! I remember Richard Ashcroft had really bushy long hair and incence sticks burning away on his mic-stand at this gig. The verve were pretty intense, the crowd were pretty chilled; the calm before the storm of RIDE. :)
yeah briliant but why hadnt i heard of them at the time like the carpets roses charlatans and mondays??? not good enough music lovin circle of friends in northern ireland lol.
I've always resented the fact that Oasis have always ripped off the likes of Ride, Swervedriver, Catherine Wheel, and My Bloody Valentine, and got away with it, and became so fucking huge, while Andy Bell wound up hired to play bass for them, when Noel Gallagher should be licking his fucking toe nails instead. No better evidence than this.
That would be great. In someways they are bigger now than they were then. Unfortunately I think the reunion might be put off for a while though because Liam Gallagher is continuing with the other members of Oasis as a new band. Plus they are all pretty busy with other things.
This like sound's like a hacked up version of Brittany Spear's 'circus'. Ride needs to like get a life and stop ripping off REAL Musical talent artists. Maybe if they stopped trying to be cool they could actually be cool and actually known like Miley Cyrus.
This is not cool. you are not cool. if so youd know that billy ray cyrus's 'achy breaky heart' was so much cooler than this. stop trying to be cool by saying that others arent cool because they are preoccupied by what is cool and not cool and actually care that they're cool rather than being uncool like Ride. maybe then youd figure out that being cool is actually cooler than being uncool.
Man, you're just following the 'Conformist's Cool', just going on what is acceptably cool. But guess what, that's not cool. You need to define your own cool.
Incidentally, if you want to read my book, there's a pretty good discussion of the socio-zeitilogical impact of coolness on todays anthropolitigurical culture (and related sub-cultures).
this song was re;eased about ten year before brittany spears was out you stupid tit, so fuck off and get sum knowledge , the guitarists played bass for oasis for last 8 year you fuckin fool
Goosebumps Baby! Goosebumps! This was one of the great songs from back in the day and still is. The power and energy just keeps building and building throughout the song! Total badass on the drums! How awesome!!!
The swirling guitar sounds that (in this video) come in at 1:01 on the record version are about as trancendent, psychedelic, and otherworldy as guitar can get. Pure magic. I just play those few verses over and over. This version is still very good, but the studio version is freakish.
Good call, that was my first thought as well. Maybe Andy can hire Noel... LOL I was lucky enough to see Ride on this tour in the states - changed everything I think about music.
loz was the best drummer of that era for sure he drove the band in the way keith moon of THE WHO did tho the styles of drumming were slightly different.
ah I love that bass line from the beginning of Time Machine. Ride is effing great, always wondered why people called them Shoegaze though, they were in that scene but def not that style of music. Still one of the better bands out there
Loz Colbert.. as a drummer here, one of my top 3 drummers by influence. Others include Mark Brzezecki of Big Country and Stuart Copeland of the Police. I saw these guys on this tour in the US. Portland Oregon 1992. Was amazing. Thanks RIDE, for the great music and memories.
they broke up towards the end of 1995 (correct me if im off) because Mark and Andy fell out about the direction the band was gonna go. artist disputes.
its all mended nowadays though, they even admit they'd love to work together and they're open minded about a reunion.
I went to the second (I think it was after Brighton) show in Blackool. Great memories...would have been 14 or 15, me and a mate on the train from B'Ham with about a dozen cans of Stella drinking out of McDonalds cups. What a night...:)
I didn't know they toured together. I saw Ride with Lush one year and Slowdive the next. Ride was my favorite band!!! As I get older though I think The Verve is better. Ashcroft is pure genius!!! But they are for sure my top 2.
yeah they toured together, verve had just released the all in the mind ep and i remember richard barefoot on stage,it was a great gig.i love the verve but to me ride are the better band.leave them all behind is a massive song, the best anthem of the '90's.however as much as i love the first two albums i personally think that carnival of light and tarantula were much better, they were really maturing as songwriters and musicians, they were definitely ahead of their time.they still sound fresh today.
dude they played in 92 in new jersey at city gardens (in trenton) i was 15, my momy and dady wouldnt let me go....i had a english final exam the next day (of coarse the show was on a tuesday) 3 of my friends went, the show changed their lives! ride opened with this! i survived missing this, barely, but i cant say my parents did! they should have let me go!!
...epic song. How I forgot about Ride I'll never know, but one day that intro came back to me and made me think I'm sure that belongs to some tune ,of some band from me youth...thank god I remembered they were called Ride and the song was called going blamk again.
I was there! Brixton was my fav venue, indoor standing in a dodgy part of london. Mercury rev were the warm up & did a great version of ghost town which i'll never forget, ride came on 2 this song & the place went wild, which is not picked up in this video, I'm 6ft 4 & not bothered by a mosh pit but this is the only time I felt I was going to faint, the start 2 the song is 2 much & the crowd went bonkers, my feet hardly touched the floor & I ended up being passed back through the crowd..
i believe that was the point i was making minus the derogatory...placebo wants to be a modern version of ride but dont have the true shoegazor sense and sensibilities about them...almost with the first album but not quite
You should check out Calm As The Colour mate; we're heavily Ride influenced

...epic song.

Mercury rev were the warm up & did a great version of ghost town which i'll never forget, ride came on 2 this song & the place went wild, which is not picked up in this video, I'm 6ft 4 & not bothered by a mosh pit but this is the only time I felt I was going to faint, the start 2 the song is 2 much & the crowd went bonkers, my feet hardly touched the floor & I ended up being passed back through the crowd..

don't ever compare those faggots from placebo to this mind blowing band. ride would literally pound those faggots into dust there's no comparison
