i just red did my clutch putting in a south bend single rated for 475 hp and shit i have the same sound what was it in the transmission i think mines the throat bearing
@Freightshaker8v92 its probably still the dual mass clattering the only way to fix it for good is to do the dual to single mass flywheel conversion for like 500 or so
yea thats true but man i love the 7.3 and just cant stand to see chips put in them cuz i think they got just enough power with out the chip so sorry fer goin off the handle like that lol AND JUST TAKE CARE OF THAT TRUCK LOL cuz there r to many idots out there who dont under stand and but it sounds like u got a good one so text me cuz im tryin to find a good trans for my 95
@anitaeidson1 well unfortunately this truck fell victim to a nasty 40mph tbone accident completely their fault but they totalled it and handed me a check for 10,900 and the truck back then i sold it totalled for 3,400 so i made 14,300 on a 96' with over 200k on it haha went n bought a cummins see my other vids!
@sillybandhaha i wish it was a 12v they are superior but only because the p7100 injection pump which can be swapped on a 24v which does have the crappy vp44 but hey i just replaced mine so im good for another 150,000 miles. all cummins still make goooobs of power n a shit load of tourqe. mines at 450/1000 with just basic upgrades. 7.3s do run good though that poor girl was still runnin strong after the accident. never missed a beat
@anitaeidson1 you are uninformed and paranoid theres a reason I posted certain info in the descrption my TRANSMISSION was fucked up because these trucks have a poorly designed dual mass flywheel and when they go out the clatter against eachother nothin to do with the chip. these trucks blow up when people ABUSE them. learn your facts
ok heres your prob.... stop reving it when its cold b 4 you blow it up. diesels need time to warm up and cool down. ps those 7.3s just do that idk y but they just do.
@247copenhagen im not a dumbass that was shot durin summer in texas it was 90+ outside and i had just gotten back from somewhere she wasnt cold for a couple small revs and no the 7.3s dont do that it was the dual mass flywheel chattering in the tranny which was goin out.
@GarrettKeetley did getting ass raped by the stealerships for anything cross your mind? neeeever go to the stealerships unless you wanna pay more than twice what a part actually costs.
Mine did this too with the dp. mine is manual like urs and the tuner might be made for an auto that is what was wrong with my truck. i sent it back and they reprogramed it for a manual. all is well now.
@johnbondy well the truck was wrecked before i could fix it BUT if I were you I would DEFINATLEY convert to a single mass! thats a no brainer the DMFW was a horrible idea to start with good luck to ya!
@Txpsd9673 The idea of the dual mass flywheel is good, it stops the vibrations at low speed and whilst gears are engaged at low speed. They can be broken by people trying to increase power with such a crude method as a tuning box or chip. They cause far too many problems as they cause the engine to operate outside a tolerance zone as this user found.
@urbex2007 if it was such a good idea then why was this the only transmission to use dmfw? and also please tell me why ford got rid of it with the superduty? hmmm and why has no manufacturer of the diesels since then used dmfw? very puzzling if you ask me... i think i may know a little more. theres also a reason that theres a very popular conversion to a single flywheel that 99% of these truck owners have done anytime they install an upgraded clutch. it seemed like a good idea on paper...
@zytekfan i completely agree i just think urbex2007 is an idiot for thinkin the dmfw is a good thing ha! just about every aftermarket clutch for the zf5 tranny are single mass conversions lol
@nbkr341 noooooo you have a IDI 7.3 which is ran by a mechanical injection pump there for cannot be chipped. search for the how to but basically you tweak your engine with wrenches and stuff like turning up the fuel screw
It is most likely your ICP(HPOP pressure) stabilizing or running low. Often times our 15* HPOP's on OBS 7.3's do not push enough oil to correctly fuel our injectors. This TW tune may call for more oil than you can provide at this point. Best thing to check this theory would be to get an auto enginuity scanner and check your ICP at WOT.
