well it is a problem but, if we joined forces and stoped using mony. it whod proberbly be an easyer life for all of us.
shering all of the goods. insted a small part called the elite have most of the mostly usless mony and ovn most of the resorses. im not stigmatising Bill gates, but do he realy need all that cash to live?
I say the US should go use its weapons and go to war with all weak nations and kill off the any resistance so we can limit the population at the weak nations expense. In most cases it is the poor countries that breed like rabbits so why not have war with weak third world countries?
The WEALTH enjoyed by the NORTH neither drops from the sky nor created by it alone. Instead, MUCH of that wealth comes from the backs of billions of working poor around the world. It's also taken from the vast raw resources poor people have but can't readily exploit: most of the world's raw resources have been USED UP by the West, the "North." FOR the West, the poorer, less educated, & more children.... the larger the WORLD's labor pool & the easier it is to EXPLOIT. It's a cruel symbiosis.
That is to say, relatively deadly germs, bacteria, viruses, & limited food prodcution or nature's "checks and balances" [sounds cruel but that's what it's been for 95% of mankind's existence] --- before the advent of modern medicine & synthetic chemicals, fertilizer, & equipments --- KEPT the vast majority of simpler societies pretty well in check. It's only the dawn modern means, spread by Europeans, FOR their own selfish LABOR pool around the world, that has caused population acceleration...
Typical attitude of rich people ..to say the world is over crowded and all the poor people are taking up space. Sir David might be an animal lover but he doesnt seem like much of a humanitarian.
@2xRDA What absolute nonsense. I have watched dozens of documentaries by Attenborough and, despite the bloody Brits normal arrogance, I don't remember ever seeing or hearing him saying it is any group of people's fault. Indeed, he said: It is HOMO SAPIENS, as a species, that is a danger to himself and ALL other creatures on earth, plus the Earth itself. Most "primitive" or simpler societies, until 2-3 generations ago, lived BY laws & rules other creatures live by, so they CAN'T over produce.
I think population will grow over the world. In the West fertility rate will fall & people will live even longer. I don't think this will happen in most of the world though, there will be increased competition for land and food, inequality will remain high and there will be shortages of food. The rich will be able to buy some time and food and space but the third world and many species will suffer I think.

i drove across the U.S. recently and day after day after day i would see maybe ten cars. no houses, no people, just endless stretches of wilderness. and then i drove back on a different freeway and saw the same thing.
the earth harbors probably the most inefficient kind of food production in the galaxy: industrial agriculture.
backyard and front-yard gardens are the solution, with a concentration on nutrient-rich sprouts.
we haven't even begun to tap the resources of this planet, but the illuminati have channeled our energies into pollution-causing, time-wasting, resource-wasting enterprises meant to do one thing: run economies into the ground.
It's not people that threaten the planet. It's industrialization and the business interests that drive it's expansiion...and the pollution...and material waster it generates. Everyone has a right to live on and enjoy the beauty of the Earth. Be very careful of these kinds of commentary. If you assume people are the problem...then who gets to decide which people get to continue to live here...and what happens to the rest. It's industry that's out of control...not people.
with 7 billion and counting and with oil, food, and water getting more expensive...yeah were all screwed. We need a zombie apocalypse pronto.

@usergently It appears you cannot tell the difference between voluntary contraception and eugenics.

Well, people who say that there is no "overpopulation problems" aren't very humanitarian neither.
