@dryfrog2002 you are dryer than Joan Rivers vagina and you suck lactating elephant nipples. Other than that this kid has A LOT of talent for some one his age.
I played the violin as a youngster and put it down for over 20 years. Ashokan Farewell was played at my grandfather's funeral and I started to look for versions on YouTube so I could hear it. This clip of you playing inspired me to pick up the violin again! Great job and thanks - from the bottom of my heart! DO NOT LET ANYTHING MAKE YOU PUT THAT FIDDLE DOWN!
It's obvious that some of the comments here are from envious people whom I bet have never picked up an instrument in their lives. Any one of us who have experience with a string instrument realize how well this young person is playing. Stop being jealous and start learning people; your musical appreciation will blossom..I promise.
I wish that the people viewing these videos would have respect for individual interpretations instead of regarding their interpretation of the music above anyone else's. I believe that this child did a phenomenal job, especially for his age, and that he should be extremely proud of himself. May I add that he has a marvelous vibrato? :)

Terrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm playing that for All-State. The bow directions are ALL WRONG and practically MOST of the notes. Who plays a 5 total long note and on the 4th beat switches to an open string. THAT"S RIGHT! NO ONE! DISGRACE! AND RIGHT THERE IS no talent. I started playing the violin when I was 5 years old. I still have the 1/16 violin in my closet. That kid just stinks, but is better than average.
i don't like how he vibratoed like evernote, it kinda killed the slow melody of the song, the preformance was decent for his age, and he needs a smaller violin!!!
It seems as though he was rushing a bit, and the intonation was sometimes off, but the tone itself, especially the vibrato, was absolutely beautiful. He has immense talent.
(This is one of my all-time favorite songs, by the way. :) )
That is reeeeeeally good for his age. Smaller sized fiddles have a tendency to sound really high pitched and...er..horrible. But he made it sounds beautiful.
very good kid!! but you need to get those fours on the A and D string higher!! i loved when you did the c naturals and when you went on the a string, we have a very similar style of playing this song.
yes he was going too fast in the beginning... but that's only because he's a beginner himself and doesn't have the age/experience to "feel" a song like he will when he's older. His mom slowed it all down when she came in.) Good job though... keep up the work, kid!
Sheesh, I'm harpist and they gave me a frickin piano part for this... like they alwats do... and im expected to play a solo with a violinist in about three weeks! i just got the friggin music!!!
to be honest; one of the best versions ive heard in a WHILE - GREAT tempo, wonderful expression... can't believe i can feel the emotion from a 10-year-old
He is still amazing too :) He was 1st chair and i was 2nd in our orchestra then!

Bravo.
Very Good.
If the violinist can play this well at the young age, imagine what they will be playing like when they are 20-30.

Good job, but I thought it was a little bit too fast and a little bit out of tune. But again, good job.