Well I was going to say maybe it's your EGR valve going out but the 7.3's don't have an EGR at all. From what I have learned, when you have a TW chip, and you get down below 1/4 of a tank of diesel fuel, it will start to suck in air. But in the video your tank is full. I'd give Tony a call, he'll fix you right up. I own a 2006 6.0 Powerstroke so I have some experience with it.
my buddy has a 94.5 with a dual mass flywheel it idle the same way that one does when he revs it a bit it clears up if it gets bad enough it wont run unless ur on the throttle thats how my 95 was
looked at your fuel injectors, cause air or fuel leak on the fuel return can cause that too. it happened to me the same way, but mine is different. i own a 1994 f 250 turbo diesel
lol oh you know those damn spark plugs cause all sorts of trouble on that dang diesel! lmfao I used to ask autoparts stores if they had any for my diesel just for shits and giggles. also it ended up bein the dual mass flywheel chatterin but who cares i got an inline diesel now!
Mine is doing the same thing.. i ordered the solid flywheel kit..500.00 ..then ordered the glowplug kit.. also a new starter.. and two new batt...getting deep in the pocket book now...lol..i hope it fixxes it... but ya it's kinda scary just started doing it a lil...then all hell broke loose.
Glow plugs, starter, or batteries wouldn't have anything to do with the way it idles. Unless theses parts were bad anyways, you just wasted your money. Should have gone with stage 1.5 or 2 injectors. I bet that will fix the problem. After 75hp tuner increase, you need performance injectors, exhaust, and torque converter to enjoy the 100+ settings of tuners. Beware that stock torque converters are not made to handle the 120hp setting. You'll need at least a grand to upgrade (BD or ATS)
ahooo but i did! lol i bought a 2000 dodge 2500 24v cummins 4x4 qc/lb auto w/ a chip, intake, exhaust ect ill eventually get around to posting new videos of the new truck
pull the chip and clean the deck on the computer then put it back in and see what it does...might be a bad connection with the chip plugged into the computer
I have a 97 powerstroke....My buddy has a dully 97 powerstroke...He has the same problem...Its your clutch springs...The have came apart in your clutch...
some of yall are fuckin retarded its not because of high mileage ITS A FREAKIN DIESEL! 204k is barely broken in! and no TW tunes are NOT garbage actually one of the best next to DP Tuner. and even though this truck is gone now, the reason it was doiong this is just like jtyler11688 said the 5spd trans has dual mass flywheels (bad design) so after time they start to chatter like that especially with a chip thats why an ugraded clutch converts it to a single mass. btw im a proud owner of a cummins
That sounds like your flywheel. If you still got your Dual Mass Flywheel, you should look into getting a Single. The DMFs go out at high mileage anyways, but with more power going through it your bound to tear it up.
i had the same truk with with around that many miles and i always loved fords but then mine just took a shit one day u gotta get a nice 24v cummins 5 speed they last 4ever
damn skippy my 96 250 has been worked to death lol.close to 245000miles on her. got a banks 6 gun and intake, injectors and twin 5 in stacks oh and a stage two pullin clutch. its a 4x4 too 4inch lift. ive pulled a 35' goose with a d5 on it doing 75 on the intersateand she wasnt even trying coulda prolly got up to 95-100 maybe. but she'll take anything i throw at her and lagh back in my face sayin is that it,,,thats all u got!!!!!!!!pshhtt!!!!damn i love my truck wouldnt trade her for a million$
ive experemented with about 5 or 6 programs in my 7.3 and TW programs are garbage and your rough idle is due to fuel pressure, timing, and injectors... shouldnt really hurt anything though.
your trucks doing that because the chip is tricking the high pressure pump to put out more oil and its making the injectors open too soon. my 2000 powerstroke does the same thing when i put a resistor mod in it
