The supra was designed after the Z32 was released. It was so far ahead of it's time Toyota and Mazda were playing catch up for years. Compare the 1990 models of the 300zx, supra and rx7 LOL!
i own a 620bhp 300zx, but had both as stock, always thought of the supra as slightly quicker, what shocked me more was i didnt realise supra also came with a removable roof, always thought thats where the 300zx came into its own, mine didnt. pretty sure that supra is more modded, sweet as hell though. mine died at santa pod where i blew the engine, and its spoier sits sweetly on the back of my z now, looks better than the high end 300zx spoiler. dont care which is faster, all twin turbos rule.

@sterben360z i drive a supra as well. and a single turbo is not a BOLT-ON. you need a stronger fuel pump, injectors, piggyback, fmic, new rail, new manifold, wastegate, bov, ETC. the supra had a lot done to it than just a bigger turbo...it wasn;t a single bolt on...if it was a single bolt on then u wouldnt need a t4 manifold..which you do. therefore it is more than one bolt on.
@mexces actually, a turbo is a bolt on. Bolt-ons require the motor to not be opened. Which all of the things you've listed if you note are also bolt-ons. & IMO stock vs stock - supra would take it. and the higher you go comparing the mods the further ahead the supra gets. More Torque & stronger motor. The only nissan motor that stands up to the 2jzgte is a RB26.

@MrPhxkinMassacre I love the Supra too, but every year the last gen 300Z was produced it was faster not by much but 0-100km the 300 would be ahead by 0.1-0.2 sec , and sadly in the corners too with the 4ws on the 300 the Supra would just fall behind coming out of the corners.The Supra's down fall was the one Turbo working at low rpms and the 2nd kicking in a higher rpms ,were as the 300 was both Turbo's spooling at once. Still when it comes down to looks , the supra all the way. just my OP
@RcriderST185 agreed however for looks im all 300:) and take 2 heavy modded versions it would be a fun race as well, it seems supras can achive more power but getting it down and out in the quarter would be the interesting part compared to how quick the z spools its turbos and such, just my thoughts

The debate has always been Supra vs Skyline, different people like different cars so each has their favourite for whatever reason.. It has never been Supra vs 300zx as there is no competition there.. The 300zx is worthless, even a non turbo supra is more expensive than a twin turbo 300zx..

You can't powertrix did. Bone stock ( long block and turbo) hp record is 520tq 480whp .

z32 engine bays are cramped, hot and untidy. the reason vg30dett engines have a rep for being unreliable is because no one exept enthusiasts takes care of them with regular services ect. and theyre cheaper than supras because, as mentioned, they havent appeared in any kids movies.
for the record, the BEST motor in the world is the toyota 4k-c. that truly is an indestructible motor.

Nissan's company isn't built off GT-R and Z sales alone or even close but it is still nice to know they at least offer them for those who want to buy them. It's an old saying that summed up pretty much means that the technology and lessons learned from racing are often applied to make awesome cars for the street. People want to buy what has withstood the rigors of a race track and winning doesn't hurt either.

@suprac19 300zx is voted one of the worlds top 25 most beautiful cars. Besides Nissans are completley reliable, that is if you know what you're doing.
The Supra wasn't on any lists of "25 most beautiful cars of all time" and it doesn't look like it could pass as an old Ferrari either. Granted the Supra looks damn cool but don't hate on the Z. It just looks better and more people agree than don't.
VG30dett it's a relatively poor engine, it's expensive and difficult to modify, it's very fragile and very costly to maintenance, you can't make any VG engine swaps because of the stupid emplacement of turbo's, it has a very small engine bay and overheats alot.
And as for HP potential, it's not on the same level as 2jz, in fact, no other japanese 6 cyl. engine is on the same level as 2jz.
those things can be remedied if you love your Z enough! haha. u can just install an inter-cooler and electric radiator fans instead of belt driven. its not too fragile really its just "picky" for lack of a better word. i do agree with the cramped engine bay though. mines pretty dammed cramped and mine doesnt even have the TT engine dropped in yet
Actually, the block and rotating assembly are among the strongest I have seen. I have many engine teardowns and rebuilds in my lifetime. The only thing I see wrong with the VG30DETT is the displacement. It should have started at 3.5L.
The trick for this powerplant, it to get it to flow to develop the HP.
Overheating is a result of poor maintenance period. This can happen to any car.
Depends what you mean by pure engine. Where as both the Nissan RB and VG can be used as a stressed member of the structure, the 2jz would shear through the central crankcase line. The 2jz was built to be a street engine, and a hell of a great one for that matter, but the rb and the vg was built to be race engines. Two different animals.

