It stops short of rotation because there is not enough force to push it back. What you need to do is put more "arms" around the wheel to create further force movement. Say you put one opposite of the one "arm" facing down, it would force the other side to touch, then the opposite is true, thus creating constant force and movement. It will be like a train's wheel links.
the top magnet is being resisted on the way down. maybe try spinning the bottom magnet in a 12 inch circle timed to the bike wheel and shield it for 300 degrees leaving a two inch space for both magnets to face each other at the bottom of the stroke. maybe it won't meet resistance coming down. probably still won't work though.
why not try the whole wire piston guide? i dont think it will work anyway, but then it would be a true "replication". keep on trying tho. just remember that not one OU/PMM/free energy device works, so dont waste money on the scamms, instead come up with your own ideas and test them. its a great hoby, and can lead to new ideas for efficiniecy of new devices. just dont give into lies...
Have you tried using a V track on the outside of the rim, so that when your shaft meets the big magnet, it perpells the V track back in to its repulsion that drives the wheel around again.
that is a magnetic spring, sure there will be less loss than with a metal spring but it is still the same thing. you will never get a miliwatt of power.

This is perfectly balanced so it's always opposing itself. You need to create an imbalance so it goes more one way than another. Probably wouldn't work, but if you geared the lower magnet to the wheel so that it spun, alternating north and south poles pointing upwards, pulling down when the weighted magnet is up, and pushing up when the weighted magnet is down that would be a start.
there is someone who managed to make a machine that runs off of magnets, well technically it's just a metal ball rolling around a circular track nonstop for months. though this appears to be eternal, it isnt. the magnets lose energy everytime the ball passes by them, so inevitably the magnets will discharge and the ball will stop. btw, in the case of you machine, the wheel is pushing against the magnet on every downstroke, essentially it's stopping itself with its own motion.
The reason none of your variations of this machine worked is because your machine is like a ball bouncing up and down, without someone applying force to it, it will eventually just land on the floor and roll away. You need to change other aspects of the wheel if you wish to make it spin continually without external forces helping it.

I just saw a comment on here that helped me remember the one generator expierement that I was telling you about. The comment was that the magnet needed to get away from the one on the floor I believe.
In the video I was telling you about it was secured farther out on one of the spokes. It ran slow but steady.

The simplest analog to these types of motors is also run by gravity, a roller coaster. There is an enormous amount of energy put into the car from the first downhill slope. However, there is NO fancy track shape that will allow the car to climb the last hill and begin the 2nd lap with more energy.
@jotacril My perpetual mobile has to do with metal losing their magnetic properties at high temperatures. You can pull a metal block to a magnet with a high force, but if you heat it near the magnet, it cost's less energy to move it away from the magnet, whilst the heat in the metal block stays the same. If you can turn the heat in the metal into electrical energy, the block cools down and is attracted strongly to the magnet again. Probably there is something wrong, but I don't know what yet.

@jotacril Not true at all. 1 friction is less after an object has momentum so it is possible for a device to need something to start it in order to overcome the friction. @jotacril My friend for his senior project actually made a motor kind of like this but had 3 pistons. It worked for awhile but then stopped hes working on it to get it alot better.

What you have demonstrated is both the static and dynamic properties of using a magnet to perform work. You are using the magnets in the same manner as a spring. If you replace your magnets with springs and turn the wheel, you will collapse the spring which in turn will shoot the connecting rod back up turning the wheel. This continues until the energy in the spring is used up and the system reaches equilibrium. Its a lot like a rubber ball bouncing until it quits.
Nice work... I suggest footlings;... First you just trial the magnetic force (F) > Counter balance (CM)... Second just trial appropriate angle of the magnetic force (you should change the the angle according to the direction of rotation).... If u don't mind please show again the result in youtube video... Your counter weight is not set up exactly the same way as in, itsblackdog. Look at his video real carefully and you will discover a subtle but important difference in regards to his counter weight. At some point I will try and replicate this experiment.
you need to have some kind of shielding that automaticly shield when the piston goes towards the magnet....It takes energy to push it against the magnet....Thats why it stops! Off when piston goes down...and on at the lowest point so the magnet push it up again! Then it should work!
The magnet at the base needs to have much smaller width, and it should also be tilted slightly left or right (depending which way your spinning the wheel)
mabey, you could time the speaker to turn on when the neo. magnet is closest to the speaker using a small battery, you could keep that sucker going for a while!
The magnet is being used here as a spring. Springs offer no propulsion on their own. They have to be loaded. Eventually all the energy is released, as we see here.
The idea will simply never work. Think of the two fields as some sort of spring you cant see and you will see the problem.
The force produced by the magnets and gravity both only depend on the positions of things. It doesn't matter whether you get to the position coming or going, the force is exaclt the same. As a result, when you move one way, you add energy and when you move the other you take it back out. The two energies will exactly cancel, less any friction.

Should you put two magnets both on the other side of each other
then they would stop when the spaces between both magnets are the same.
lets say you have a magnet at 12 and 6 o'clock then it would stop at either 9 or 3.
changing the polarity on the magnet will just put the rod in the different direction nothing else will change.
the thing is you can spin it to create motion but the magnets will correct this motion its just a matter of time.