from what it sounds like your truck is missing when its idling. What happens is the chip controls the amount of electrical power each injector gets and sometimes it can cause injectors to sort out and not open the injector on the injection cycle.
well long stories short had a kid i go to school with tbone me at 40mph in a parking lot! no im not kidding but its alright insurance took care of me and i bought a 2000 dodge 2500 cummins with a whole bunch of mods! videos comin soon
My 94 and a half sounded like that when my starter was on its way out. at the time i thougt it was an injector or two or a cylinder not firing. two days later my truck wouldent start at all. so i ended up changing the starter out and she fired up just fine after that, no miss fire.
I had a 7.3 and I had 2 cylinders not firing after I did compression test. Pop test your injectors and do a compression test to see where that leads you. Definatly not the TW tunes. My friend has a 1995 with them and it does not do that. Maybe if you had injectors it would lope but not stock. Ive never heard one do that with just the TW tunes on it. It sound like cylinders not firing to me.
Would seem to me tha it is faulty injector or multiple. when you told me it did it a little before that tells you with increaed fuel delivery with your new chip the truck is not passing the fuel for your injectors right. possible to be hp pump too but not as likely. Take it to your local ford dealer have them do a cylinder compensation test if they can not sure if ford is different than international but that sound like it is where your problem lies
it would do that very mildly on stock waay before any mods were done and yes when i say chip i mean i took off my ebrake assembly to access the ecm actually pulled the whole thing out to scrape off the silicone
When you run the truck stock does it still do it? If this is a custom tune chips then it could lie within there because of an improper program. Not a coomon problem but has happened, in certain chips causeing ecm damage. When you say chip you mean the kind you split the ecm open and install that way correct? A new ford IDM is in the ball park of $650.00 used ebay units usally sell for around 250 or so
ill start checkin out idm prices my cam postioning sensor was actually one of the good ones stock but it was replaced anyway. and i dont have a programmer in this truck its a t.s. chip reburnt with custom tunes.
Honestly also you sound get rid of that programmer too go with T.S proformance those are your best bet with the non intercooled trucks. Does it still miss when running stock?
Sounds to me dude like it is a few things. One thing those trucks are good for are idm failures which is not always the place people look but it is a know problem. That will often cause the problem you are having. another thing is your truck is most likely part of the string of trucks with the cam senor recall which in some cases will cause that same problem when it does not sense porper cam posititon. Yes i am sure you do need inj orings too but this will not cause this problem you have.
those are ranch hand bumpers i love em its knocked down an 8pt buck at 70mph a civic head on at 35mph mustang rolled into front at 5mph and had a grandma hit and run from the rear all with no damage and all not my fault
well today i got a full diagnostics and injector buzz tests ran and everything passed suprisingly, so we called a psd pro and he said for sure its my injector o-rings going out due to being worn out from high mileage. thats seems to be plausible. i am getting bigger injectors very soon and if it stops with the stage 1s in ill know thats what it was
mine does the same thing. i have a 97 and it does it like that for maybe 10-15 seconds and then levels out like yours. i dont know what it is either. its annoying but it sure is a fast chip.
yea mine does it to...thankyou for showing me im not the only one...your problem.....air is getting in the lines so ive been told. its a common problem on the strokes i guess. coming from the sending unit in your tank. thats what the guy told me i took it to. said he worked for ford for a while and he always worked on the diesels and this was a pretty common thing. it suck tho doesnt it???haha, rev it, rough...drive for a while, stop..rough. o mines a 96 as well
It does it when its cold

