@ved76 I like the way this sounds and Virtual Insanity had a number of tracks that sounded like this. That said, you should check out some of the other videos on here from their recent performances, i.e. Rock Dust Light Star, which show a return to form.
@ved76 exactly. it sounds just as over-produced as dynamite, like an outtake from that album. it's not at all what they promised, but maybe it's an outlier and the rest of this album will be more of what we expect.. or not. i'm sensing it's going to be dynamite part 2..a bunch of guitar-led soulless hackneyed pop-disco garbage with cheesy lyrics. the old 'deep' jamiroquai is gone, jay has no incentive to make music like that anymore. he's rich and comfy.
Heard the other WKR clip at mega-media.nl. This clip and that one have a very similar tempo, bass, and drum beat. Could they both be from the same version? So want to hear this track in full. Not long to go.

finally! 5 years that is too long. I went to see this summer, July 27, concert in Monte Carlo. a great moment of complicity shared with us, the fans. the intro is too crazy, strongly November!
That can't be a remix, sounds so familiar and funk dynamite odyssey and those weren't remixes, of course that's the fresh beats jamiroquai bring to us, as they have been doing in all of this years, excepting 2007, 2008 and 2009.

When I first heard the song Rock Dust Light Star my reaction was mixed. To me it sounded something from post-Dynamite. However I truly like this and it's synkronized style blend. But to judge the whole song on a 40 second clip probably remixed is useless. Let's wait for the real thing and then discuss.

anyone who knows jamiroquai (right from the beginning, like i do) can safely say this is NOT a remix... sounds very current-jamiroquai-like to me .. nothing like their old albums unfortunately, but catchy nonetheless.
@AZZARITI4 It sounds to me like the chorus of the song, if you listen to the start of this clip, its slower then it builds up into the chorus. I don't think it's a remix but I also think there is more to the song than this small clip :). Also, when they said its "Live", that just means that it was recorded live, it will still have been edited on the album, if not, to be honest that's a little bit unproffessional. Anyway regardless of all that, i love this sound! :-D
@jamiroquai01fan I don't agree actually :). Just listen to the beat: that's not derrick mckenzie's drum at all, it's way to monotone, it's a simple dance-beat. And what about Rob Harris' guittar? It's not even in this track. They said they wanted to catch the flow of their live-performances.. This sounds more like David Guetta then Jamiroquai in my opinion.

@miketbosa I do like it, but it's just an ordinary house-track in comparison to their funky live-performances of this summer. There are no horns, strings, percussions or guitar in this tune. It's totally different from canned heat imo. You have to know the difference between real funk-music and this kind of dance-music (so I'm hoping it's a remix, and that the real song is much more groovy and colourful). Just watch the paleo-concert and then compare to this track.

That's why I believe this is one of the RDLS remixes they announced a few weeks ago. Oldschool as well as "newschool"- Jamiroquai was always soulful and funky, but this track is imo just a house-tune.

It's a different thing altogether. What's the point in redoing something you've already done?

They already have a strong established fanbase, ready to accept everything they'd throw at it, that's a lot less pressure then before

That can't be a remix, sounds so familiar and funk dynamite odyssey and those weren't remixes, of course that's the fresh beats jamiroquai bring to us, as they have been doing in all of this years, excepting 2007, 2008 and 2009.

When I first heard the song Rock Dust Light Star my reaction was mixed. To me it sounded something from post-Dynamite. However I truly like this and it's synkronized style blend. But to judge the whole song on a 40 second clip probably remixed is useless. Let's wait for the real thing and then discuss.

I don't know how there can be any debate as to whether this is a remix or not?! Of course it's a remix! Sounds very similar to the Don't Give Hate A Chance remixes...
Quality remix and the original live recorded track will be even better!

anyone who knows jamiroquai (right from the beginning, like i do) can safely say this is NOT a remix... sounds very current-jamiroquai-like to me .. nothing like their old albums unfortunately, but catchy nonetheless.

Actually, it is a remix. They said on the website that the new songs are again live recorded. This track isn't live recorded at all, but mixed.

@AZZARITI4 It sounds to me like the chorus of the song, if you listen to the start of this clip, its slower then it builds up into the chorus. I don't think it's a remix but I also think there is more to the song than this small clip :). Also, when they said its "Live", that just means that it was recorded live, it will still have been edited on the album, if not, to be honest that's a little bit unproffessional. Anyway regardless of all that, i love this sound! :-D

@jamiroquai01fan I don't agree actually :). Just listen to the beat: that's not derrick mckenzie's drum at all, it's way to monotone, it's a simple dance-beat. And what about Rob Harris' guittar? It's not even in this track. They said they wanted to catch the flow of their live-performances.. This sounds more like David Guetta then Jamiroquai in my opinion.

@miketbosa I do like it, but it's just an ordinary house-track in comparison to their funky live-performances of this summer. There are no horns, strings, percussions or guitar in this tune. It's totally different from canned heat imo. You have to know the difference between real funk-music and this kind of dance-music (so I'm hoping it's a remix, and that the real song is much more groovy and colourful). Just watch the paleo-concert and then compare to this track.

and i guess thts the thing....jamiroquai fans are separated...some want the old sound..some want the new sound....but no matter what,im just soo grateful AND EXCITED that jamiroquai is ACTUALLY COMIN BACK WITH A NEW ALBUM!!

@miketbosa that's exactly how i feel. after 5 years, i'll just about take anything, but the rumour was that this record would be closer to the sound of the first 3 records and this song isn't like that at all.
let's just wait and see. for me the first 2 are best, T.W.M is a close third, Synchronized is ordinary, a funk odyssey was a great pop record that lacked substance, and Dynamite was frustratingly uneven, even though it was good. too produced i think

@lamentate07 you're right. The website says "We think at a time when many acts are producing electronic, disco influenced tracks, with ‘Rock Dust Light Star’ Jamiroquai has moved on and reverted to a more organic, live sound". So this just can't be the real track on the album.

yeah....i feel u....if u ask me,jamiroquai never lost their soul.......although dynamite and funk odyssey were mostly electro disco,but songs like tallulah,picture of my life,and corner of the earth were amazingly powerful,romantic and soulful.Jamiroquai has the power to balance evrythin,from rock,jazz,soul,electronic and disco!

@miketbosa Yeah, you're right. But my opinion is that this track barely contains any instruments and mostly a dominant dance beat. That's why I believe this is one of the RDLS remixes they announced a few weeks ago. Oldschool as well as "newschool"- Jamiroquai was always soulful and funky, but this track is imo just a house-tune.

@Dropzink lol - i like your comment, a little over the top maybe but i agree with it. The old jamiroquai is exactly that -"old!" it's gone, that was a different era, it was 18 years ago! Times have changed and so have jamiroquai. You have to take this for what it is. It sounds great, you cannot compare this to songs like "when you gonna learn" and "space cowboy"... It's a different thing altogether. What's the point in redoing something you've already done?

I hope the next album proves me wrong, now it seems Jamiroquai is rather a bunch of middle-aged (still excellent) musicians with not-so-much ambition (they don't need it anymore) who want to make a (very good) living out of music while taking care of their families. Yes I'm a retrograde blah blah, but really it's not about who plays what, or what style it is.. They already have a strong established fanbase, ready to accept everything they'd throw at it, that's a lot less pressure then before
