@lelechim Do you know if a toner can work for brass in brown hair, or are there any made for dark brown hair? I can't seem to find much on getting rid of brass if you already went and tried to lighten hair to dark brown from black that now has brass :(

@diANASOURRrr ... look at it in natural light, what color do you see primarily? If it has red, its warm. If it's more Ash, its a cool tone.

This information is so dated. You can use any color but take into consideration your skin tone/color and if it turns brassy just use a toner...don't use ash colors, I have level 6 color hair and ash always turns out crappy for me.

if you want orange hair, try Loreal Majorouge copper red. You can buy it cheaply at Sallys and it wont wreck your hair like shop bought dye. I used it and my hair went a lovely orange red

Well I think what she means is like when people attempt to bleach their hair and their hair turns out all brassy and orange, not the blond they wanted. Sure I have natural red/ginger hair so orange hair is cool! hehe

There's absolutely nothing wrong with red hair. In fact, it's quickly becoming the new blond fad. Lots of people see celebrities with gorgeous fiery tresses, natural and artificial, and are going for it. I have natural red hair myself and I wouldn't want any other hair colour on myself! :)

bleach your hair and then dye it bright blue

but bleaching brown hair makes it orange and orange cancels out blue

not if you use unred additive (removes orange/red from your hair) while you bleach it, then it'll be bright blonde... then all you do is add the blue dye to your hair and it will be bright blue.. not all bleach makes dark brown hair orange or red with the right amount and right additives, worst case scenario you just bleach it twice to get all of the color out of it so that it will be light enough to become bright blue.

i have black hair and i dyed it pink by first bleaching it.. i first got professional blonde highlights/ streaks all over .. and i bought nice, cheap color for $2 at Hot Topic/ CVS and it was really easy =]] hope this helped

as a cosmetologist i have to say that you are wrong saying that skin color does not matter!!! Skin color is one of the key factors in chosing an appropriate color for your hair. truearmo..... you should consult with a professional before coloring your hair

@TrueArmoAxchik more like hair texture counts, because dark skined people usuelly have thicker hair then light skined. And for dark skined people it's harder to dye the hair and also light hair will look better on light skin as well!

This is one of the first expertvillage videos I've seen where the "expert" actually seems to know what they're talking about.

I've dyed my hair a couple times. Once I did dark brown and after a while it had a green tinge to it. Recently I did light brown and it's a little orangey.

This really helped explain why.

I think she meant undertone of coloured hair aka the colour itself. But if you are talking abt the inner colour of your real uncoloured hair, its green for blondes and blonde for black hair. The rest im not too sure.

You really can't know exactly without lightening your hair, actually. Green is not an undertone, though, and neither is blonde. You can look to your eyebrows for a clue, if they're lighter than your other hair. However, if you have dark hair, you have red or orange undertones, to some degree. If you have lighter hair, your undertone is more yellow.
