@momovomo yes. But that is an exception, normally it takes much longer. I don't know why this one did so exceptionally well. Maybe it had already a sleeping sprout and was grafted just a the right spot.
@DRCEVNL awesome!! i found some opuntia in my greenhouse, so i tried grafting some hibotan (?)/ the one that has no chlorophyll on to it. do you think it will survive?
@11Kiizu I would think that the tissue of Opuntia macrocentra is not soft and sticky enough. In that case the tubercles will dry. I haven't seen the tissue of Opuntia microdasys. So give a pad a cut and feel if it is a little bit soft and sticky. In that case it is worth an experiment.

@myriostigma Hi myriostigma, Opuntia compressa is quit hardy and the tissue of the plant is just soft enough. Compressa is widespread in the USA. Mesagarden was selling seeds of Opuntia compressa from Manmouth Co. NY USA. I tried for example Opuntia basilaris but the tissue is not as sticky and not soft enough. Probably there are enough Opunta's around that will do the job.
wish you succes and thanks for becoming my youtube friend
I think it depends on when timeperiod the tubercles would normalle sprout on the motherplant. For exmaple pediocactus knowltonii will sprout in general after the summer rest period. At my own supprise one of the tubercles of this pediocactus went mature withn 4 months (so sprout, bloom, seed) after a tubercle graft in july i think. Other tubercles did no give a sign of grow for one year, waiting for their natural period for sprouting. So it will probably depend on the kind of plant your grafting
i see!!!, well then now could be a fine time to try some Grafting i think. ok Doc. and thanks again for sharing your knowledge and we are on contact. have a nice day :)
nicely done video. I might have to try that some day.

@momovomo Did you take a tubercle. If thes plants normallu sprout from the top of a tubercle it should work

@fishkeeping123 what you mean by small ones? Yes it works. Do put them in the sun right away. Wait for a number of weeks.

Is that a Mammillaria sp. you are grafting to the Opuntia pads?

@weiliiiiiii The tubercles come from a pediocactus knowltonii (cites protected, so use only cites certified material)

Ok, thanks for your remark on the loud music. I will keep that in mind for the next time. Another thing i could try is to use botom titles
