Went to Kirkby Nr Liverpool & New Brighton alternate Sundays in early 70's with my dad . New Brightom gaming banked curves!!,brilliant. Can still smell em. What a sight to behold Banger team racing was Invaders anthill mob phantom pheasant pluckers.Morris Oxford Wolseys Austin Cambridge .Happy days
As a classic car owner and a banger racer the classic car enthusiasts forget that the banger guys are the source of a lot of your parts. Interiors, badging, trim glass and a whole lot more they strip out
Pre 70's? What about the "Droopsnoot" Cavalier?! And the mighty Volvo estate..
The odd classic banger meeting is okay, but there seems to be loads of them. I know the vast majority of these motors would have been legimately sourced rustbuckets but to keep this number racing some have to have been found by other means.
It's a bit suspicious that folk are still finding collectable MK1 Grandads, and Rover P5's. I love banger racing but I've mixed feelings about this..
Agree with your words,I'd heard about a garage that was broken into, nothing taken-just a very much loved A55Mk2 Cambridge vandalised & then written off. Two steps to the banger track. Has to be the lowest form of entertainment
I'm no banger racer, but people can do what they wish with what they own. I know some of them, and they are very helpful and offered me cars that have been picked up that are too good for banger racing. In fact, the Rover P4 I now own was destined for the banger track, and it's wonderful. Trust me, a lot of these cars would not end up back on the road anyway, and they may look nice with paintjobs but thwon't make up for the fact they don't have much in the way of floors!!!

You robbin pikey fuckers are great aren't ya. How many of those old darlin's were robbed? Did that Practical Classics Mk1 Granada that you scumbags robbed a while ago go well? I hope it was worth it. The fella had only spent a small fortune.

Surprising number of Rover P6s and Triumph 2000s there...
can one of the racers answer some questions for me that I've always wondered about?
What are the rules regarding: crashing into the drivers door, hitting a stationary car with someone in it?
During a pile up, when and how do you decide when to jump out of the car? With all the smoke are you safer in the car or running across the track?
What's the rules regarding doing a 180 turn and heading into on coming traffic?
Cheers

Cars were made of solid stuff in the 70's. Not like the plastic of today.

The only car I'd smash up is the 'pre 1970 Vauxhall Chevette/manta'...the others should have been sold to enthusiasts!
