  • That Amtrak consist is more representative of the former Three Rivers or Broadway Limited than it is the typical Amfleet coach and lounge car Pennsylvanian. But, hey, it's your railroad, right?

  • @ChamplainDivision In my version of history, the Pennsylvanian was extended past Pittsburgh to Chicago, hence why it has more than just coaches and a food service car.

  • awesome yard

  • @CPWindsorsub Thanks!

  • Hi can you tell me what scale this HO or N scale thank you

  • @chatanugadotorg What did you use for the road bed?

  • @pele6922 It's cork roadbed.

  • nice sound dubbing! Oh nice layout too!

  • @hawleywe Thanks!

  • What an incredible track layout, man. So many switches, and sidings. I'm so jealous. I've always wanted a set-up like this. I just need a few more months to work on my Garden rail and hopefully it'll look something like this.

  • very cool but already on a much bigger scale than i can swing lost all my stuff to flooding starting over and the cost off dcc is stort shocking im looking a 3-4 locos max. ill be putting a lot of time and effort into less expensive scenery

  • @colnagocowboy Sorry to hear about your flooding.

  • @chatanugadotorg ty, im trying to look at it as ano opurtunity to start over, do new things. im just suffering from sticker shock at the cost of dcc-dcc/sound equioped loco's. im trying to think branch line just a few locos, lots of detailed scenerry

  • @colnagocowboy i knw that is really bad luck

  • oh tht makes sense

  • are u done, no detail??

  • @MrWarfreak7 No, I'm not done. Haven't had the time or money to finish yet.

  • Very cool, but I wish you would have detailed the trackwork with ballast and weeds, etc.

  • The layout is still under construction. I'm in the process of working out any little bugs in the trackwork and saving up money to do the scenery when I get the time. In the meantime, I'm focusing on finetuning the track before it is glued down and getting operations going.

  • Incredable!! What scale is this?

  • HO.

  • FANTASTICO, Bela manobra!

  • That was really nice to watch + the sound makes it real, only next time use a better camera, so we all can see, how beautiful your trains are. 5 stars!!!

  • Well, my webcam is the only way I have of making videos of my trains at the moment. Glad you enjoyed it, though.

  • wow cool lay out man moust have been alot of money

  • The layout itself so far to this point cost a little over $4000. And I've been working on it since 2003, so it's just been a bit here and there, which cuts down the expenses.

  • how do u change the points because i can only see on point moter

  • Switches in the yard have ground throws on them. The switches on the mainlines have little paper clip springs that hold them in place. They're moved by the tip of a finger. I'm planning on putting dummy switch machines on them to look like switches controlled by the dispatcher.

  • Very nice layout. The video was good too. A suggestion would be that when you run two ALCO RS11 locos, it would be more realistic if you had actual Alco sounds if possible. Alco's chug not roar like EMD's. Nice 567 EMD sounds though.Where did you get your train sounds from?

Keep it up. Can't wait for an update

  • Well, couldn't find any videos of Alcos switching to get the sounds from, so I had to go with what I could find. Basically, I found videos on YouTube that had good sound like what I needed and converted them to audio files, editing them into the video to fit the scenes. Glad you like the layout.

  • Man, i wish i had a layout just like this! The yard and everything! Props!

  • Glad you enjoyed it!

  • wooo!! excellent ... five stars...

  • Thanks!

  • Who needs scenery with trackwork and switching like this! Great job.

  • Thanks! Can't afford to do scenery at the moment, but I've been focusing work on operations, which is giving me a chance to seriously run everything. Because of that, I'm finding any little bugs and getting them fixed before the scenery goes down since it's easier to fix things with the track like it is now than after it's glued down.

  • Are you splicing all the video or are you using magnetic uncouplers too? If you are using uncouplers, what kind?

  • The video was filmed in segments and then spliced together, cutting out my hand reaching in to throw the turnouts. Also, I still have horn hook couplers on my freight equipment. Don't have the money to replace them right now.