Supra has more head room for modification on a stock engine, VG30 is limited in its upgrades, looks terrible and Nissan Financial department in 94 announced that the car would not continue production due to its lack of sales and being butt fucking ugly

@mexces actually, a turbo is a bolt on. Bolt-ons require the motor to not be opened. Which all of the things you've listed if you note are also bolt-ons. & IMO stock vs stock - supra would take it. and the higher you go comparing the mods the further ahead the supra gets. More Torque & stronger motor. The only nissan motor that stands up to the 2jzgte is a RB26.

@MrPhxkinMassacre I love the Supra too, but every year the last gen 300Z was produced it was faster not by much but 0-100km the 300 would be ahead by 0.1-0.2 sec , and sadly in the corners too with the 4ws on the 300 the Supra would just fall behind coming out of the corners.The Supra's down fall was the one Turbo working at low rpms and the 2nd kicking in a higher rpms ,were as the 300 was both Turbo's spooling at once. Still when it comes down to looks , the supra all the way. just my OP

The Z32 has the fastest speed on record for 3.0- 4.6 Has won evry award a car can win out performs it in the events they were built for show me a supra that has run 10.9 bone stock with suspension. z32 engine bays are cramped, hot and untidy. the reason vg30dett engines have a rep for being unreliable is because no one exept enthusiasts takes care of them with regular services ect. and theyre cheaper than supras because, as mentioned, they havent appeared in any kids movies.
for the record, the BEST motor in the world is the toyota 4k-c. that truly is an indestructible motor.

Amen to that man. Granted there is a lot to be said for a good economy car. Like for every GT-R35 you see driving around you also see about 100 Sentras. Nissan's company isn't built off GT-R and Z sales alone or even close but it is still nice to know they at least offer them for those who want to buy them. VG30dett it's a relatively poor engine, it's expensive and difficult to modify, it's very fragile and very costly to maintenance, you can't make any VG engine swaps because of the stupid emplacement of turbo's, it has a very small engine bay and overheats alot.
And as for HP potential, it's not on the same level as 2jz, in fact, no other japanese 6 cyl. engine is on the same level as 2jz.

those things can be remedied if you love your Z enough! haha. u can just install an inter-cooler and electric radiator fans instead of belt driven. its not too fragile really its just "picky" for lack of a better word. i do agree with the cramped engine bay though. mines pretty dammed cramped and mine doesnt even have the TT engine dropped in yet

Actually, the block and rotating assembly are among the strongest I have seen. I have many engine teardowns and rebuilds in my lifetime. The only thing I see wrong with the VG30DETT is the displacement. It should have started at 3.5L.
The trick for this powerplant, it to get it to flow to develop the HP.
Overheating is a result of poor maintenance period. This can happen to any car.

Depends what you mean by pure engine. Where as both the Nissan RB and VG can be used as a stressed member of the structure, the 2jz would shear through the central crankcase line. The 2jz was built to be a street engine, and a hell of a great one for that matter, but the rb and the vg was built to be race engines. Two different animals.

Supra has more head room for modification on a stock engine, VG30 is limited in its upgrades, looks terrible and Nissan Financial department in 94 announced that the car would not continue production due to its lack of sales and being butt fucking ugly

They stopped in 96 in the us and 99 in japan...keep your opinion to yourself, just because your biased to the supra and think the 300zx is ugly doesnt mean everyone else thinks the same thing as you. Can you honestly support the fact that nissan stopped production because it was "butt fucking ugly"? Plenty of people find the Z car beautiful. I have respect for both cars like a mature person and dont need to defend one and hate on the other. They're just cars.

damn i love the 2jz and the vg30dett but,
gimme 20 grand to spend on a Z and 20 grand to spend on a supra (including cost of the cars)

Supra was obviously modded more. Mod both cars with the same mods/amount of money and the race will come down to driver skill.