Its very simple these magnets just want to create as much space between them as possible.
that is why the rod on the rim stops on top.
it takes a while for them to get to the top because of the spinning effect.
but slowly the magnets will take the upperhand and send the rod to a halt at the top putting the magnets as far away from each other as possible.

I just saw a comment on here that helped me remember the one generator expierement that I was telling you about. The comment was that the magnet needed to get away from the one on the floor I believe.
In the video I was telling you about it was secured farther out on one of the spokes. It ran slow but steady.
Have you tried lowering your wheel to the ground so you can use a shorter plunger?
I find this kind of stuff to be very fascinating!

Laws of "perpetual" mouvement machines :
1- They don't need inicial impulse to start running.
2- Once running they don't stop unless brake is aplied.
3- They work without electric wires or motors attached.
4- And finaly... they never work, whatever you do or try.
If any of these rules is violated, the machine is a fake .

It is impossible to generate "free energy" and that is a fact. The closest they came to do so is by using the magnetic decay of a neodymium magnet - which needed energy to be magnetized and thus is not free.

@Splundo The reason it won't ever work isn't because of our lack of understanding of the physics, unlike the flat Earth or 30 mph speed limit. Here is the principle... Hope you understand it.
The simplest analog to these types of motors is also run by gravity, a roller coaster. There is an enormous amount of energy put into the car from the first downhill slope. However, there is NO fancy track shape that will allow the car to climb the last hill and begin the 2nd lap with more energy.

1-They might need initial impulse, but the generated energy should be more than the energy put in.
2-They might stop running if you take out energy (which is the point of a perpetual mobile)
3-They can use wires or motors. As long as your output energy is bigger than your input energy.
4-I have designed a perpetual mobile, and my physics teacher can't find the error in it.

@jotacril My perpetual mobile has to do with metal losing their magnetic properties at high temperatures. You can pull a metal block to a magnet with a high force, but if you heat it near the magnet, it cost's less energy to move it away from the magnet, whilst the heat in the metal block stays the same. If you can turn the heat in the metal into electrical energy, the block cools down and is attracted strongly to the magnet again. Probably there is something wrong, but I don't know what yet.

@jotacril Not true at all. 1 friction is less after an object has momentum so it is possible for a device to need something to start it in order to overcome the friction. That is basic physics. 2 rule 4 is flawed in that it is self supporting such as "no device can ever fly." Thankfully the Wright Brothers didn't listen and now we have planes that fly around the world. Perpetual motion is nothing more than converting one energy source into another. IE Hydro Electric.

As unbelievable as it may sound Earth is slowing down. Think about it, all that galactic dusts, etc. Plus, how do you think the Earth began spinning in the first place? On its own? Energy can not be created nor destroyed, only converted from one type into another. Basic laws of thermodynamics. Therefore, no, it isn't rotating perpetually.
What kind of drum set do you have by the way?

@jotacril My friend for his senior project actually made a motor kind of like this but had 3 pistons. It worked for awhile but then stopped hes working on it to get it alot better.

@jotacril Actually, they may require an initial impulse to start.
They multiply the energy already in the system. If there is no movement, they cannot increase it.
And they may require an electric motor to be attached, provided they generate more energy than is being put in.
The only law of perpetual motion is that more energy comes out than is put in. It's still impossible, but your laws are wrong.

You need to displace the magnet much more at the bottom to the side, so the magnets gets loose at the bottom from the attracting magnets
at the bottom.
You can also add 90 degrees iron core plates to redirect the flux asymmetrical.

What you have demonstrated is both the static and dynamic properties of using a magnet to perform work. You are using the magnets in the same manner as a spring. If you replace your magnets with springs and turn the wheel, you will collapse the spring which in turn will shoot the connecting rod back up turning the wheel. This continues until the energy in the spring is used up and the system reaches equilibrium. Its a lot like a rubber ball bouncing until it quits.

Nice work... I suggest footlings;... First you just trial the magnetic force (F) > Counter balance (CM)... Second just trial appropriate angle of the magnetic force (you should change the the angle according to the direction of rotation).... If u don't mind please show again the result in youtube video... I'll replicate this for my grand sons

Your counter weight is not set up exactly the same way as in, itsblackdog. Look at his video real carefully and you will discover a subtle but important difference in regards to his counter weight. At some point I will try and replicate this experiment.

you need to have some kind of shielding that automaticly shield when the piston goes towards the magnet....It takes energy to push it against the magnet....Thats why it stops! Off when piston goes down...and on at the lowest point so the magnet push it up again! Then it should work!

The magnet is being used here as a spring. Springs offer no propulsion on their own. They have to be loaded. Eventually all the energy is released, as we see here.

The idea will simply never work. Think of the two fields as some sort of spring you cant see and you will see the problem.
The force produced by the magnets and gravity both only depend on the positions of things. It doesn't matter whether you get to the position coming or going, the force is exaclt the same. As a result, when you move one way, you add energy and when you move the other you take it back out. The two energies will exactly cancel, less any friction.
There is no free lunch.

I feel SPLUNDO shows courage in the very action to post the endeavor. Insite holds keen regard to technicalities considering many things that an initial "view" reflects. There is a working order. It really depends on 1/10th Millimeter setups,