your trucks doing that because the chip is tricking the high pressure pump to put out more oil and its making the injectors open too soon. my 2000 powerstroke does the same thing when i put a resistor mod in it

take it out!.lol

Ranch Hand?
DuraToTheMaxxx 2 years ago
mine does that on stock setting every so often, if its constantly doing in for you then its probably not good

i would recommend a TS 6 poistion chip due to how easy they are to install and the amount of power that can be obtained.
cumminspower517 3 years ago
from what it sounds like your truck is missing when its idling. What happens is the chip controls the amount of electrical power each injector gets and sometimes it can cause injectors to sort out and not open the injector on the injection cycle.

i was thinking its spittin to much fuel in the fucker. like the truck isnt burning the fuel enough?

Txpsd9673 3 years ago
aw man sorry to hear that
thornrob 3 years ago
wtf dude how did it get totalled? you had a nice truck?
lickenboobies 3 years ago
My 94 and a half sounded like that when my starter was on its way out. at the time i thougt it was an injector or two or a cylinder not firing. two days later my truck wouldent start at all. so i ended up changing the starter out and she fired up just fine after that, no miss fire.
powerstroke94 3 years ago
I had a 7.3 and I had 2 cylinders not firing after I did compression test. Pop test your injectors and do a compression test to see where that leads you. Definatly not the TW tunes. My friend has a 1995 with them and it does not do that. Maybe if you had injectors it would lope but not stock. Ive never heard one do that with just the TW tunes on it. It sound like cylinders not firing to me.
hserebel14 3 years ago
Would seem to me tha it is faulty injector or multiple. when you told me it did it a little before that tells you with increaed fuel delivery with your new chip the truck is not passing the fuel for your injectors right. possible to be hp pump too but not as likely. Take it to your local ford dealer have them do a cylinder compensation test if they can not sure if ford is different than international but that sound like it is where your problem lies
powerstroke8994 3 years ago
it would do that very mildly on stock waay before any mods were done and yes when i say chip i mean i took off my ebrake assembly to access the ecm actually pulled the whole thing out to scrape off the silicone
Txpsd9673 3 years ago
i have the same truck and i was having the same problem, i couldnt take off w/o it dyin on me, and to find out it was my #4 injector.
tree222209 3 years ago
When you run the truck stock does it still do it? If this is a custom tune chips then it could lie within there because of an improper program. Not a coomon problem but has happened, in certain chips causeing ecm damage. When you say chip you mean the kind you split the ecm open and install that way correct? A new ford IDM is in the ball park of $650.00 used ebay units usally sell for around 250 or so
powerstroke8994 3 years ago
ill start checkin out idm prices my cam postioning sensor was actually one of the good ones stock but it was replaced anyway. and i dont have a programmer in this truck its a t.s. chip reburnt with custom tunes.
Txpsd9673 3 years ago
id check beansdieselperformance. they got pretty good deals
DieselSmoker89 3 years ago
Honestly also you sound get rid of that programmer too go with T.S proformance those are your best bet with the non intercooled trucks. Does it still miss when running stock?
powerstroke8994 3 years ago
Sounds to me dude like it is a few things. One thing those trucks are good for are idm failures which is not always the place people look but it is a know problem. That will often cause the problem you are having. another thing is your truck is most likely part of the string of trucks with the cam senor recall which in some cases will cause that same problem when it does not sense porper cam posititon. Yes i am sure you do need inj orings too but this will not cause this problem you have.
powerstroke8994 3 years ago
I would assume that it would idle like that due to the advance timing on the setting?
antiflag630 3 years ago
those are ranch hand bumpers i love em its knocked down an 8pt buck at 70mph a civic head on at 35mph mustang rolled into front at 5mph and had a grandma hit and run from the rear all with no damage and all not my fault
Txpsd9673 3 years ago

emd1085 3 years ago
oh and you prob notice while i was filming this a few times i completely forgot what to say lol but yall get the idea
Txpsd9673 3 years ago
well today i got a full diagnostics and injector buzz tests ran and everything passed suprisingly, so we called a psd pro and he said for sure its my injector o-rings going out due to being worn out from high mileage. thats seems to be plausible. i am getting bigger injectors very soon and if it stops with the stage 1s in ill know thats what it was
Txpsd9673 3 years ago
mine does the same thing. i have a 97 and it does it like that for maybe 10-15 seconds and then levels out like yours. i dont know what it is either. its annoying but it sure is a fast chip.
stinkinpower 3 years ago
yea mine does it to...thankyou for showing me im not the only one...your problem.....air is getting in the lines so ive been told. its a common problem on the strokes i guess. coming from the sending unit in your tank. thats what the guy told me i took it to. said he worked for ford for a while and he always worked on the diesels and this was a pretty common thing. it suck tho doesnt it???haha, rev it, rough...drive for a while, stop..rough. o mines a 96 as well
