  • The 'reverse' ball return was the Brunswick Subway ball return. Quite a few lanes built in the late 1950's had them; it was Brunswick's first entry in the 'underlane' ball return equipment. Was not real popular with bowlers. Nice for Ball #2 to be right there where it came out, but a pain to have to walk all the way up to the foul line to get your ball at the beginning of a frame. When the 'Gold Crown' series came out in the early 1960's, Brunswick ceased the 'Subway'.

  • @ajankowski2..That was they only thing that was changed at Northland Bowl. I bowled there when I was a kid through out the 80's and nothing really changed about the equipment. The Brunswick A-2's were still doing their thing after all those years. I miss this place so much along with River Roads Bowl...

  • Hey, this is GREAT stuff. No big crankers - just precision. I had never seen a reverse ball return in my many years in alleys. Jack Buck and Chris Schenkel! Nice

  • Great stuff. I started bowling in 1957. and went on to bowl professionally at the age of 15 and did bowl NW Regional PBA in Houston in 1985. I cashed in the top ten out of 162. I averaged about 235 and really enjoyed it. I took up golf right after that and got to a 3 handicap in my golf leagues. What a great life it's been. I'm almost 62 now. Fuck, where did the time go.

  • dig that weird reverse ball return

  • @mistaphill I also forgot to mention Ray Blueth was in Houston about the same time bowling all the action.
