Those who say that DM never covered anyone are obviously not fans because if they were then they would know that the did a cover of "Route 66" and "Dirt". There's no harm in doing a cover because it shows respect to those who came before. It's as if it was written for them begging to be covered. For example in DM's version there's that low Horn note that gets played. Heard that in few MM's songs, and also that familar "skipping" drum beat too. You may have heard that in Beatiful People, Diposable Teens, Kiddie Grinder (remix), Dope Hat. It's Unreal?!?! How'd they do that? lol!

Manson covers songs that were hits but most people don't know about anymore. Because of that, he and NIN etc were part of what helped bring back new wave, which in turn helped things like the Killers break into mainstream radio.
