  • Wow. Cool . Thanks. Now i cant wait to get my guitar

  • How would you play chords on a lute tuning?

  • Make more, my friend!

    Greetings from Brazil!

  • Wonderful tutorials... I would like to be taught by you personally. As I am aspiring to make beautiful Lute music. Any Suggestions on how to locate a Teacher in Los Angeles? Thank you

  • great right hand technique. hope i can get it this smooth and dynamic.

  • thanks again great work!

  • First of all, great tutorials! grazie mille. I have two questions: 1) if the lute's original tuning is GDAFCG, I expected the guitar's tuning to be the same. Instead, you keep it with the original tuning (EBGDAE) and just change the third to F#. Why? 2) If I would like to try and play the Ballo di Mantova you show using a re-tuned mandolin, how should I tune it, and what strings should I use? I understand the Ballo only uses the two lowest strings, so I'm hoping it'll be easy. Grazie.

  • @Syphograntus

You're absolutely right... it's just that I think it's easier and faster to drop one single string (G down to F#) than tune up all of the strings to GDAFCG; and yet, thus your strings would break or at least be very very hard to play. Better to do as I suggest and then add a capo on 3rd fret.

you can tune your mandolin as you like, just respect the intervals between strings, from the lowest to the highest : III IV IV (for lute : F (III) a (IV) d (IV) g)

    bye!

I am sorry, but I am not sure I understand. Why don't you use a capo on the 3rd fret in the video?

If I understand correctly, after you lower the G, the capo shifts the tuning of the strings again (by shortening the neck of the guitar, so that it will be more like a lute's). The EBF#DAE is changed with the capo (goes higher 1.5 notes?)?

I am sorry if my questions are strange, I am new to this.

For the mandolin I tune the courses to gdaF from bottom up.

    Thank you again

  • @luteplayer80 If I get a lute how many strings should it have?

  • Anvedi er pelato! Sei sempre il più bravo.

    Saluti,

    Sara^_^

  • Great video !!!

While I find a nice lute shop close to my house I can enjoy myself with my guitar.

(Not sure about my neighbours :) )

  • Very good ! Great thanks !

  • I am dying for the next part in this!

  • Of course, a guitar sounds much sweeter with the lute technique and no fingernails.

Your videos are great. Perhaps it'd be nice to kind of end your videos with a short lute piece.
