also to keep my rant going about the lack of research into poker, he called all in but had a lot more chips than bond so he wouldn't have put them all in, then the pots would have been divided, finally in a real casino the dealer is not allowed to rearrange the board by putting the players cards in there, dear oh dear this was badly thought through! Rant over!
this is so bad cos in real cash games side pots are made, decisions take longer, why do they have chips over the line from previous bets? and why the fuck id bond playing 57 spades 4 handed with such a high stake, oh dear.
This is really just a scene showing the first nuts second nuts third nuts and Bond getting lucky. I don't see anybody folding any of the other hands either, except the nut flush which saw a paired board. Both short stacks would have moved all in preflop with KQs and 88. The blinds would have folded cuz A6o would easily be dominated and 57s is really just a random hand that just happened to be the absolute nuts. They all played it as badly as possible
What is the structure of this game? Is it a cash game with ever increasing blinds? hahah If the pot was 24M on the flop then each player had invested 6M. Why the fuck would the black guy invest ~60% of his stack preflop with 88. He would certainly leave himslef in a pickle if any overards come out hahahah
@readsummer We have no idea exactly how the pot got to 24M, pre-flop or post-flop. We have no idea who raised to 6M, and we don't know if THAT was pre-flop or post flop. But if I were the black guy and I got trip 8's on the flop, I'd have stayed in that hand too. So I'm going to go with POST-flop. He was lucky everyone checked on the turn so he got another free card & hit the boat on the river card. THAT is why he stayed in the hand. Jesus, does anyone else here actually play poker?
you guys do realize that they all played their hands terribly... that is if you look at the way they played professionally. i guess this has an exception thought coz it is a movie...
@arnaud769 no the other two had 6 and 5 million behind but bond and the villian both had well over that...if there was 150 mil in the pot and that leaves 139 mil unaccounted for... and bond only had 45 mil so he actually didn't win it all!
Let me settle the dispute over who had how much once and for all. Blinds were 500k & 1M. In this hand, the dealer button was on LeChiffre. Bond small blind, Asian was BB. Scene cuts to 24M in the pot, all players still in = 6M from each player. Turn card. All check. River card. Bond checks. Asian=6M all in. Black=5M all in. LeChiffre=12M raise. Pot is now 47M. Bond=40.5M all in. LeChiffre calls. Pot is 115M. So at the start Asian-12M Black-11M LeChiffre 45.5M & Bond had most w/46.5M
@indyracingnut what would happen if the asian or the black had won?? would they take all the money? cuz they didn't put in all the money. and the asian put in 6 million why is the black allowed to put only 5 million?
@nepalihercules Both of the short stacks would get 24M already in the pot, plus all else that was bet up to the amount of their all in bet. Asian would get 24M plus his own 6M, Black's 5M, 6M from LeChiffre and 6M from Bond. Black would get 24M plus his own 5M plus 5M from each of the other 3 players. All remaining amounts would be returned to the other players. It's called a side pot. There can be a lot of them when dealing with multiple All-In bets.
and all I am saying is he had already accomplished that with the three previous checks....sheesh....In other words I understand what he was doing just noting that it was not that necessary just based on Bond's and La Chiffe's previous plays...would you fold a Aces Full with that board? Cmon man it was a done deal once he re-raised two all-ins by doubling the pot....you knew no matter what Bond did he was going to call he was too invested...learn poker bro
This is confusing. The pot was at 24 mil. after the turn. Then they start raising the bet 24+6+5+12+40.5 = 87.5 ... In the end the whole pot is of 115 mil. So are they saying all those chips and blues and reds that Le Chiffre shoved in accounts for only 27.5 million ?:
What the hell was Bond thinking about after the river and looking at La Chiffe to see if he was bluffing?...nothing any of them would have in the pocket would be able to beat Bond's straight flush...there is no way to connect the 8 of spades to the Ace of spades with two cards...and 4 of a kind Aces is not good..so what gives?
@salvi1979 My friend, that's what we call in the business....slow rolling your opponent. If you KNOW you have the "nuts", your job isn't to go all in first and simply take down the pot. You check until everyone else bets all they want to bet and extract even more chips from them. If they go all in....too bad for them. Good for you though!! :)
yeah but he was in the last position after the river....there is no more betting so it doesnt make any sense to slow roll especially with 2 all ins and a raise...as a poker player myself as soon as la chiffe raised it was a done deal all in......even if he folds I have a huge pot...no way he goes away with a Aces full. Now that is poker my friend.
I think that ship has sailed with Bond's checks on the flop, turn and river LOL...and he knows La Chiffe will call his re-raise just on the logic that he doubled the all in bet of the chinese guy so Bond knows he has a strong hand but since he has a straight flush nothing on that board can beat him, and yeah as a poker player I would have given him a "trying to read what you have" glance but nothing like he did LOL....at the end it was just a movie I guess
@salvi1979 dude it's an act, he's pretending to be reading a bluff when he actually has the best hand. If he hadn't, La Chiffe might have folded. The purpose was to make La Chiffe think Bond hand nothing.
i love how the black guy smiles when turning over his eights full. As if there's any way in hell they'd be good after a raise, then a shove, then a call on a board with paired Aces. LOL
Most retarded poker scene ever....... I don't think were supposed to believe bond is slow rolling, instead I think the producers want us to ACTUALLY consider that bond is worried about his hand being beaten and is trying to read a bluff.... instead bond has the stone cold nuts yet he still looks at le cheifre as if he is reading a bluff.. biggest pile of crap EVER. This scene makes me cringe everytime I watch it.
Actually I think he's hollywooding here in order to get a call from le chiffre. Bond's face there looked like he was PRETENDING to read a bluff, so that would mean he wanted le chiffre to think he was making a move by reraising light, but he actually had the nuts.
Phil : Oh Shit! 5 7s are you kidding me !!!? why in fucking world you would even enter a hand with 5 7...ehhh!! this stupid mother fucker who can't even spell poker are playing high stakes....! trust me if he continues playing poker with that earned money he is gonna losses it all!!! such a horrible player ! i though he had an ace.......! he is one hell of an idiot and plays like shit!
@mannigutten no. Le chiffre had Full House and bond had a straight flush. Straight flush id stronger than full house. Go check on the internet Poker hands and you will see.
@estesoyojajaja Both of them are shown in this movie to be extraordinary poker players, Bond had a 100% winning hand and Chiffre had a 98-99% winning hand. Did they not have these kind of hands the game would've gone a very different way, this includes the steps they would've taken against eachother as the other 2 guys.
When I saw the board at 0:39, I immediately knew he had 7 5 of spades. Why do they always have to have the nuts in movies? Well, at least the villain didn't have pocket aces...
lol that fat guy didn't bet the flop with his set on that wet board in multi way pot he was about 70% favourite to win the pot and let 3 other players drawings what a bad play..
"NO HE DIDN'T! HE CALLED ME WITH 5 7! IDIOT FROM NORTHERN EUROPE! CALLED A RAISE WITH 5 7! MOTHERFUCKING GUY! FREAKING IDIOTS, GAWD THEY PLAY SO BAD!" ...ROFL!
honestly, only the black guy and Japanese guy had hands that should have really been played preflop. A6 off suit and 57 suited are both ok hands, but assuming that either of the others raised with 88 or KQ suited, there's no reason bond or lechiffre should have seen a flop
@dje91090 Any ace is a big hand 4 handed. Chances are LeChiffre raised preflop to begin with since he was in position. 57 suited is a really good hand if you play small ball. So assuming LeChriffre raised 3x the big blind, Bond calling with 57 is a perfectly legitimate scenario
Bond is so awesome! I bet no one else in the world could win big with a straight flush against two boats and the nut non-straight flush! That takes tons of skill!
I don't understand. Did he think Bond was bluffing? Is that why Le Chiffre called? And even if Bond wasn't bluffing, why would Le Chiffre call anyway?
The chinese guy had a flush, there 0,20% change of getting that, but there a change of 0,14% to get a full house, so you can say noone on that table was actually bluffing. There's a change of 0,0014% to get a straight flush. That's why Bond got all in, Le chiffre thought he was bluffin, but he knew there was about no change to have a higher set than he had. That's why Le Chiffre called.
@Opps1991 That wasn't a slow roll... the french guy is still yet to go all in.... His hesitation is a bait to make him make the call.... The last part... well, it was there for dramatic effect... lol.
This is not a great play of poker though.... How often do you see a hand where 4 is still in the hand and 3 of them had a bad beat in this manner.
What I want to know is what is Bond thinking about? Even if LeShit had Quad Aces he would still lose...there is no hand with that board where Bond could possibly lose..LOL
Bond was absolute genius in this part! Knowing that he's got the highest hand, he still managed to lure Le Chiffre to gamble it all seeing as he thought he had the highest hand! :D