  • amazing job! very realistic.

  • Thank you!

  • Beautiful! And excellent real life sounds!

  • Thanks!

  • Sweet.

  • thanks!

  • nice work, just one question which is, at the start of the video how does that one carriage come attached from the rest of the train?

  • I spliced the video so you don't see my hand in it. I then just left the car so it looked like it was coupled and pulled the rest of the train away.

  • cool, i'll have to do that then

  • i like your layout. do you have foam board underneath? thats what i'd like to do and i'll also have cork roadbed

  • Yes, it's two layers of 2-inch foam board on top of the benchwork with cork roadbed.

  • Awesome Layout.Keep up the great work!

  • How long does it take people to make these layouts?

  • I've been working on this layout since 2003. If I had more time and money, I'd have much more scenery done on it.

  • Well I have to say I'm jealous... It looks sweet!!!

  • that just leaves me in pure ahhhhhhhhh, that is insanely awsome, keep it up

  • Thanks!

  • If you get the chance go to the Norwalk&Western in Norwalk Ohio. It's 45min North of Mansfield. Nice stuff don't forget to weather it.

  • Weathering is still on the agenda. Just too busy anymore to get everything done that I'm wanting to do.

  • im 17 and just started a new job so after a few weeks of work im gonna start my n scale layout.i hope to have alot of autoracks and boxcars on my layout since those are the 2 main types of rolling stock that i like.ill eventually grow out of it and add more to my list lol.keep up the awesome work though.

  • HEY, DID YOU START YOUR LAYOUT YET?

  • that line of auto racks is beautiful.this is HO correct?very nice.

  • Thanks! Yes, the layout is HO scale.

  • OMG!!!!!!!!11 really nice viceo...but did you record the sound or does the train do it itself...one more thing, how much does it cost for one of thoes

  • The sound I got off some videos I've downloaded. I extracted the audio and then spliced it into the video from the layout. Wish my trains had onboard audio that good. As far as the cost, what are you referring to?

  • the train cars, how much does one of them cost. and i loved how you did the audio too.

  • Depends on the cars. I have 45 Walthers autoracks and two of the Atlas articulated racks. The Walthers racks that I got as kits were about $15-20 each. The ready to run ones were about $30. The Atlas racks I got for $45 each. Some of the racks I got off Ebay, and some of those are custom painted.

  • kool thx i am looking every where for one of thoes. and i could find any...its probably because i only look at hobby lobby

  • I've seen a lot of them on Ebay. Look for "auto carrier" and "auto rack", and you'll find a lot of them.

  • thank you alot, see i have one of those cranes and some of the containers...but it looks kind of dumb with out those train cars

  • Hey. Very nice video. I'm just getting back into modeling, this time N-scale to save space. Wish you lived closer (N. Georgia here). From your website you sound like a model-railroader who is actually pretty cool.

  • Thanks! If I had to start over with nothing but an empty basement and no trains, I'd probably do N scale since, as you said, you can do more in a smaller space. HO is still my favorite scale though as it's not too big or small.

  • Very nice! Thats a lot of Auto Racks to be shoving..Well Done!

  • Thanks! I actually overestimated the length of the staging track I was pulling the train into at the beginning, which is why it fades from about a half dozen cars on screen to the train backing up. I basically had to take off the first four cars after that for the first couple clips in the video.

  • so you videotaped the real thing and then made this from it

  • Nope. The audio is downloaded from online and edited into the video of the layout.

  • no i mean how do u know this really happened or is it just hypothetical. Where did u even get the idea to maneuver the train in that way

  • Each car has its own card with a 4-cycle waybill with it's routing on each of the four cycles. The cars being switched on to the near track will be continuing east to Pittsburgh while the cars on the far track are going to go to Cleveland.

  • That was cool!!

  • Thanks!

  • COOL sound

  • Thanks!
