Great review! I was going to get one of these but I agree, it should have lights and sounds for the price. I think I'll wait and hope that someone will come out with the ultimate collector's replica of this awesome piece of classic sci fi.

I have one of these identical replicas, preassembled and painted in the reflective copper...very nice conversation piece, but I do agree... for the extravagant price of the thing, it should be a bit heavier and it should have came assembled with LIGHTS! The 'cobra' appendage should have been jointed to permit flexibility and bending of the neck as well! A nice, static model...but too costly for the lack of craftsmanship involved.

NOTE: Got one for my Wife for her birthday and when my birthday came she got me one! QUESTION! WIthout reseaching it, what State and COUNTY did the "First Ship" come down there was a "square dance" later then the electricity goes off. One hint, the name of the "Cyn"; there is such a place in "County" and near what town? Ask me if u do not know and I will tell you---suspect others know!

No they didn't cut the sence with the legs coming out, They used a magnetic flux for the legs which was shown in the movie 3 to 4 times. with the high tech rays I would have laughed if they used some type of Mechanical legs to move the war machine!

I had a hell of a time putting the stand onto the base as well. I want to try to light mine up, but I'm concerned I'll break it if I try to dissasemble it.

@Kaffyboy Don't disassemble the pre-built kit. If you want to put lights in, buy the actual kit and put it together that way.

I'll get the kit, but how cool would this thing look lighted?!