lol at LeChiffre raising the river into a dry side pot.

any need to slowroll?? id be mailing a chair to his face
weatherallc05 3 months ago
I don't understand. Did he think Bond was bluffing? Is that why Le Chiffre called? And even if Bond wasn't bluffing, why would Le Chiffre call anyway?
Can someone please explain?
dancagurli 3 months ago
@dancagurli

@RoyalDutchDude Oohh, okay. Thank you so much!

@dancagurli Only A8 beats him. Hard to put someone on a straight flush. Hard to fold the way the hand played out.
lookaguru 2 months ago
@dancagurli he didn't think Bond could possibly have a higher hand, which is actually silly since it was obvious he might have a straight flush
CIarKent 2 months ago
@CIarKent or A 8. those are the two hands he can lose to. Obviously he was too caught up emotionally to let go of his hand.

how could le chiffre re-pop with only A6? A8 would beat his ass. Bond is a donkey for calling with 7-5 spades

Opps1991 3 months ago 41
@Opps1991 That wasn't a slow roll... the french guy is still yet to go all in.... His hesitation is a bait to make him make the call.... The last part... well, it was there for dramatic effect... lol.
This is not a great play of poker though.... How often do you see a hand where 4 is still in the hand and 3 of them had a bad beat in this manner.
lolipedofin 2 months ago
@Opps1991 and i bet Daniel Negraneau will be reading and telling other players hand.

wow, biggest cooler of a hand ever. and 3 slowrolls! lmao! i want to know how much bond tipped the dealer. how much was one of those red bricks?
TampaMan4 4 months ago
It would have been much cooler if Bond did stone cold bluff against the bad guy instead of making a one in a million hand.

OK I'm trying to look for casino royale, The origonal one, with Robert de Niro and that other guy who was one of the two guys in home alone.
