  • steve asheim you kick ass dude the one foot blast kicks ass brother but your double blast killer brother!

  • the future of metal should be a REEEEAAALLY LOUD AND FAST double bass.

  • ive never seen this

  • but if i buy is short.....i can play like he?

  • He plays so beastly, his blast are even called "Blast Beasts"

  • It's cool for Steve to make these videos. This dude is old school. Rock on Steve!!!!!

  • i cant help but looking at his name and thinking world of warcraft,

    i love both....

  • is it just me that notice that he have had to much free time? (the massive wankmuscle)

  • Can't believe people hating on Steve. He is a monster. He has been doing this probably before a lot of you were born.

what the fuck did he say

  • Order of Ennead kicks so much ass

  • i think he's a really average drummer..

  • @SamIsYourOwner i think he s a great fkin drummer. not best technic, BUT who the hell cares? he composes great shit, his playing is fast constant and intense.

  • He's using his wrist sometimes ._. Guess it's the muscle :P

  • the slow arm fast foot is the groovy one, thats what i think anyway.

  • i guess Steve is very good at lariats as well.

  • HUGE ARMS!

  • @ClevoMaiden ?? where?

  • Omg from Deicide! wow!

  • this nigga is high as shit

  • @deathmonster2010 no pain no gain?? Haha its not weight lifting.. And define a lazy drummer who has developed his own or a less energy consuming technique??

  • @genicidegt hey man a good drummer is a good drummer. Technology has come a long way as well to make things EASIER and use less energy. This is in no way a flaw to any musician in regards to musical ability, just to a old schooler like Steve it would seem like the easy way that's all. Steve Asheim has achieved what most death metal drummers are after but the hard way , This is in no way a degradation on their musical abilities. Steve is old school but has the ability of a new schooler.

  • father asheim teach us drums!!!!!!! we love steeveeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!

  • Love how he forgot his own name.. xD

  • He actually knows his shit unlike these other newer drummers who just go up there and play whatever the fuck they think is cool

  • he long remembered his name

  • HE'S NOT EVEN TRYING AND ITS FUCKING BRUTAL AS SHIT!!!!!!!

  • Cheatin? To see what u can get away with?? He a great drummer but i dont agree with what he said.. If you learn or develop a technique that enables you to play faster but use less energy then to me thats what makes a good drummer..

  • @genicidegt no pain no gain buddy. I guess what he should have said was "lazy" not cheat.

  • he is so fast

  • he looks like grandmaster of karate

  • not good.

  • nah

  • Skillz

  • we love Asheim andthe Deicide with the old group(brs Hoffman's)

  • master.

  • Dennis the Menace from MACABRE is an underrated drummer everyone forgets.....The drummer from that Australian band DAMAGED Matt Sanders is also awesome and one of my favorites

  • his playing on the new Deicide is solid as fuck

  • IntoxicateDead- Thats because they ve probably never heard of Max Kolesne.

  • *whuts my name again?*

  • Those blasts and fills were terribly sloppy, and his technique for faster playing is awful too... meh. He was good back in the day, however he's far outclassed by many drummers now.

  • @Steve128967 That's standard progression. If the next generation- schooled by the current- is NOT better, then something is wrong!

  • @DazzKK True, but I mean, there are plenty of old school drummers that have kept up over the years-- Flo, Mike Smith, John Longstreth, Gene Hoglan, Pete Sandoval, Lee Harrison, Alex Marquez, Dave Culross, Sean Reinert and Derek Roddy being a few of them. Asheim doesn't really stand up to a lot of those guys, imo.

  • @Steve128967 It's also quite possible he didn't get a warmup in.

  • @Steve128967 well you would expect the newer generation to be more advanced. Sloppy? Steve Asheim is not the most technical drummer he is a super tight drummer that's solid and consistent with his playing. Drummers these days have better capture, production and technology to help them out so i would expect drummers of today to be better, i still think despite the competition Steve Asheims playing feel is something that cant be matched.

  • @deathmonster2010 No dude... he's incredibly sloppy. Even in this vid which is in a relaxed home environment, not an actual show (where I know with some reliability that he's usually coked out of his mind) his feet flams with the left hand majorly during blasts, his right hand technique is AWFUL + can't keep up during the skank beats, his rolls are messy and inconsistent, he's struggling to get the notes out during anything involving double bass, again due to bad technique... etc.

  • @Steve128967 loose id say not sloppy. He has a unique style that is not NEW or AMAZING its solid and in my opinion of todays standards. Takes a lot of balls for a old schooler like Steve who was already playing at speeds of today with precision to take it too the next level. Its takes more balls to be around for so long and still keep up when compared to someone who started learning at that "Standard of today" level. Listen to Steve triggered, he sounds like his feet are going to burn off.

  • @Steve128967 did you post a video? I can't find it... would love to see.

  • @sslyssk Did I ever say I could do better? No, and really, it's an exercise in futility to compare Asheim's 30 years of playing to my 1 and 1/2... however, I'm also not a professional, whereas he is. Although, I will say my singles aren't abysmally sloppy like his are.

And really, not being able to do something yourself doesn't mean your opinion is somehow invalid. Like, at all.

  • he seems so stoned lol, and it seems some of you are complaining about sound quality, hes pretty tight for being untriggered.... and possibly stoned lol

  • For me its about Dave Lombardo, Gene Hoglan, Pete Sandoval, and of course Steve Asheim

  • Poor Steve, forgets his own name at the beginning.

