as o2 wil not advertise.. they commissioned a network test by an independant company, and they are pig sick that Vf came out tops and they lagged somewhat way behind...
so all you numpties biased against vf.... do ur research
These phones are 3G devices which means they use CDMA codes to access the air interface. VF, O2 and Orange all use exactly the same configuration of UMTS and therefore this seems a fair test. The download speed they acheive wil be effected by how many other users there are on each network and what they are doing...but that is the whole point !
VF have by far the better network...what the iPhone had been waiting for !
Vodafone think they are so clever, but while they have been fannying about with inferior handsets, o2 had the iPhone ages ago, it seems like a large dose of sour grapes!!
If these iPhones are on 3G, then the concept of timeslots does not exist RootGinger - they exist in the world of '2G'. Also - I assume these are independent tests and therefore, if Voda have managed to get better coverage in this unbiased location, then I'd say that's a good reflection of their NW as a whole.
These tests are completely irrelevant except for someone using the device in the room the test was completed. Someone in another location could get a completely different result. Anyone who knows anything about cellular telecom's would know that you just wasted your time doing these tests. For example did you find out how many timeslots you were using on each network? More timeslots = more bandwidth. A busy cell will reduce the available timeslots and therefore your bandwidth at any moment.
in India we also have Vodafone and it's speed is relay great. much better than other providers like Airtel or reliance.

if "3" network was there it would have ripped the others to bits.

orange did a massive overhaul on their network a few months ago, did that have any effect on 3g network speed?

it's because they had an agreement with O2 exclusively..........which means that other networks could not sell the iPhone for two years !!

I do not understand?
The O2 iPhone is using EDGE and not 3G as per the Orange and Vodafone iPhones.
