I'm sorry, but this interview is 4:01 of oversimplified garbage. I know out of experience that all these options such as deferment and forbearance are fine and dandy, but they MAX OUT at some point. The real problem with this interview is that it COMPLETELY dances around the real issue. That is, students are drowning in these student loans because THEY ARE TOO GODDAMN HIGH and the people JUST DON'T HAVE THE CASH. The American higher education industry got greedy and now we have a mess.

hi got 2% on my 30000 loan so it is tough went before 2006 admit in student loan i was 25000 in credit card debt paid off in 7 yrs how to do it well average guy let see balance transfer and stick with it, dont use cosolidation credit card owe more interest and basically transfer to each one works

I hate to burst this guys bubble but lowering the loan payment is not the best solution..it too is only a temporary solution. Remember the lower your payments the longer it will take you to pay off the loan and the more interest you rack up..just like credit cards..not wise to make minium payments because you will just end up in debt longer with tensof thousands of dollars more in interest that accrues and capitalizes becoming part of the principle balance!! pay them off as soon as possible!

Hopefully, they will recognize the benefit of not being seen on t.v. or making themselves known through the internet or an other non-discrete media. Its a perfect storm? Or its a huge scam created by the deregulation of monster crooks like Sallie Mae? The US is at the very bottom in education. I think we're equal with Liberia or something.
