@stevep119 You already have good orygin story in comic form: it is called: "Buffy: Orygin" and it based on oryginal Whedon's script and was approved by him. So, no idea of remake is stupid. I love the original movie (it's hilarious and dark "They had this look in their eyes, totally cold, animal. I think they were young Republicans.") . I love the tv show (i probably watch it more then I should) However, I am excited to see where others can take Buffy. Whether it sucks or not, it won't change how I feel about what Joss made. I don't think too many people give it a chance. Maybe this will give head way for Joss to peruse the animated series he's been kicking around as well

I grew up with BTVS too! And I agree completely with you! this movie is going to tank and ruin something that is so perfect! who even thought of this stupid idea! The movie was so poorly scripted there is no way to rebound from and no hope of even comparing to the TV series.
I agree with you, I believe the movie will suck ass. But you people have to remember, it's been over a decade and bringing back the entire cast is an unreal expectation. The show's cast is older and have probably moved on to work on other things.

Buffy IS Joss Whedons Creation. Without Joss there is NO Buffy. However, I think I'll watch the movie because it's Buffy, and unlike most I actually liked the first movie, it introduced me to the story I've come to love. I dissagree with what you say about actors playing certain characters. Other Actors could play the characters better, but the characters we all know and Love CANNOT be take over. Fran Kuzui owns a portion of the intellectual property of buffy she helped develop the character and directed the film, but thats as far as her involvement in buffy goes though she did get a executive producer credit in the show as a mark of respect from Joss. Fran wants i assume to create buffy in her own vision since she and Joss had creative differences on the movie, this is her attempt to get people to see an alternate depiction of buffy in the hopes they'll like it or at least understand it
It sounds to me like this movie is going to be completely different from the beloved show. Maybe that's a good thing. Like I said, making a movie that has the same characters and same plot can easily set us up for disappointment. It could turn out like shit, and totally change our opinions on the original show.

Your right through you need at least Sarah Michelle Gellar to play Buffy in any remake & you need David Boreanaz because Buffy fan's know that Angel was there at the time the movie was set. Buffy as a TV show is such a massive world-wide phenomenon, especially for those who were teens in the late 90s early noughties, when it aired. To take away the entire cast, core characters & its awesome, genius of a creator straight away means that this'll lead to EPIC FAIL. I WILL NOT be going to see this if indeed, it does make it to the screen.

I agree with you to a point... I do believe that if they searched long and hard, they could find actors that could fill the spots for the original cast. However, that would only work if they found people that could actually act and portray the character the way the original did, they have to be likable.

First of all I just want to say I am HUGE Buffy The Vampire Slayer Fan! Secondly They are making it fresh. It is going to start from the beggining when she finds out she is the slayer. Now here are some rumors on who will try to replace Sarah Michelle Gellar. Emma Watson, Vanessa Hudgeons, Hayden Paintirera, Rumer Willis, Megan Fox and some say Emma Stone. I disagree of the remake. I kinda understand the relaunch of it and wanting to make it darker but Buffy is supposed to have a lil comedy.

I think you made some very strong, solid points about this wonderful show. The real Buffy fanbase is all behind Whedon- as well as all the cast of the show. This new 2012 movie just has the name of our show- it doesn't have the same energy, spirit, and memorability as the show and never will. I'd like to believe that somehow at the last second, people will come to their senses and get Whedon and the cast back on the project. But, naturally, this is probably hoping for too much.

I agree with everything you said. Joss Whedon has said repeatedly that the reason the old movie didn't work was because the director and the actors were constantly changing the script he wrote. If they're bringing back the old director who fucked up the first movie then the new movie is doomed, especially since Joss won't be writing any of the scripts anyway so the director will just be fucking up scripts written by less talented writers...

I love the original movie (it's hilarious and dark "They had this look in their eyes, totally cold, animal. I think they were young Republicans.") . I love the tv show (i probably watch it more then I should) However, I am excited to see where others can take Buffy. Whether it sucks or not, it won't change how I feel about what Joss made. I don't think too many people give it a chance. Maybe this will give head way for Joss to peruse the animated series he's been kicking around as well

I agree with you, I believe the movie will suck ass. But you people have to remember, it's been over a decade and bringing back the entire cast is an unreal expectation. The show's cast is older and have probably moved on to work on other things.
But I agree with everything else, the original movie sucked, the director more than likely sucks, and cast they get isn't going to be as good as the cast, and the fact that she is moving away from the series is a horrible mistake.

