  • You should check out Calm As The Colour mate; we're heavily Ride influenced

  • 20 years ago... still great... still better than everything out there at the moment!

  • I was born the day before this performance ! I really love Ride's vibe waves !

  • Solo wish I'd seen them live.....bring back the 90s when music was inspirational

  • Could they be anymore epic?

  • Truly shoegazing to the hilt. As far as these kids are concerned, their playing in the basement by themselves. They're obvlious to the audiance and just concerned with the quality of their music.

  • does anyone know where you get copies of this gig on dvd? BRILLIANT!!

  • No care about who dislikes this, in each vid we don't fucking care! just enjoy :)

  • Who was the one "Dislike" for this video? Have they been letting Noel Gallagher on YouTube?

  • How did this even get one 'dislike'?

  • Saw them on this tour, will never forget them playing this...

  • /watch?v=vkEUp9N1tEI This show, full set!

  • The live version is so like the album recording. A credit to very talented musicians. Not many bands can make live performances sound like the album track. Fantastic!!!

  • Oh how i wish i was there...

  • ça merite aucun commentaire.....un des morceaux les plus parfaits de tous les temps......

  • Wow, I can't believe how gorgeous these guys are! Oh, and phenomenal musicians as well ;)

  • so many ex-creation bands should have been huge.....Ride and Teenage Fanclub for starters.

  • one dislike to this track carnt believe it.............just leave him behind.......and the rest of us will flow .....wat a band..

  • lol at the one dislike. seems so out of place.

  • Each instrument got his own importance, you can clearly listen to each one, because its an assemblage of it all. that makes a great song.

  • TEMAZO!!!!

  • the bassline is... masterpiece!

  • love that radioactive, dual guitar meltdown at the end :)

  • Awesome. I don't know who put a dislike on this, but obviously someone who doesn't know what they're listening to. twat.

  • genius....

  • HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?! Seriously, phenomenal.

  • A timeless masterpiece.

  • Great drumming

  • epic

  • How old do you figure they are at this point? Coolest kids ever. Also, I like when band members wear their own band's shirts.

  • How old do you figure they are at this point? Coolest kids ever.

  • @gillart 20-ish

  • Does anyone really care about the colours?

  • This song (and this band) is completely awesome...

  • hi,can you get the complete concert for download??? it was to perfekt!!! wait a long time to get this on dvd:(

    thx

  • Neo-Psychedelia at its best :)

  • It's the intro that makes this record so good for me. Could easily have been an instruMENTAL.

Fond memories shuffling around on the dancefloor to this

  • is that a firebird with p-90s?

  • god, i love this song. wish it would go on forever.

  • What's the source of these Brixton videos?

  • @escriticapop a semi-official VHS (it's a pro recording as you can see but it was not a Creation release). you can find cheap copies on ebay

  • @crelp74 could you please tell the setlist?

  • Fucking *LOUDEST* band I ever saw

  • @paulaus

    youre never see slowdive:)

  • Great tune! reminds me of better times...

  • What kind of guitar is Andy playing here? The pickups look like Jazzmaster pickups but the guitar is not a Jazzmaster. (see 1:34, 3:15)

  • @plum209 looks like a non-reverse firebird

  • @sixfootsixmark bingo! thanks

  • @plum209 have been trying to post a link to a pic of miki berenyi from lush playing one, but it wont work, do a google image search for "non reverse firebird miki"

  • this is how you use a wha

  • omg i can't really believe those days existed.with ride, stone roses, charlatans, slowdive, chapterhouse and later suede blur pulp etc...I am fucking cursed that I wasn't born then. And I am sick that oasis got more famous than these guys althought i like some oasis songs but they are not even close to this. And I won't even talk about todays popular music.from slipknot to lady gaga, sick of that shite

  • @placebo150 bang on, oasis pale into comparison to all these bands who forged the way for them. this was a great time in music...in fact I was at this gig!

and @paulaus you're right they were FUCKIN LOUD! my ears rang for 3 days ;¬)

  • @placebo150

They were fab times I must admit. I saw a lot ot the bands you mentioned live but I never saw The Stone Roses which is a huge regret of mine.

  • ride what a outstanding band ! just amazeing so underated such a shame allmost love them as much as oasis allmost !

  • i never managed to get to see them,i had all there eps etc, outstanding, and the artwork and quality of the sleeves was differant class, ride were fuckin quality.

