that was marvelous!! we did it for my sister's Quinceanera a long time ago and remember watching the movie about a million times just to get it. hahaha! Great video; thanks for sharing!
Charming! What a lovely idea, and nicely performed. This is only one version of the Ländler - it seems there is a different one for almost every region of Austria - but this is my favourite. This makes me happy!
VERY VERY NICE. Hope the 2 of you are doing well. Wish I would have thought of this for my wedding considering I sang songs from the Sound of music to my wife the night we met. And this was in a biker bar lol. Had to show her I had a sensative side too. Thanks for sharing.
I always liked this dance, and these guys do okay but man they need to pick up their heels. Come on, people, it's a dance! And i love that one woman who obviously does NOT want to be touched by the other guy. And why do so few of them have one iota of what rhythm is? Pretty good for wedding dancing, though.
I'd love to do that dance at my wedding but I'm sure my future husband wouldn't be too impressed XD. A 1940's theme sounds really nice though-frills yet simple dresses that are decent ^^ Beautiful.
Hello Caressek! The steps are a combination of things. We had to watch the Waltz scene in The Sound of Music over and over to figure out the steps. My husband also attended a university many years prior that does this waltz at dances so it was a combination. We made a video for our wedding party to then learn it on their own. My husband and I are considering posting that video on here for others to learn the dance. Thank you so much for your comment!
You can find the music on an extended version of the Sound of Music Soundtrack. It shouldn't be too hard to find. We got ours at Barnes and Noble. Good luck!
Anyone can do it, Fox! We sent out a DVD instructional that we made about a month before the wedding. We all then practiced before the rehersal dinner. Those couples having trouble stayed after the dinner and went out into the hotel parking lot and danced to the car stereo. It was hilarious--great memories and a great way for the wedding party to get to know each other. We had a blast and it was sooo worth it in the end. People are still talking about out wedding. LOL Good luck to you and yours!
This is fantastic! For the last 25 years it has been my dream to dance the Laendler with the woman I love. When I fell truly in love it was with a woman who does not like to dance! :-( 8 years of marriage and I'm still working on her. Bravo to you for pulling this off!
I was interested in where you found the music for this. I've looked all over but couldn't find it anywhere! So if you could just tell me where I'd really appreciate it!
You can actually buy it from the Sound of Music Soundtrack; however, there are two different copies of the soundtrack: one that includes just the main songs, and another much larger one which includes The Laendler!! Good luck and let me know if you need more help with finding it!

In order to pull this off, we made an "instructional video" for all of our wedding party, mailed it off about a month or two before the wedding and asked everyone to learn it. Then we practiced it after the rehearsal dinner. It wasn't perfect, but I think everyone pulled it off fairly well. Thanks to all of our bridesmaids and groomsmen for learning this! Also- Hats off to our outstanding videographers!
Ha. That, was, awesome. Congrats on the wedding (a couple of years late, but still).

At 1:30. She gives him this little matronly "Don't you DARE touch me" nervous expression.
