  • no doubt a speech written by a white middle age female teacher.

  • drugs and jail within 5 years.

  • Check out another phenomenal speaker. 9 year old, JADA COOKS from Arkansas.

  • He's annoying af!

  • I BELIVE IN MY SELF !!!!!!!!!! NOT TO YOU

  • If that is not impressive, what is? A sale on forties? Buy one get one half off at the beauty supply store? Oh, no 4 white T's for $10! Wow, this young man is inspiring no matter what age he is or what age you are. All I can say is, "HI Haters"!

  • his voice is annoying -_-

  • 62 Haters on deck lol Great job younge man

  • Its like when the other guy starts talking theu stop cheering btw GO DALTON!!!!

  • ur awesome

  • I can't believe that this young man has the kind of stage presence and skill at such a young age. It is TRULY incredible.

  • Wow good job kid u got wat it takes to be come a leader on day

  • EVERYBODY LISTEN TO THE BOY, HE IS PROBUBLY YOUNGER THAN ALOT OF YOU AND I GAIRENTY, THAT MOST OF US WOULD NOT TALK TO ALMOST 27,000 PEOPLE, I KNOW I WOULDN'T! THIS IS Y OUR WOULD IS CROUPTED, YOU ARE A STUPID PUNK FOR SAYING THIS TO HIM I MEAN YOU ARE CRUL TO SAY MEAN THINGS TO HIM! HE DESERVERS RESPECT

  • He's a good public speaker, no doubt, but he talks a lot of the time as though he's not wearing a mic at times when it's not called for, and pauses / emphasizes in weird places. Maybe it's just my speech class talking, but that bothers me... It makes the speech sound scripted and uncomfortable.

  • i phoned 66 and satan sent me here to say hi

  • @tomboysister138 your just a punk too who's putting down others, but you have a good reason. Besides, I didn't hear any good comments come from you

  • WoW!!! this kid is very good I wanna be like him :D

  • This kid is awesome! Our superintendent shared this video with us today. He is very inspiring! His parents and teachers must be so proud!! Way to go Dalton! We believe in you!

  • Wow, could this kid be anymore scripted?? I believe he can.

  • @rynopolis78 Wow can you just make up a 7 minute speech that effective and organized? Obviously it's scripted. Martin Luther's "I Have A Dream" speech was. Abe Lincoln's "Gettysburg Address" was.

  • @rynopolis78 So what it is scripted? The message is still clear, and he is an amazing public speaker for a kid his age.

  • I think you know what led me here...

  • Yes, I believe!!!!

  • i belive in him!

  • my name is dalton.

  • @WRwildcats69....wow dobt you feel good about yourself calling this young boy the N word. All you are is jealous that you cant speak intelligent words to 20,000 people. How about if you had a son and he did something like this? You would be proud of him. Dont put down this kid. I pray God will change your heart for toward this young man. I also pray that you will find purpose so your life so you dont have to put others down! God loves you!

  • He's a brave kid, with a great message. More people should ask themselves what he asked. Great lesson.

  • I go what u r ?

  • what a legend!

  • OMG, MY NAMES DALTON!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh...My...God...Would ppl PLZ stop putting negative comments on this vid!? What's so negative about him saying that we need to believe in ourselves and other ppl? And what i've noticed is that the positive comments are mostly from girls while negative comments come from guys. Do u guys REALLY think that ur cool for saying negative stuff? Well ur NOT ur nothing but fucking punks who can't say that a ten year is BETTER than U! So boys PLZ stfu and stop watching this vid if u hate it. GO DALTON! =D

  • I'm so impressed by this student! Sure, I wondered who wrote the speech, but still, what kid can get up in front of 20,000 people and deliver effectively and with such enthusiasm?!? I believe he will achieve what ever he sets his mind to!

  • wow this kid is born to become a motivational speaker! better than dwight schrute

  • If you need an opinion to succeed, you ain't thinking right, but to answer your question, yes, I believe in you my nigga

  • I liked the part where he asked if they believed in him.

  • @freemaleable - yeah, maybe this speech was written for him, but he delivers it beautifully. He has it memorized. We need to be proud of kids like this. I'd be willing to bet that when you were 10, you couldn't have gotten on stage and delivered as potent a speech in front of 20,000 people.

And if you did indeed deliver an inspiration speech of this caliber when you were that age, I guess you're just salty that it's not on YouTube.

    Lowlife.

