I asked my GF once, who is 15 yrs older than me and grew up in the 70's, "How the hell did people not know that people like Elton John or Freddie Mercury was gay?", and she said "It was part of the times, Androgyny ruled", look at the 80's with all the glam bands wearing woman's make up. it was part of times, musicians knew if they were really gay or not, but us the audience were completly oblivous. People just didn't noticed "Freddy's mustache or short shorts". we notice it today though...

They just re-released this concert with a new title Queen Rock Montreal and it was re-mixed by Queen's team plus you get commentary by Brian May and Roger Taylor whom set the record straight on this show. The director of this did a bad job with the original film. Luckily, Queen got this back and restored it all.

That may be true but I guess if it was a choice between lowering the notes or having your voice crack in front of the audience (and the cameras), it'd probably be best to play it safe. Also, why not create a different 'live' version? Those that only want to hear studio versions could save their money and stay home with their CDs.

Exactly. Most bands I wouldn't see live because they don't do anything different or interesting. It's bands like Queen that I would see live.

I totally disagree. The only time you ever see this happening is near the end of tours (you probably have NO IDEA what kind of load it is on your vocals to tour) and during songs nobody would dare to attempt. And even then, it's a big rarity...
