Where is the DVD of this film? ("Hold Your Man", The Secret Six" and "Saratoga" need to be released on DVD as well). We need more Gable/Harlow chemistry!
Thank you for posting this movie. It is one of the best of the pre-code movies. Harlow and Gable's chemistry steams up the screen. Mary Astor is rather sultry in her own right. A very provocative movie with witty dialogue. I've been looking for a DVD copy to replace my VHS tape.
"Red Dust", template for "Mogambo" about 20 years later, but I prefer "Red Dust", because Clark Gable is still young and still awfully good-looking ( still good-looking 20 years later, but as a middle-aged man then...). For me, as a man, I admire Clark for his looks, his voice, his manner, his way with women....must have been nice to be admired by men and loved by women, the way he was...
where can i find this film? it's been one of my favorites since i was a kid. the reason why it's not reissued all the time must be the magic between gable and harlow would but modern movie romantic couples to shame. sixty years later it's obvious why clark gable was called the king of hollywood...and that cute little jean harlow was was a star from the first film she made. now, i gotta go and try and track 'red dust down' on the internet...
Looking like that it's hard imagine her as a the Saigon whore she's supposed to be in the film. I really enjoy the verbal exchanges between her and Gable.
Great film! This movie made Jean!! I love Gable & Harlow together. This movie was risque` back in 1932...could ya believe it...after what is out today!!
Yes, but remember she was in the hands of the best of her day. Clark Gable and Billy Powell, cried their eyes out, when she died. Don't let the lesson be forgotten. I'm a fifty-old fault old fart who convinced my generations to deny her the killer weed. It flatters me to think that she, billy and Clark might have made a difference, back in the day.
FYI rebrammer, lots of girls didn't wear bras in the thirties. If that was all Harlow had to offer she wouldn't have become a great star and an enduring legend. She was disrespected in life from people like you and I guess it continues...
There's a hilarious part in the movie where the newly weds go to their room and the groom says: "Do you think we can stand this bed?" , and the bride replies: "Who else is going to?". And then Clark Gable walks in...
Great film...please post the film?

Jean Harlow was the pioneer for blonde bombshells of cinema.
Jean Harlow may not have been around that long as a actress, yet it was long enough to become famous and a sex symbol.
Jean Harlow did well for herself. No matter how old Jean Harlow's movies get, they will never be forgotten. Jean Harlow will always be remembered.
I wonder if Marilyn Monroe ever copied Jean Harlow?

Thanks so much for your kind answer:
I love this movie. I'm glad to have quite a decent copy...
Esp. since YT disabled the full movie once again...which I consider an outcrying shame.. Imo this movie is both Hollywood and American heritage.
And imo as many ppl as possible oughta be able to watch it.
Greetings!

The song is "There's no place like home". She hums:
"Be it ever so humble there's no place like home."
She sounded like a saxophone at first when I heard her. The higher notes of a tenor sax I thought?
Hotmanprodigy 3 years ago
Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home...I'm sure that's the lyric and may be the name of the song.