  • @Bellella411 i don't know what you're so angry about, because we are saying the same thing. i believe in his ability to recite and deliver effectively and that's cool. but this video is way over hyped.

and no i didn't do what he did and 10 and still haven't. most people haven't and that says nothing about my ability, to assume so makes you an

    idiot.

  • yeah, i believe in you. you and your ability to be coached and have a speech written for you.

  • At the age of ten I find it very impressive that even with some coaching and delivering his speech that may have been written, you can see that from his confidence and interaction with the audience that he loves what he is talking about. Maybe you guys don't believe in yourself enough to see the positive in his words. He memorizes and has great interaction with his audience. As a mother I would be proud that my children are not afraid to say what they believe and tell it to the world.

  • @BMCCCOM111 what does believing in myself have anything to do with seeing the positive in his words? anyways he is a great speaker he really is, but don't forget that this is another persons words put in his mouth, how much praise does that really deserve?

  • @freemaleable shame on you if you have nothing nice to say DON'T say anything AT ALL

  • scandalous, horrible, ridiculous

  • This young man has a great gift of communication! I love this message! He's right--people need to believe in students' ability to learn and students need to believe in their own ability, and then they all need to work together to help a student accomplish as possible before the student goes on to the next stage of life. This really needs to be a community effort, though. The environment of learning and living and growing does not just happen within the walls of a school.

  • I believe in ya, kid!

  • Soooo awesome wish me luck on my speech!!! ^_^

  • Anyone else notice how he pauses between each of his words?

  • @GreenoProductions He talks like William Shatner.

  • @GreenoProductions it makes it more powerful

  • he is wonderful

  • Prostituter

  • It's ashame how people are soooooo racist. I was reading comments and who would call this baby a nigga. But they show how ignorant they are. The definition of a nigga is an ignorant person. This was an great video. We do need to believe in our children. Their are some teachers that do not believe in their students. Children come from different circumstances that hinders them from succeeding.

  • DO YOU BELIVE IN ME

  • i luv this video! it is very strong this kid has guts! i respect him all the way. he can talk and what he says is entirely true! im with you all the way kid! keep it up!!!! :D

  • I still want to know how this is an answer to Barack Obama.

  • @ahmaditoortega WOW you are so MATURE WRONG GROW THE HELL UP

  • @mzdivalove what the hell is your problem! Why you are taking this so personal? Chill out & relax :-)

  • Comment removed

  • @ahmaditoortega

his name is dalton sherman he is like 10 or somethin! really cool!

  • hes wrong, my father said i could be the president and go to the moon. and i believed him, now im a crack addict

  • all i can say is DAMN THIS KIDS GOT BALLS! i mean i wouldnt be able to go up on stage and say over and over again... DO U BELEIVE IN ME????

im sorry but when we watched this at school everybody at school kept yelling NO U STUPIED ASS HOLE! but he does have balls ...

  • @TommyTonic10 You are a ASSHOLE YOU ARE THE NIGGA RACIST PIG

  • @mzdivalove Well I'm black, and you just called me a nigga, so you're the racist. Plus it's "AN asshole" not "a asshole" if we were doing writting corrections I would of had to give you a mark for that. Nigga.......

  • Truly a passionate young person. It's people like this who grow up to become the leaders that we need in this world. I am passionate about teaching students to become passionate leaders. It will be guaranteed that there will be a lot of criticism when you step out of the norm, but don't let that put you off.

  • Thanks to Barry Hussein you will never be president. You can believe that

  • ha ha i love this

  • As a Future Educational Assistant, i believe this message is a stong and powerful message that should be spread around the world. With out modivation, positive influence, and detemination anything is possible. We as educators get the privilage to teach some of the futures smartest people. We get to watch the wourld change through our teaching. I hope this message does something to infulence great role models not only for today but forever.

  • Waste of time. But you know what if someone gets something out of this video then the message is fine but i think to the what 10% of people that actually do something with their lives then yeah it's great but they probably already know that. Though if one person changes their thinking because of this video then it's not completely pointless. Also impressive coaching on the boy, but it's probably easier to coach an empty vessel that doesn't have any bad habits already.

  • gAY showed us dis in class datboy is gunna get punked on high school

  • i feel sorry that when this kid gets into highschool, he's not gonna believe he ever made this speech.

  • my favorite part...3:11-3:30

  • my favorite part...3:11-3:30

  • He's got a 9 in his waistband! _)_)==D

  • Sounds like a butchered MLK jr. speech.

