It's programmes like this that warped peoples views on Kubrick. It inspired so much bullshit mythology surrounding him. He wasn't a loner/recluse in the slightest.
I honestly feel because artists now have so much given to them and technology has made art so simple it's almost devalued the mediums (filmmaking, painting, music) and artists now have become nothing more than lazy technicians worried only about "What's in" rather than being creative.
Living now in the 21st century, we are in a time where we can watch films over and over and over in a thousand ways and spot any flaws or failings in HD and on DVD and Blu Ray and freeze the frame to see it. Whose films stand up the best as the ones that are closest to flawless? Stanley Kubrick's! He was decades ahead of his time.
kubrick called mcdowell a genius... just goes to show how low some actors will go to insult the people who make their jobs possible. McDowell is just pissed at kubrick because kubrick had no use for him after clockwork
@Gallifrey1991 That Thomson is a fool and I can't believe they left his ignorant, moronic statements. I wonder if people like him see themselves on the interview and realize how fool they sound and are ashamed or if they are soo clueless that they don't see how foolish they are.
"I don't think he believes in people, I don't think he believes in family, I don't think he believes in country. I don't think he believes in women." Thomson's such a fool. The guy was married for over 30 years to the same woman and had 3 daughters. Watch Stanley Kubrick: A Life In Pictures, it's there. Some of the interviews here are interesting, but McDowell takes it all back in Life In Pictures.
@lawnbank Right, McDowell admitted that a lot of what he said was because Kubrick hadn't kept in touch with him and he was sort of crying out for contact. : (
@lawnbank fuck malcolm mcdowell, what the fuck does he know, his career was a bone that kubrick threw to him. without kubrick mcdowell would be a poor actor with no career. how dare he has the balls to criticize kubrick.
