This was a good one.. I don't see a reason for the dislikes. If the people here commenting had better ideas they'd have the hovercraft or the boat if that's what they call it. I like it when someone comes up with anything that's human powered. It's a slap to the capitalistic governments and the oil companies who run the world. And I agree with @namejacked No one cares about lame comments here.
When you consider that an average human pushing hard can put out less than 1/2 hp, the efficiency of that craft is amazing. I wonder if there would be any benefit to making the sides of the skirt out of inflatable pontoons and making the front and rear parts of the skirt retactable so you can make headway on water without having to hover, for when you get tired.

um, no... i think you miss my point. the thing is basically floating on the water. there is no layer of water spray or air detectable. it didn't hover on the land onto the water, it basically started in the water. show me a clip of a human powered "hovercraft" moving from land directly onto water under human power and i'll agree. otherwise, it's a fan boat.
Some of their other videos show it going from land to water. also, even if it just hovering 1/8 of an inch off the water it is still hovering. Also one of the defining features of a boat is a displacement hull, and this craft has none.
@tewkewl Look at the other videos, it has nothing to float. The skirt is just barely inflated, it's not like there is a lawn mower engine powering the lift fan. You are not going to get spray. If he had stopped peddling over the water it would have sunk.

would it be possible to somehow have a clutch system on the pusher prop?
Because you need not waste power on the rear prop in situations where u need only keep the craft afloat?
fantastic idea though :)
does it have any natural buoyancy?

@rlwieneke I saw a hovercraft not a monkey.

@macrumpton so why are you saying it is not human powered? Did you see something else powering it?
