I'm really sad I'll never be able to go to the army, unless in the near future they'll be accepting people with ulcerative colitis and coeliac, or if a cure comes out for these sicknesses.
I do have one question. All those people who join the US armed forces say its to serve their country. But I don't see the US army doing anything else then going abroad, trying to fix a mess somewhere else. How is that serving the US? and what do the US armed forces do in their own country? Is it like in the Netherlands where they also help firefighters with out of control forest fires or other problems? Just a question, just wanna know.
@EliteGhost001 national interest for a state like the US is pretty far ranging, including international treaties, combating terrorism (which is pretty far rangin in itself) etc.
There is a branch in the U.S. armed forces that helps with civilian issues inside America itself that is the National Guard.
As for the Army going abroad trying to fix a mess, it's not the Army that does that, the Army will however go help with rebuilding countries after they are hit by a natural disaster etc..
None special forces Army soldiers are there to fight 'actual' wars like the current ones in Afghanistan etc.. (This statement is regarding only the U.S. Army branch.)
That's what I like about the US army: it doesn't need all manpower to help after a natural disaster and has more then enough for aid after a disaster. The Dutch army had 70.000 men and women in service. Of which 1500 men were send to Afghanistan and they called it a "big mission''. Kinda made me wonder how ineffecient our army is. Now they're cutting the budget and 12.000 people, al our tanks and all cougar helicopters will have to go.
@EliteGhost001 alright bro i get what u mean. but understand that deployment isnt us soldier's choice to where we want to go. so dont hold it against soldiers. tats all i have to say.
And what are you basing this on? I'm very sure the United States' Army is a highly professional and competent organisation, and that's coming from an Australian.
@117piehitman Hooah. U.S. Army Rangers. One fo the toughest there is..Don't care what false advertisment or propaganda the corps or other branches say.
You say i know nothing of the military, you are sorely mistaken...from weapons to tactical gear, rank to position requirement, tactical formation, moral standing on why people join as well as myself. You don't know what it means to serve, so why don't YOU pick up the M4 and try it... better yet....what DOES it mean to serve? Can you tell me through personal enlightened experience, or you using a textbook? I am sure you cannot answer without proving me right, I guess ull just say stfu agian...
@NBGZerO you talk about death like you have never face death in a real war zone. you'll be crying to your mama when you get your pussy ass wounded in your combat tour. this propaganda videos are designed to impress young minds to commit themselves to the military industrial complex plan to propagate and prolong the illegal and immoral war of occupation in iraq and afghanistan.
@malaymercernary True. I have never experienced death on a battlefield. But if you read my comment again (which is 1 Year old btw), you will see that I'm not agreeing to any nation, military, institution, group, or action. I just agreed to the statement. And no, I'm not going to war over a 30 second video. I have other talents with which I can serve my community a lot better. Thanks for the comment, though.
You knw nothing of the man next to you...true ignorance. I WILL join the Army, and I DO know what it means to serve. You lack the knowledge to see that the individual makes the Army look bad, not the Army itself. I don't care if I die, I'd be protecting what is dear to me, and I know that i will die for it. You lack the courage to do so, so you shut the noise coming from your mouth right the hell this minute. If you lack the courage to die for it, than show the courage to respect it's fighters.
War is often just economic competition carried out by violent means by the ruling elites while the oppressed classes of different countries kill each other for the power and profits of their rulers. "States are not moral agents; they are vehicles of power, which operate in the interests of the particular internal power structures of their societies. So anybody who intervenes in another country . . . is going to be intervening for their own purposes - that's always true in history."-Noam Chomsky

@EliteGhost001 The US goes abroad to 'fix a mess somewhere else' because its in their national interest to do so for varying reasons.
No idea about the second question im not American.

I know about national interrest but they've got involved with other conflicts that would't have affect them.

You made them strong but dont cry when they die in a dirty war. A suicide bomber did kill them but they did it for their country.
Theres "Strong" and there is "Army-ehm. ehh. strong."
Die for your country and "the american way of life."
