I love the atmospherics of "The rocky amphitheatre answers back all sound,/redoubles every sigh of wind", but better still is "Skin whose texture and whose scent/ enflames the anchoritic saint." I am reminded of the saint in the 'Lives of the Desert Fathers' who has an erotic dream, and (still in the dream) picks up a stick and urges "chastity on the wanton woman of his imaginings" - a quotation which has not left me even though it is 25 years since I last read it...