  • This video re-assured me, today, that I am doing the right thing by becoming a teacher. This little boy has inspired me. I watched this in a SEA meeting today. My Foundations of Educ. teacher shared it. This little boy is stronger than some of us adults. Koodos and hats off to him, his parents, and his teacher(s). Bravo!!!

  • @braidingpro Good on you. I have been a teacher going on three years. l have the best job in the world. I love what I do. The work is very demanding. It is NOT a 9 to 5 job. If you can't love the kids, don't do it. The rewards go well past a paycheck. Good luck.

  • Watched this in English today for an example for an inspiration speech. He did sooooo better than any of us could ever!!! GREAT JOB DALTON!

  • good stuff ... that's the attitude

  • The people who hate on vids like this are crazed christian inbred racist pigfuckers, drinking beer and basking in their collection of Mccain idolizing and Obama bashing bumper stickers. This kid did something the majority of our population could never do.

  • This kid is amazing he has given goosebumps like hell. Well done :)

  • Thank you for helping to continue inspiring me this year!

  • absolutely Awesome kid, keep up the good work!

  • the most inspiring person.

  • very inspiring!

  • He is an amazing kid!

In response to some comments here, this was posted on August 22, 2008. Obama wasn't elected until 3 months later! It really has nothing to do with Obama, so don't even bring it up.

  • He is an amazing kid!

  • my god people....some of you are so stupid...racism was along time ago...just because this kid makes more sense than you ever will! I know he has more guts than i do...i would never get in front of over 20k people to speak about anything!!! he sounds like a professional speaker to me...

  • Some of the (ignorant) comments below are disheartening. I think this little guy is awesome and will go far in his life. Sometimes all it takes is ONE person to make a difference and I think that's the message here. Lighten up, People!

  • I think it's awesome that this kid got up and had such a great speech. As a teacher, I know that it's a very hard, demanding job, and it's so nice to feel appreciated! We know we're making a difference, but to hear it from a kid is so rewarding. Thanks, Dalton! No matter what level a child is at, whether they are top of the class or just trying to pass, each child has a purpose for their lives and we need to remember that!

  • critisism is not wanted to this post, so I don't say what I think about it... well, just that: it takes me 9 seconds to say i belive in the freedom of speech and accept that the little boy could've got his message across in 9 seconds as well.... so where is the sense of democracy and the freedom of speech for those who "dare" to critisise? but go on and say it's negative to follow a 9 minute of... well I censor myself for the greater good

  • @gsboss well you did vote for obama right?

  • @Shay26m I think you should take your own advice.

  • Preach it, brother!

  • I like this video BECAUSE, Some idiots out their make their students believe that they do terrible jobs in their work when they try their best.

  • This kid is speaking a powerful truth here we need to heed. Many of us HAVE lost faith in the younger generation, and for valid reasons. But this young man is full of inspiration and promise to young and old alike. It takes a LOT of nerve to speak this boldly in front of so many. I admire him and appreciate what he has to say. "We need you" is a cry of truth. This young man is awesome.

  • great inspirational video

  • @blazindubz -how corny are you? Go pay your child support

  • Amazing!!!! I love it!!!

  • Is not it incredible that a 10-year knejt / boy dares stand and speak so to so great an assembly without fear. ? Think of how hard we sometimes have summer by saying two words when we need to keep speaking to such weddings. There's an important message to the boy says. We are your future, trust us, let us know and will'll go the distance

  • this little kid is the best! hes amazing to stand out in a huge crowd like that and speak his mind with attitude! WOOHOO! :)

  • Way to go young man! Wow, I would like to do that well in my presentations... :)

  • This guy has attitude. I love it!

  • ths is the most amazing speech I've heard in my life. this is incedible!!:)

  • I think it's sad that there are some people on here that can take something so positive and put negative comments about it. There is nothing negative about telling teachers to believe in their students and themselves!!! Just his speech alone proves someone believed in him and the power in which that holds. Come on people, drop the negativity here and look at the bigger picture!!

  • @boredman443 nice....apparently your brain is as intelligent as one.

  • @terad473 I agree with you totally. All children need to see this. I am a firm believer that all children want to learn. They don't wake up in the morning and say "I don't want to learn," they are dealing with extreme circumstances that hinders them from learning. He did a great job!!!!!! Good for him.

  • all of u guys who r talking trash about this kid are dumb! all of u who dont support or dont like the kid 4 some stupid reason better shut up and accecpt the fact that u will never be as cool or as inspiring as him. At least he has the integrity 2 stand up and show his appreciation not like others who just live life and make nothing of it. So overall, just leave the kid alone!!!