Buffy IS Joss Whedons Creation. Without Joss there is NO Buffy. However, I think I'll watch the movie because it's Buffy, and unlike most I actually liked the first movie, it introduced me to the story I've come to love. Fran Kuzui owns a portion of the intellectual property of buffy she helped develop the character and directed the film, but thats as far as her involvement in buffy goes though she did get a executive producer credit in the show as a mark of respect from Joss. Fran wants i assume to create buffy in her own vision since she and Joss had creative differences on the movie, this is her attempt to get people to see an alternate depiction of buffy in the hopes they'll like it or at least understand it

It was fantastic and beautiful and the actors were amazing as well as the continuous plot.
Joss Whedon did a stupendous job.
But I want to keep it in the past. There's no point in bringing it back in a newer addition. The actors are gone to do bigger things.
I don't want the movie to be anything like it, because that would ruin Buffy for me.
It's too late for sequel-like movies anyway.

It sounds to me like this movie is going to be completely different from the beloved show. Maybe that's a good thing. Like I said, making a movie that has the same characters and same plot can easily set us up for disappointment. It could turn out like shit, and totally change our opinions on the original show.
Maybe this will be a terrible movie, but why does it matter? It doesn't affect the show in any way, or the actors. It's a remake, not a sequel, which it sounds like you guys want.

You're worrying about who's going to play who, but those characters came from Joss Whedon's creative mind. They weren't ever original characters of the Buffy movie. Only the show. Your right through you need at least Sarah Michelle Gellar to play Buffy in any remake & you need David Boreanaz because Buffy fan's know that Angel was there at the time the movie was set. I can kind of see the argument for them being to old but again us Buffy fans wouldn't give a shit! A cameo from Emily Deschanel wouldn't go a miss. Jared Padalecki & Jensen Ackles as the villans. Buffy as a TV show is such a massive world-wide phenomenon, especially for those who were teens in the late 90s early noughties, when it aired. To take away the entire cast, core characters & its awesome, genius of a creator straight away means that this'll lead to EPIC FAIL. I WILL NOT be going to see this if indeed, it does make it to the screen.

I LOVE YOU. I searched youtube hoping to find a real buffy fan that truely appreciated the show. Joss Whedon is a mastermind. Without him, it sucks. Thank you for everything said. It's nice to see a real fan. We are passionate, because the people who truely appreciated the show are the best people in this world. Haha.

I agree with you to a point... I do believe that if they searched long and hard, they could find actors that could fill the spots for the original cast. However, that would only work if they found people that could actually act and portray the character the way the original did, they have to be likable.
I totally agree with you that Buffy is just not Buffy without her friends and allies. Her friends are who made her into the character that we all love and know. This just doesn't seem right..

Either way its not going to work unless they did a film with the original cast as what with special effects and make-up they might be able to make James Marsters and David Boreanez look younger and everyone look sort of younger unless it was meant to be based however many years after the show ended and the films release. Also like a commenter below said picking out of the disney crowd? Lame! I too grew up with this show and will not watch this film!

I know I'm late to the party here, but I agree with what you're saying. Obviously, I'm a fan. Here's my fear: they supposedly asked Vanessa Hudgens and she said no, which I thought was really cool on her part. But if they're pulling from the Disney lot? That means Miley fracking Cyrus is probably on their list of potentials (heh) and they'd probably even make her wear the Hannah wig to do it, too.

First of all I just want to say I am HUGE Buffy The Vampire Slayer Fan! Secondly They are making it fresh. It is going to start from the beggining when she finds out she is the slayer. Now here are some rumors on who will try to replace Sarah Michelle Gellar. Emma Watson, Vanessa Hudgeons, Hayden Paintirera, Rumer Willis, Megan Fox and some say Emma Stone. I disagree of the remake. I kinda understand the relaunch of it and wanting to make it darker but Buffy is supposed to have a lil comedy.

In total agreement here, by the way how many people have been keeping up with the Buffy Season 8 Comics, They should totally bring all the actors from the Buffy series and make the season eight comics into season eight episodes, I mean how awesome would it be to see all of those old actor return to their roles and make more episodes, I think it would be totally kick ass.

i think that if she was to do something like this it would be more interesting to have a movie about the slayer pre buffy. and her life and death etc. but the series has like what 7 years at least of fans.. millions of fans id bet and yes most of us still do this day continue to watch the series on dvd and follow the new comics. hell i bet most of us qoute our favorite lines on a weekly basis if not day to day.

I think you made some very strong, solid points about this wonderful show. The real Buffy fanbase is all behind Whedon- as well as all the cast of the show. This new 2012 movie just has the name of our show- it doesn't have the same energy, spirit, and memorability as the show and never will. I'd like to believe that somehow at the last second, people will come to their senses and get Whedon and the cast back on the project. But, naturally, this is probably hoping for too much.

I agree with everything you said. Joss Whedon has said repeatedly that the reason the old movie didn't work was because the director and the actors were constantly changing the script he wrote. If they're bringing back the old director who fucked up the first movie then the new movie is doomed, especially since Joss won't be writing any of the scripts anyway so the director will just be fucking up scripts written by less talented writers...
