  • A buddy of mine has a Ram 1500 turbo diesel, he's running 52psi out of a Holset turbo, its running mid 13s in the quarter mile, that thing is insane. I tuned down my turbo from 25 to 10 psi to race him, we were pretty even, I missed 4th gear and he got me by almost 2 cars, it was a good race.

  • The truck is an 04 with a 6.0. It has intake ,exhaust, and a Superchip tuner. I ran a 9.33 and the Vette ran a 9.03.He lost the race on the tree and in the 60ft. I had him by 4 car lengths out of the hole.

  • yes, the 6.0L powerstroke is a turbocharged V8 diesel. Some of them are coming close th the 1000 hp mark.

  • no its a 6.0 the last year for the 7.3 was 2003 for the F250 and F350. 2005 was the last year for the 7.3 in the F450 and F550

  • Including Labor? 5k will barely cover the injectors. That is like 20-25 hours of labor. I like the new 6.4 but Like the cummins cuz I can change injectors in about an hour. head studs in 3-4 hours and a turbo in 2 hours. And I can do that all in my driveway or garage without a lift. Powerstrokes 7.3, 6.0, or 6.4 all a pain to work on. HEUI needs to go away. I wanna see someone convert a 6.4 to a cp3 setup. That would be a 1000 HP easy -dpf, egr, spartan tuning, elite turbos and NO2

  • @dieslpower2 well i suppose more than 700 hp on a 6.0 or 7.3 would be difficult because that requires money and if you think it cant be done then obviously you dont have any because the companies that do the work on my 6.0 industrial injection, elite diesel and liberator performance they dont seem to have problems holding 800+ hp but then again i guess us ford guys just have to have a brain to build power but yeah your right making power from a common rail dosent require much thought my bad

  • @dooinithard I can change pretty much anything on a Cummins in the driveway with the body on and the engine in the truck. I can't say the same for Powerstrokes. I know that changing injectors on a Powerstoke 7.3 or 6.0 would not happen in my driveway. Thats all I am saying. I know very little about 6.4 PSDs and 6.7 PSDs maybe they are different. I have seen every model of Powerstroke over 800 HP it is possible just not cheap or for your average shadetree mechanic.

  • actually the 06 f250 weighs 6,395 lbs. and the heaviest unloaded suburban is 6,039 lbs. close but the f-250 depending on modifications is likely to be around 7500 lbs atleast. and by the way the z-06 cant hang with diesel trucks. my 06 cummins 3500 has .4 seconds on a slightly modified z-06 in the 1/4.

  • Heavier Frame, axles, transmission, and even a big block gas engine is around 200 pounds lighter than a 6.0 powerstroke and about 400 pounds lighter than a cummins... You would be surprised as to how much newer trucks weigh. My 94 ram with a cummins 2wd reg cab long box weighs 5600# with me in it.

  • un-burnt raw fuel=white, black is an incomplete burn due to the fuel to air ratio leaning very heavily twards the fuel side which is why when the boost pressure catches up the opacity level of the smoke starts clearing up significantly. It is not a loss of power by any means, otherwise why would the 8 second drag trucks/sled pullers smoke like freight trains? I dont want to explain the whole why its very unlikely to get into an overfueling condition resulting in negative power gains.out of space

  • Dr. Performance has a Cummins running 7.87 e.t. That's in a truck body too. They haven't completed the funny car one but they're estimating low 7's. Try that with a PSD or a D-Max. I like 6.0 PSD and I like D-Max's too but you can't beat a Cummins. As for that 6.4 PSD you can keep that crap.

  • There have been no such rumors of a big block in the Camaro. Even so, when people look for muscle cars, who the hell looks for the small block with a supercharger? LS6 Chevelles bring the big bucks, so do the 426 Hemis from Mopar and the 428 Cobra Jets for Ford... I mis-spoke myself on the turbo vs. supercharger on the GT500... But then again, my Chevelle is NA, so I don't worry too much about that boost bullshit, anyways. :)

Why would I pick up a GT500 when, supercharged, I don't have much I can do to improve, while I could get a 505hp Z06 (more cash, mind you...) and still have room to improve being that it's naturally aspirated?   • Hate to egg this on, but I have an F-250 with 4" lift and 35" tires. With just tuner, air intake, and exhaust (minus cat and muffler) we were putting up low 13's on the track.

    If this truck got the jump on the vette, which it appears it did it's quite possible it could beat it.

  • Bully dog alone on a 6.0 powerstroke will not beat a stock corvette. It might keep up, but that's about it. SCT is a night and day difference vs bully dog, but even SCT has it's limits.

  • dude, I've seen these trucks at the strip with the bully dog kit or the banks kit and these guys are building huge boost at the line and launching it in 4 wheel drive, then at 60 foot or so they shift it back to 2 wheel, and I've seen em go late 11's early 12's consistently.

  • There is no Banks or Bully Dog kit that will enable a 6.0 Ford, or any of the 3 diesels to turn high 11 to low 12 second quarter mile times. They have done quite a bit more than just "full Banks or BD kits." Also, it is a complete waste of time to shift from 4wd to 2wd as it will not actually go back to 2wd until the driver lets out of it at the end of the run.

Never tracked it but am thinking mid 13's if I am really dialed in. To go big, you need a race tune and injectors....plus some good, aftermarket head studs! A bullydog isn't going to take out that vette, bunch of bs.....sorry. And yes, tune up a duramax or cummins and they'll slaughter a powerstroke! Just being objective here. Ford is still the nicest...lol.

  • Lots of disinformation about diesels! "I heard this, I heard that". Yeah, mine whistles like crazy. Took it for inspection the other day, guy asked what kind of turbo I put on it. I said I didn't, it's stock! Really gets loud with the 4" exhaust, even with stock intake. It's almost too loud for my tastes actually! It was already pretty loud when I bought it brand new. Sure gets some looks though...