  • @krzxalien his point is sating that the teachers and staff of their school, should believe that their students can learn and have the potential to learn and graduate and become a successful person.

  • I think the message is pretty clear, so stop picking on this kid. At least he's actually good at something, in fact really good. I mean a kid inspiring adults...now that's something you don't see everyday.

  • @alvarezjake37

Well i read its because of the teachers and all them keep encouraging him that he do his speech.

  • At least he is smarter than you and have more confidence..... YOU SHOULD NOT BE TALKING!!!

  • @alvarezjake37 I highly doubt that.

  • @steveandhutchinc you're an idiot.

  • @JMeLee1516 What part didnt you understand? The only reason people listen is because he's young. What's more simple than the subject of belief. and yeah, he can do anything because he's 8. He can do whatever he wants because he can be molded. and i personally wouldnt want my kid to be molded into a motivational speaker. Motivational speakers really just get paid to say you can do it.

  • great empowerment and love - thank you for the greatest valentine any Americ

  • مبدددددددددددددددددددددددددددددددددددع

  • Wow !!!!! Amazin video

  • Great job Dalton.

Powerful message, powerful delivery. Most adults cannot perform as well as you. You are amazing. I am sure we will see you in the spotlight again. Keep it up, this is the stuff heroes are made of.

  • this kid is just amazing!

  • Wow you kids are racist, holy shit

  • At school my teachers got all the juniors (grade4,5,6.) And we have to write a speach for a competition

  • my school showed me this vid now we have to write a speech

  • my teacher shoved this at me now i hate my writing teacher

  • @joekillerdude68 You are also very IGNORANT!!! Go somewhere else with that BS!

  • lmfao me too i had to watch it today at my school

  • wow,your cool

    ;(

  • @highislandkids maybe to those who are ignorant.

  • Very nice speech!

  • LOL this kid is ****in fearless

  • Amazing =]

  • He truly is inspirational. Our education system needs to produce more students with this enthusiasm.

  • I see a future president right here, lol.

  • you are the one who are sick. i hope God has mercy on your soul its 2009 and people still using that derogatory term.

  • @5024L Wow... Sorry you feel that way, but that's your problem and if you HAVE to act and speak like jerk then do it somewhere else. He is a better person obviously than YOU right now and I bet he's years younger than you... you should do something about that!

  • @5024L WELL I BELIEVE IN THAT AMAZING YOUNG MAN!!! I'm so sorry that you are that envious of him that you feel as if you need to call him terrible names!!!

  • You are such an inspiration to us all. My 8th grade literature teacher showed this to us in class. You are talented. Good luck in the future! :)

  • i can tell u 1 thing i dont believe in u

  • nick lui get owned. lololloloolololollolololololololollololoololololollolololollololollololololollololol...lawls

  • THIS KID IS GOD

  • nick, ur a noob

  • Some of the comments posted here are sad... this CHILD is amazing. At least he's making people talk... Hopefully change... Way to go kid!

  • You should question whether or not you should be teaching. You should believe in your students. It is not crap. You need another career.

  • amazing.

  • Bless his heart ..

  • this kid is awesome

  • Amen..Dalton Sherman....this government will affect your children's children...ROE V. WADE MUST BE ABOLISHED! ALL TEACHERS AND SCHOOLS SHOULD WATCH THIS VIDEO ARNE DUNCAN...remember me and EvAngel Mama Dee (Creator of Emmett Till Road) at the CPS Public Hearings!!!Ernestine Standbery a/k/a "MsE", Dir. of the International Prolife Federation...DO YOU REMEBER ME ARNE DUNCAN!!!!!

  • i was an orator myself when i was a kid..and how i wish i was as good as him...he is amazing...

  • what a good speaker! this kid's got a bright future

  • I can not think of a more ignorant statement. This boy was always in trouble because he talked too much in class. Now (with the help of an astute teacher) he channels that energy in to a speech that would be inspirational coming from ANY 11 year old. And you want to make it about RACE? You are the LAME ONE!!!

  • wow. you obviously dont know what you're talking about.

  • i think i'm gonna cry. his teacher took a gift and helped him dream a reality. WOW!

  • what a great kid! Very inspiring--for all the people that hate on this 11 year old, I bet you couldn't even do this now as 20, 30, 40, 50 year old, so don't hate because the kid is talented
