Actually, I was at this dojo when this was film. "Nisei Goju Headquarters, University of the Streets". The director for this documentary had to ask the referee Shihan Charles Bonet to control the fighters and try to slow them down a bit. It may not show in this clip but these guys were from different schools and were "respectfully" hitting each other with control and authority.
@bjjboy2050 actually this is kind of weird because another tape of the fighter in black showed a REAL kumite where the guys were popping each other and grappling. THis looks like a demontstration instead of a kumite.
big difference from today's slap and dance kumite..so watered down it just lost taste to watch (referring today's kumite..but maybe i just haven't seen any good ones) -_-"

These guys were pioneers for their time. Many of them had very little exposure to martial arts movies, ufc, etc. it's impressive in my books!
