I always loved the Blondie movies when I was a kid. I wish they would be shown again. Penny Singleton is absolutely fantastic in this number. It's a shame they didn't utilize her singing or dancing ability more in the Blondie series. I remember this movie was the first Blondie movie I ever watched and it's one of my all time favorites.
NOT DAGWOOD!!!LOL!! THAT WAS GOOD FOLLOW UP!! BUT YOU GET WHAT I MEAN?? TRY TO GET OVER BOB HOPE AND BING AND JERRY LEWIS AND ARTHUR DRESSING UP LIKE HOOCHIE MOMMAS AND TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK!! THAT WAS GOOD!! IIIEWW!!! HEY HE SURE LOOKS ALOT LIKE JETHRINE(JETHRO BODINE'S SISTER)!!
Anyone ever notice how gorgeous the women were in all these old flicks? AND THEY DID NOT HAVE TO HAVE CLOTHES PAINTED OVER THEIR RUMPS AND BREASTS HANGING OUT LIKE THEY WERE ON DISPLAY IN BAKERS SQUARE!!! I mean they had a TRUE classy SHA DAMN!!! FOXY look.. I just looked at several Bob Hope movie clips and could not help but begin comparing with the wanna be women at the clubs a couple nights back. Everyone shake it until they marry and become huge as LARRY--fitzgerald----
Long before she played "Blondie Bumstead"on radio and in the movies..and "Mrs.Jane Jetson"in the popular 1960's tv cartoon show..Ms.Singleton was a song and dance performer.Which she does once again in this scene with Tito Guizar.
@143AC Both the Blondie films and the 3 Stooges shorts were made at Columbia and as a cost saving measure, music from one movie would often be reused in another studio production. Another instance: the song Anywhere, which was performed in the 1945 Rita Hayworth Columbia film Tonight and Every Night, was reused as dance music for Hayworth and Glenn Ford the following year in Gilda, also a Columbia production.
Columbia got double duty out of this piece of music......an instrumental version was used in a Three Stooges short a little later on......search this site under "Curly dances".....hysterical
This "Crase" as been there since the '30s and lasted through the '60s... "The Carioca" 1933 for starters, and Cugat was featured in Ester Williams movies in the late '40s, and they featured mambo music in "Written On The Wind", 1956... Also I think more modern Latin/Jazz was featured in movies from the '60s! We've always had a love for Latin music!
Well Blondie and Dagwood originally was a vaudeville team with all of the others. I never watched any of their movies but I plan to. Penny Singleton and Arthur Lake also appeared in the STooges' Stop look and Laugh as both Blondie and Dagwood. Ruth Terry is from Detroit Michigan and she was a female singer with the Glenn Miller band. Penny Singleton later in became Jane Jetson all the way through the 90's. She like Mel Blanc, George O'Hanlon and Curly Howard suffered a stroke.
I first saw this in '86 in high school... it ran through my brain then, then had a come back when I bought this DVD! What's scary is if you actually do the steps in public when hearing the conga in your head!
I specifically bought the Mickey/Judy DVD collection for the La Conga segment. I was delighted to find a stereo clip included on the special features. I remember watching these movies on Saturday and Sunday mornings on Chicago television, channel 9. The La Conga caught me the first time I saw it and I would almost have to say that it's my favorite five minutes of movie every. It's "desert island" material...you know, "If I were on a desert island..."
I love this video. I love watching the Blondie and Dagwood movies because they are funny. I seem to have missed watching this movie because I thought I had watched them all but don't remember watching this one.

I don't think Ruth Terry was a vocalist with Glenn Miller! Marion Hutton was (Betty's Sister).
