  • This is great man!!! Is it an open G tuning?

  • nice man......am I reading this right...you made that guitar? if so NIIIIIIIIIICE

  • beautiful!

  • Don't be ignorant people, do your homework. It was originally named " The first Nowell" back in the 17th century. By the way, EXCELLENT playing and this is coming from a guitar player with 23 years under his belt.

  • sweet i never knew that

  • isn't it noel?

  • I use the correct Anglo-Saxon spelling of the song title. See my comment from a year ago as to why.

  • que buena afinacion esa

  • He played it amazing, but the smile at the end is the best of the song :-D

  • wow!! amazing!!

  • honestly..........that left me speechless, i enjoyed that, thanks and merry christmas

  • This is an awesome arrangement and played brilliantly! Will now have to learn it myself. Thanks for sharing.

  • Wow, very cool! As a swede, I am sadly not familiar with this song. I've heard the recording Eric Johnson did for the Merry Axemas CD and it's really nice to stumble upon a more traditional version. I like it, good job!

  • I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching.

  • you my man Gash!!

    well done buddy...^^

    nice playing....

  • Thanks once again!

  • YOU SPELLED NOEL WRONG

  • Sorry. Nope. This ENGLISH Christmas carol, dating back to at least the 16th century, is titled with the proper Anglo-Saxon spelling of the word in use since the 11th century. "Noel" is a recent bastardization (~150 years) attributed to this song in printed music books probably to appear more chic.

  • pwned :P

  • The bass on that guitar is AMAZING. wow... awesome playing =)

  • Thanks Alex. The cedar is very responsive to the low C note.

  • Merci. Bonne année!

  • Oh my god ... Brilliant playing o__o

Happy new year from a new french fan :D

  • Beautiful! I love the arrangement and feel. And the tone is outstanding.

This was great - thank you for posting it.

  • You're more than welcome. Glad you got to see/hear it.

  • Fantastic job Warren. Up to you usual impeccable standard.

A very merry Christmas and a happy new year to you.

    Adam

  • Thank you very much Adam. Have a great holiday season.

  • Sounds great! Lovin' the CD.

  • Thanks Dave. I'm glad you're enjoying the recordings too. Now, polish that Ziricote!

  • Best arrangement I've ever heard of that. What else you got? Merry Christmas Warren.

  • I wish I had Bring a Torch, Jeanette, Isabella and In the Bleak Midwinter... You can thanks Don for the arrangement.

  • Absolutely beautiful Warren. The recording sounds real great too. You have quite the arsenal of lesser-known Don tunes. Reminds me that it is time to break out that copy of Wintertide.

  • I friggin' love that CD! Have a great holiday season (I should have put that on the end of the vid).

  • As always: perfect playing and good musical choice!

So many thanks for inspiring me playing more exactly. Now I have to practice!! smile !

    dear Warren,

    all the best,

    wolfgang

  • Thanks Wolfgang. I only wish I could get one clean, perfect take of ANY tune I play... then you'll see a smile!

  • Haha, you are the wrong person to say like that!

    I should say so!

    merry chrismas !

    wolfgang

  • Warren...you rock!!!! Merry Noel!

  • Ha ha! Thanks Denis.

  • Great!

Perhaps you could post a video response to my video "My favorite Christmas Carol. What's yours?" here in Youtube. We're collecting people's favorite carols from all over the world to celebrate this Christmas time with everyone!

    Merry Christmas!

  • I added The First Nowell as a video response. Although, my favourite is "Un flambeau, Jeanette, Isabella".

  • Don't worry, thanks for the video response, you playing is beautiful!

    Have a great Christmas time!

  • I love it when I find songs in a tuning for which I already play another song (Bron-yr-aur). Thank you!

  • You're more than welcome.

  • superb . ;-) Merry chrismas. André

  • Right back at ya, André!

  • Well played. Very nice as well!

    Btw: Merry Christmas buddy!

    Pascal

  • Thanks Pascal.

  • LOVE THIS MAN! BUT ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS SOMEBODY TOO show me how to play SISTER SOUl! OR MAYBE NOT HOW ABOUT ALEX DEGRASSI HOLLY & THE IVY? LOVE YOU DUDE!

  • Thanks dude. BrokenArrow's sounding like a broken record with the Sister Soul reference. Ha ha! I have the sheet music. Shouldn't be too hard.

  • I like it... and I'm not a fan of christmas carols, but I like the playing with the tune, and putting in the stops and jazz'n it up a bit.

As usual, thanks for sharing it!

    Q

  • No problem Quinton. PLease have a look at my revised video description as there is an added "bonus".

  • Love the sound of the recording. I didn't know you knew how to play that one.

  • Well Pat, I've got to keep some cards close... Ha ha! I finally figured out the volume levels required for a decent sounding post. Once we move to the new place, and I hit 100K views, I'll be re-recording the less-than-ideal vids.
