Prokofiev is definitely one of those composers you have to listen to over and over and over again to fully understand. I love this concerto, but it took me a while
Prokofiev is a master at weaving both dissonance and harmonics into a fabric of a beautiful fabric musical tapestry. I love his stuff. Ashkenazy does this concerto very well. i actually consider it the best.
This is chilling it the way Prokofiev wanted it chilled. Notably cool guy he was. The fact that this is not a tiny man with tiny hands helps some ways. Learn this incredibly lovely music, yes, cold, spend some time with it, so that you can appreciate the sonorities the better, and spot fluffed notes. Nice, serious attitude here.

The composer of this work, and the opus itself, is Eternal, the pianists are just Mules. Long after Yudili etcetera have gone, this first part of Prokofiev's second pianoconcerto will live on.
how do you get the damn thing to play?

Prokofiev's Piano Concerto no.2, i think is the most challenging of all his piano concertos because of " scattered notes".....