  • amazing. We saw them live around this time and an unknown band called The Verve (then called Verve) were supporting them. They were brilliant and I will never forget it. They came on stage to Steve Miller's "Fly like and eagle".

    so atmospheric.

  • @aquablushgirl Oh yeah! I remember Richard Ashcroft had really bushy long hair and incence sticks burning away on his mic-stand at this gig. The verve were pretty intense, the crowd were pretty chilled; the calm before the storm of RIDE. :)

  • this song is incredible

  • inspiral carpets, the charlatans, and RIDE.. CANT think of any better acts and they are all underated.. fucking shame..

  • yeah briliant but why hadnt i heard of them at the time like the carpets roses charlatans and mondays??? not good enough music lovin circle of friends in northern ireland lol.

  • Impresionante. Lástima no poder verlos en directo ahora

  • They left us all behind : (

  • genius track thx!!!

  • the guitarist in this, Andy bell, went to OASIS, still with Liam Gallaher on his new project band,

  • classic tune from the most grossly underrated band ever

  • i cant believe i missed them

  • is any of their other

albums as good as going blank again, be honest dont waste my time

  • @puffalobill

    Try 'Nowhere', their first album...

  • @hoffen Saw these guys once at a soundcheck and just watching that knocked your socks off. Was a fan from that day on.

  • what a fucking tune this is though!

  • Saw them live along with The Charlatans in Blackpool what a gig THAT was!!

Oasis killed the indie scene by ripping off everyone else even Tim Burgess's stance!

  • That was indeed a fantastic gig ... seems like yesterday ... anyway, time for my cocoa

  • lol

  • fair enogh to say that but oasis had better songs and thats why them stood out from the rest

  • that was empress ballroom was it not. reading your comment there brought memories flooding back

  • think you'll find it was ian brown he nicked his stance from

  • Easily one of the best of the nineties and everyone has heard pieces of it somewhere

  • I've always resented the fact that Oasis have always ripped off the likes of Ride, Swervedriver, Catherine Wheel, and My Bloody Valentine, and got away with it, and became so fucking huge, while Andy Bell wound up hired to play bass for them, when Noel Gallagher should be licking his fucking toe nails instead. No better evidence than this.

  • @fac443 Couldn't have put it better myself. Oasis? Maybe five good songs but originality???!!

  • This is the SHIT!!! Love these guys! I heard they might be getting back together now that Oasis has finally fucked off! I really hope so...

  • Whe re did you hear that? That would be Fuckin Sick!!

  • That would be great. In someways they are bigger now than they were then. Unfortunately I think the reunion might be put off for a while though because Liam Gallagher is continuing with the other members of Oasis as a new band. Plus they are all pretty busy with other things.

  • i would like to get high and run around in my apartment...

  • This like sound's like a hacked up version of Brittany Spear's 'circus'. Ride needs to like get a life and stop ripping off REAL Musical talent artists. Maybe if they stopped trying to be cool they could actually be cool and actually known like Miley Cyrus.

  • Maybe if you weren't so CAUGHT UP in what's cool and what not, just trying to pretend like you're cool and all by saying what's cool.

You're not cool mn. You never were.

  • This is not cool. you are not cool. if so youd know that billy ray cyrus's 'achy breaky heart' was so much cooler than this. stop trying to be cool by saying that others arent cool because they are preoccupied by what is cool and not cool and actually care that they're cool rather than being uncool like Ride. maybe then youd figure out that being cool is actually cooler than being uncool.

  • Man, you're just following the 'Conformist's Cool', just going on what is acceptably cool. But guess what, that's not cool. You need to define your own cool.

    Think outside the corporations!

  • Ride on brother, ride on. Hey, man, what's cooler than being cool? ICE COLD. ALLLLLL RIGHT....

  • Incidentally, if you want to read my book, there's a pretty good discussion of the socio-zeitilogical impact of coolness on todays anthropolitigurical culture (and related sub-cultures).

  • I am the lizard queen.

  • Quite possibly the most ignorant and uneducated comment Ive ever read on the internet. Kill yourself

  • this song was re;eased about ten year before brittany spears was out you stupid tit, so fuck off and get sum knowledge , the guitarists played bass for oasis for last 8 year you fuckin fool

  • You are ignorant love - this is from 1992. Can you do maths?

  • What is this?

    Ride have sold out.