  • derek roddy and thomas lang are much more better!! sorry to steve ashiem fans.. :P

  • Steve Asheim Is An Excellant Drummer.

I See The Debate Over Fastest Drummer, And I Cant Fathom How People Can Forget Max Kolesne.

  • Steve Asheim is the master blaster \m/

  • dont forget derek roddy

  • love his beats

  • es mi baterista favorito aunque no me gusta la banda

  • lol he should do a video on how to play "dead by dawn" XD

  • i dont know how Joey Jordison was ranked the fastest drummer of 2010 or whatever year. he is fast but this guy put him to sleep. steve could beat joey with one foot. other drummers who are faster then joey; dave lombardo, paul mazurkiewicz, george kollias

  • @FIFACommentater btw no disrespect to slipknot they are awesome. i think steve asheim is the fastest death metal drummer ever.

  • I thought the bomb blast was when the double bass does twice the speed as the snare, but here he explains it as when you use two feet and match the snare.. hmm...

  • LoL his an amazin drummer but he has a hard time explainin wa he does but it's not like alot of drummers can do wa he does with out brakin their foot of havin their calf xplode . LOL

  • Awesome. Much respect for Steve Asheim.

  • true, but i think his bad technique was the thing that made deicide first album sound even more brutal.

  • @apxeli Fenriz said once (and he was so fucking right): "the most boring drumming I know is from people that are overqualified".

  • Steve is a fucking animal... but the sound in this video does NOT do any justice.

  • does he use triggers

  • @MAGGOTSOlDIER626 he prolly has to with the speed that he has

  • great drummer but ..almost forgot the name..

  • @Getchafuck1 he forgot he used to be a rapper

  • @AaronEXtremeMetal696 he' s a metal drummer only on holidays..

  • i never knew snoop dogg playing drums

  • @AaronEXtremeMetal696 hahahahahahhahhahha and he is cuz he forgot his name..so too much weed...

  • @Getchafuck1 i saw a comment in other videos saying that steve looks like a white snoop dogg. but he really he.

  • *is

  • @AaronEXtremeMetal696 i saaw it 2.

  • Didn't know he could blast so well. Definitely underrated. Nice ride patterns during the double bass routines.

  • Anyone else notice that big-ass lump on his forearm? lmao.

  • hahahah from :07-:09 he totally forgot what he was doing :D but AMAZING DRUMMER

  • i love steves drumming, i 39 and have been a fan since 1990. i got to see them once, but it was the best show ever.

  • Hi This is Ehmmmm...(Who the fuck Am I?....OH!!) Steve Asheim of Deicide...!!! (

  • His forearm muscle looks like a tumour.

  • Title: Blast ''Beasts'' lol

  • Is it me or does his head looks awfully small for his body?

  • i love how he plays so well but looks like hes not even trying

    DEICIDE FUCKING RULES!

  • Man the king has made some videos!!!! Steve, you have been one of my favs since I was a kid and now I am 34, 26 yrs playing... You are the man... keep up the great work, as usual and hope to see you live again real soon, new Deicide and Oreder of Ennead rule bro!!!! Christian Easley Rottrvore drummer....

  • I play drumms the way i play becaus of Steve!thanks

  • @Rapesquad exactly those my fav 3 as well fuckn gods!!!!

  • HIs left wrist looks so weird when blasting!!! hahaha

  • @MetalDeth777 I do the same thing. Curling over like that makes it easier to go quickly Marco Pitruzzella from Brain Drill and Anomalous does it too.

  • i wish i could kick doubles that smoothly. getting better with the "bomb blasts" though

  • fuckin god

  • Hi this is huh....... Steve Asheim with.. XD

  • Steve Asheim doing... what he does best

  • Saw him live in 2001 on halloween. I was impressed by his phrasing and overall musicality when it came to arranging song parts, and creating phrases with his two main crashes. He sounds better playing though than explaining what he's doing! lol.

Great drummer, a legend as well. He's been blastin' for more than two decades.

  • Most underrated drummer in death metal. No one EVER mentions him for some reason.

  • @zgates i agree man ,i was in a band called diabolic possession and we opened up for deicide, and he is a very very good death metal drummer i remember watching him play and he was great.

  • @zgates it is odd man, its like deicide are defo always mentioned with there impact in death metal but it always reverts back to glen and steves just in the background.

  • @zgates He also doens't really make sense or know what he is talking about

  • @zgates Man nobody mentions Deicide, cos most people are pussys who listen to poser metal

  • Damn kid rock looks different now.

  • @zgates Dude, DEICIDE itself is one of the most underrated Death Metal band ever. All you hear about is Cannibal Corpse, and compared to Deicide, CC is really awful IMO.

  • Dude. You are my favorite drummer. I think most death metal bands have evolved from your kick ass drumming. Post more vids, but break it down slow. With the blast beats, I'm still not sure what you're doing. Are the snare and bass notes being played simultaneously? Or Is it the bass snare bass snare beat that Lombardo uses? Rock on

  • ROTF, 3:54 that was fucking awesome, your alternating dubs, trips and quads fuck up the focaus on the cam. STEVE THE FUCKING MAN.

  • nice vid from steve!
