I love to use the siege chopper in this mission the geography, work very well for them..bring them in from the north and set them up around the secret battle lab with some desolators around them to deal with yuris
The siege chopper is very unique and all, but I find it pretty much useless, unless you're using it as an artillery weapon-as it's mini-gun while it's airborne is pretty weak. But if you wan't to do your strategy that way, that's fine, it's just it doesn't really help in getting under par time, or towards achieving your objectives.
Actually i find the siege chopper to be a devastating force in large groups. If you build two war factories and build an industrial plant and then keep building SCs, you'll have 20-30 in no time. Fly them north of Yuri's base to avoid ground defenses, put them into siege mode and just release the havoc. Once the area is clear, put them back into chopper and fly to the next area. Rince and repeat and you are done.
That is very true-I think they made Operation: Escape Velocity just for the Siege Chopper. I would follow through and build a bunch of those guys but the way I play this operation doesn't fit with the Siege Chopper.
Why would you build your base in the most narrow area? I can understand your building it there for a defensive purpose but there's a huge area just beside where you are, and building a line of battle bunkers there would be the same except your buildings have more space.
Actually man, I thought this mission through for a very long time, and choosing the location I did, is the only easy way to win this mission. Not only does it give you a bottleneck point for the end of the mission-and if you don't believe me about how many units they bring, it's overwhelming. The three tech oil derricks give you a huge boost of funds as you will run out if you don't take them. I've practiced this mission with the top left hand corner being my base, and it's a nightmare (cont.)
you will run out of funds as their is only one legitimate ore field there, the cliffs that overhang the eastern portion of the base provide a great little perch for enemy lasher tanks and gattling tanks to disrupt you, and if you try to expand south to attain the 1, here me out, only 1 tech oil derrick you will get trampled by enemy infantry rushes right there as there really isn't a great bottleneck point there, and you wont even have sufficient funds to build up ample defenses to defend(cont.)
it, and to add insult to injury there is another yuri statue waiting for you if you try to expand from your base, and believe me, you will have to expand if you want to get enough funds. If you choose the most northern option, not only will you be very close to the secondary base of Yuri, making early strikes a reality, thus making it a rush to build up your forces, and you don't have that much as far as funds go to start with. The ore fields right next to you won't just be handed over(cont.)
to you on a silver platter either. You will have to fight Yuri for that, and you won't have the money or time for that if you wan't to get under par. Keep in mind that I do every mission to get under par time and to show what to do to get under par time. I've shot all of the videos for this mission already and I do get under par time, and the location ends up being very important for me.
I think you heard me wrong but let me clarify it. I mean why would you place your base at the corner of the South area? You could place it at the larger area of the place you unpacked your MCV.
I placed my MCV at the same place you choose but in the more open area, and I finished the mission below par without much trouble. I mean you could just build your line of battle bunkers where you captured your most furthest oil derreck.
My idea behind building the 2nd line of battle bunkers, north of the secondary base containing the oil derrick, was based off of the fact that I knew I was going to get trampled by Yuri's forces later on and it would serve as backup. The over all position of my base and organization of my base didn't really matter to me, as I knew that I would ensure that the bottleneck points I utilized will be covered.
You should have gone top left, then sent an engineer and troops in an amphibious APC to the bottoom right, capture the Oil Derrick and place a Refinery, bingo, 2 bases...
You have to take out the unbelieveable amounts of Boomer Submarines to start with, which saps you of funds you need to get under the par-time limit(which is essential in my eyes). And once you get over there, they actually have another base over to the east and they will trample a secondary base-as your initial base doesn't provide enough funds if you chose to go to the base in the NW.
couldnt you take the top-left, use all the resources then move to bottom right and build up, selling everything top left periodically and using the leftover soldiers as decoy fodder?
Unless you really want to give yourself a challenge, bottom right is the way to go. But you don't really need those bunkers on the south end of your base. First thing you wanna do is capture the oil derrick in the south end, then build up close up that bottleneck completely with bunkers and sentry guns. After that you won't have to worry about your base anymore because there is no way yuri can get pass your defenses.
Yeah no kidding. Not to mention that they are pretty much worthless, that's why I used them for cannon-fodder in this mission. They even lose to the Sea Scorpion in scouting as well.
YURI`S BASE HERE IS BETTER THAN HIS TRANSULVANIA BASE. IF HE STAYED HERE HE PROBABLY WOULDN`T HAVE BEEN KILLED.

@YOSHILLER586 Yeah, I agree; his base here is pretty nice and effective defensively.

Plus they are outside range of gatlin cannons and psychic towers, making them even more deadly.

Yeah, I just get wary of the elusive gattling tank.