  • this tune is blissed out,awsome.....play it again and louder too..........XXXXXXXXXXXXX

  • BRAZIL LOVES RIDE !! =D

  • Goosebumps Baby! Goosebumps! This was one of the great songs from back in the day and still is. The power and energy just keeps building and building throughout the song! Total badass on the drums! How awesome!!!

  • I am so glad there's a live version with the full 8 minutes, I hate shortened tv versions of songs. Thanks!

  • Saw them at Reading 91. They were amazing. The best of the Indie set! This is a forgotten anthem!!!

  • I was lucky enough to see them in Glasgow years ago an to this day it still stays with me how feckin fabulous they were!

  • thought that this couldn't be played live...oh how i was wrong

  • Genius song.

Amazing too they can play so accurately and for so long..tru professionals

  • this deserves 1000000000000 views at least!!!

  • God Ride were good, never got to see them, thanks for posting, is there anything out there at the moment as good, I doubt it?

  • This is probably the best live performance of this song they ever did, thank you uploader for sharing this brilliant show with us.

  • The swirling guitar sounds that (in this video) come in at 1:01 on the record version are about as trancendent, psychedelic, and otherworldy as guitar can get. Pure magic. I just play those few verses over and over. This version is still very good, but the studio version is freakish.

  • Oasis split...... RIDE reunion on the cards.

  • Good call, that was my first thought as well. Maybe Andy can hire Noel... LOL I was lucky enough to see Ride on this tour in the states - changed everything I think about music.

  • Oh god! A double whammie of goodness... Oasis gone, Ride back.

  • wait what???

  • ya this is the whole song off the album, there's a few videos up here with ~4 min. versions, shortened for tv spots.

  • @bugpowderdust27 A reunion? Now THERE is something I would pay SERIOUS money to enjoy!

  • @bugpowderdust27

Yeah.... Loz Colbert is with JAMC

  • 1. I could never figure out if wearing your own band's shirt on stage was really cool or really dorky. Still not sure.

    2. How great was 1992 for true alternative music? Ride, Blur, Adorable, Catherine Wheel, etc. were all just cranking. Seems like only yesterday.

  • You must be proud of the music in your country, Great Britain!

  • To think that Andy Bell is now in Oasis...

  • Leave Them All Behind

    Wheels turning around

    Into alien grounds

    Pass through different times

    Leave them all Behind

  • ride along with inspiral carpets and the

    charlatans are GODS...

  • I was at this concert!! I had a seat in the front row of the balcony. The original line-up of Mercury Rev opened the show.

  • You lucky, lucky bastard!!

I meant that in the kindess possible way of course, kudos to you :)

    Peace.

  • loz was the best drummer of that era for sure he drove the band in the way keith moon of THE WHO did tho the styles of drumming were slightly different.

  • Aaahhh so good!

  • Reform The Stone Roses ???? FUCK THAT! REFORM RIDE !

  • @jandean61 ride are good but watch your mouth while talkine about the stone roses

  • ah I love that bass line from the beginning of Time Machine. Ride is effing great, always wondered why people called them Shoegaze though, they were in that scene but def not that style of music. Still one of the better bands out there

  • Loz Colbert.. as a drummer here, one of my top 3 drummers by influence. Others include Mark Brzezecki of Big Country and Stuart Copeland of the Police. I saw these guys on this tour in the US. Portland Oregon 1992. Was amazing. Thanks RIDE, for the great music and memories.

  • powerful varying imaginative drummer...

  • wow they had such a fresh sound it still feels just as new today....really cool albums too....highly underated band

  • stone roses love spreads and this best intros to a song FACT

  • Charlatans- Sprongston green. Fact

  • Good call.

  • i was there top top gig classic album one of the best of the era

  • Comment removed

  • Super HETTY brahskness.

  • what year did they break up and what happened to them

  • they broke up towards the end of 1995 (correct me if im off) because Mark and Andy fell out about the direction the band was gonna go. artist disputes.

its all mended nowadays though, they even admit they'd love to work together and they're open minded about a reunion.

its not likely, but here's hoping eh?

  • The best rock band in a couple of years there... there

  • Amazing. Only got to see them once but loved every moment

  • i played this song to death when it came out ,and i still do

  • Does anybody know what song is playing in the background before they take the stage

  • it's the beginning part of the song Time Machine on their 2nd lp Going Blank Again

  • if you pick up the rarities album, it's called "King Bullshit". ;)

  • My god!!! That was incredible!!!! Ride were soo awesome!

