lovely voice but she isn't singing like a little girl. She's singing like a grown woman. Her voice is too strong and too loud. She should be delicate and coquettish, flirting and teasing. Wonderful voice and intonation, but the acting and approach are wrong. Her high notes are a bit "Shrieky" too
I agree PTCello... I liked it very much but she does't sound exactly girly. My question is... Can a lyric mezzosoprano sound girlish? I mean... the timbre's usually deep and lacrymose. I'm just wondering anyway.
Mozart actually wrote this for a specific woman. He wrote all his opera arias after guaging the voice for which he was writing. It's possible this particular approach fit the original zerlina.
listening to it again, the original comments remain, but heavens, what good singing. I would love to have seen this show. The cellist is also very good. That cello part is a bitch, I can assure you.
The original Zerlina must have had a very peculiar voice!!! Being able to sound girly and flirtatious and at the same time emitting those low notes she sings in the trios and groupal singing parts...
There are more playful-sounding mezzos than Kirchschlager, though =P.

Very nice, though. My quibbles are minor.

Couldn't agree more.
She was a very strong, loud Hansel in the recent Royal Opera House production.
