  • He is still amazing too :) He was 1st chair and i was 2nd in our orchestra then!

  • Wish I could play as half as well as he does

  • @dryfrog2002 you are dryer than Joan Rivers vagina and you suck lactating elephant nipples. Other than that this kid has A LOT of talent for some one his age.

  • very nice :) especially the vibrato :)

  • I played the violin as a youngster and put it down for over 20 years. Ashokan Farewell was played at my grandfather's funeral and I started to look for versions on YouTube so I could hear it. This clip of you playing inspired me to pick up the violin again! Great job and thanks - from the bottom of my heart! DO NOT LET ANYTHING MAKE YOU PUT THAT FIDDLE DOWN!

    Melody

  • heyy i play the violin too and i fort that that was ace :D and i love the song

  • It's obvious that some of the comments here are from envious people whom I bet have never picked up an instrument in their lives. Any one of us who have experience with a string instrument realize how well this young person is playing. Stop being jealous and start learning people; your musical appreciation will blossom..I promise.

  • I wish that the people viewing these videos would have respect for individual interpretations instead of regarding their interpretation of the music above anyone else's. I believe that this child did a phenomenal job, especially for his age, and that he should be extremely proud of himself. May I add that he has a marvelous vibrato? :)

  • i thought it was extremly remarkable that a child of such young age played this song. best of wishes for the future

  • Lovely! You are a very talented child.

  • Bravo.

    Very Good.

If the violinist can play this well at the young age, imagine what they will be playing like when they are 20-30.

  • yeah i have pretty high standards for kids playing in the christian inspiration section of barnes&noble too

  • You know what just shut the fuck up you terrible person - who clearly thinks your better than a kid like him.

How can you compare yourself. Everyone has their different standards.

  • i don't like how he vibratoed like evernote, it kinda killed the slow melody of the song, the preformance was decent for his age, and he needs a smaller violin!!!

  • STILL A DISGRACE!!!!

  • u messed up on measure 14!!! DISGRACE!!!

  • It seems as though he was rushing a bit, and the intonation was sometimes off, but the tone itself, especially the vibrato, was absolutely beautiful. He has immense talent.

(This is one of my all-time favorite songs, by the way. :) )

  • man thats as slow as its supposed 2 be!!!

  • the violin looks pretty big for him, he should get a smaller size, but hes pretty good for his age.

  • I HAVE KNOW CLUE WHAT THAT SONG WAS but it was AWESOME!!!!

  • 1:13 - that was one dumpy looking person that walked into the frame

    I love this song

  • ahahhahahaah

  • very nice indeed, keep up the nice playing

  • That is reeeeeeally good for his age. Smaller sized fiddles have a tendency to sound really high pitched and...er..horrible. But he made it sounds beautiful.

    Personally i prefer it slow.

  • not a surprise, he's asian. "My father says that beacause I live in America, I have to be a world famous violinist."

  • Awesome for his age. I've loved this song for a long time.

  • very good kid!! but you need to get those fours on the A and D string higher!! i loved when you did the c naturals and when you went on the a string, we have a very similar style of playing this song.

  • OMG!!! i wish i could play that good!!! and i'm older than him too!!! very talented, and it sounds really nice!!!

  • Barnes & Noble O_o wow

  • Wow he almost makes this piece seem easy to play. Very talented kid, keep up the good work!

  • i like it better fast........... when the mom came in it all went slow.

  • yes he was going too fast in the beginning... but that's only because he's a beginner himself and doesn't have the age/experience to "feel" a song like he will when he's older. His mom slowed it all down when she came in.) Good job though... keep up the work, kid!

  • Good job, but I thought it was a little bit too fast and a little bit out of tune. But again, good job.

  • you should put more feeling into it!

  • I played this song in 6th grade and what barns and noble r u at I am from Guilfrod ct age 16 and play viola and piano

  • this is in SW Denver area

  • Lovely. I wish my local bookshop had nice live music like that. Such a beautiful tune. Well played young man.

  • Mom and baby boy sharing the talent DNA. Beautiful thing. Bravo!

  • I cannot believe people could just walk by and not stop to listen. Bravo

  • what barns and noble r u at

  • it sounds like he rushed, we played this song in our crchestra and we didn't go that fast, and it sounds better with a whole orchestra.

  • Why am I finding so many little people who learned this song way before I did. I learned it in 7th grade!!! Why do I feel inferior now!

  • aww...ur so good and ur so little..i was not that good wen i was little...imagine wen your my age youll be famous..lol

  • our school's orchestra is playing this next week, and we're downright horrible. Kudos to you

  • your better then the chine kid

  • That is good I play the viola and I played this song in sixth grade but why are chinese always so good at insterments

  • aww...you're so cute!

  • Sheesh, I'm harpist and they gave me a frickin piano part for this... like they alwats do... and im expected to play a solo with a violinist in about three weeks! i just got the friggin music!!!

  • our orchestra had to learn 10 pieces in 2 weeks for disneyland, so dont think its that big of a deal. we're only 7th and 8th graders...

  • Beautiful

  • yea my orchestra is playing a full selection of Ashokan Farewell, i love this song, its so much fun to play.

  • Wow, that is very impressive. I...wow.

    I can't even play that song...wow.

In the beginning though, their was this squeaky, sound, but maybe it was just me.

    I gotta practice some more...

  • There are a few places where he paused, but for a 10 year old that's really good!

  • I sound better grating cheese

  • to be honest; one of the best versions ive heard in a WHILE - GREAT tempo, wonderful expression... can't believe i can feel the emotion from a 10-year-old

  • I know billions of kids learn to play "Ashokan Farewell" on violins every day, but DAMN is this kid great!

  • Excellent that kids got talent

  • I have talents too

  • But of course you do

  • How old is that child!?

  • 10, playing violin since 6