  • best shoegazer song to ever exist, miles ahead of mbv, not to discredit mbv though

  • 1992, shit year, apart from going blank again and between 10th and 11th.

  • The first liver.

Secure a backward phrase for a long time.

Having made an AMBIENT flavor a size.

I recognize that this is the taste that European system has.

Both band and "BUSH" were such flavors, and both "hurricane # 1 and" the initial "oasis" liked "REEF".

However, all the sad kana is dissolved.

  • that gig with the charlatans was called the day tripper, what a show,

  • Excellent. 5 Stars.

  • Jeez this takes me back - pure class. Anyone else remember a double headline gig with The Charlatans in Brighton??

  • still got the ticket stubb. it was called day tripper.

  • I went to the second (I think it was after Brighton) show in Blackool. Great memories...would have been 14 or 15, me and a mate on the train from B'Ham with about a dozen cans of Stella drinking out of McDonalds cups. What a night...:)

  • TOP

  • fantastic

  • leave them all behind is my favourite song ever

but am i the only person, who after watching this and listening to live Reading 1992 gig... this song is one big anti climax when it kicks in

  • saw them at the newcastle mayfair in 92 with verve supporting them.ride are legends.

  • I didn't know they toured together. I saw Ride with Lush one year and Slowdive the next. Ride was my favorite band!!! As I get older though I think The Verve is better. Ashcroft is pure genius!!! But they are for sure my top 2.

  • yeah they toured together, verve had just released the all in the mind ep and i remember richard barefoot on stage,it was a great gig.i love the verve but to me ride are the better band.leave them all behind is a massive song, the best anthem of the '90's.however as much as i love the first two albums i personally think that carnival of light and tarantula were much better, they were really maturing as songwriters and musicians, they were definitely ahead of their time.they still sound fresh today.

  • I love Ride. I saw them at the Metro in Chicago with Slowdive. They are not shoegaze. They rock! Watch them perform, no shoegazing.

  • What's wrong with shoegaze?

  • I saw that tour when it hit Omaha..played in a bowling alley and changed my life..there was nothin' shoegaze about Ride..Amazing!

  • Ride/Slowdive was the best show I ever saw. Just mind-blowing. Great video.

  • That was a great tour.

  • Great! Fantastic!!!

  • oh dude the best ride dey be, dis one right heah

  • Is it possible to save the video on your harddrive?

  • dude they played in 92 in new jersey at city gardens (in trenton) i was 15, my momy and dady wouldnt let me go....i had a english final exam the next day (of coarse the show was on a tuesday) 3 of my friends went, the show changed their lives! ride opened with this! i survived missing this, barely, but i cant say my parents did! they should have let me go!!

  • Burn the audio to CD now !!! Sounds great through my JBLs !!

Thank you for posting this !!

    jbxlb

  • For sure a masterpiece!!! One of the best song ever !!!

  • Legend.

  • One of the most sublime pieces of guitar music ever! A psychedelic explosion of feedback and mindblowing colour!

  • fuckin brill! ox4 heavenly!

  • an absolute MASTERPIECE, thanks a lot for this video with the complete song, I'd wish I could have been there...

  • ...epic song. How I forgot about Ride I'll never know, but one day that intro came back to me and made me think I'm sure that belongs to some tune ,of some band from me youth...thank god I remembered they were called Ride and the song was called going blamk again.

  • i agreee...

  • I was there! Brixton was my fav venue, indoor standing in a dodgy part of london. Mercury rev were the warm up & did a great version of ghost town which i'll never forget, ride came on 2 this song & the place went wild, which is not picked up in this video, I'm 6ft 4 & not bothered by a mosh pit but this is the only time I felt I was going to faint, the start 2 the song is 2 much & the crowd went bonkers, my feet hardly touched the floor & I ended up being passed back through the crowd..

  • ride was awesome ....going blanck again ...amazing ..aah the memories ...

  • i just realized who placebo wants to be!

  • don't ever compare those faggots from placebo to this mind blowing band. ride would literally pound those faggots into dust there's no comparison

  • i believe that was the point i was making minus the derogatory...placebo wants to be a modern version of ride but dont have the true shoegazor sense and sensibilities about them...almost with the first album but not quite
