Being British and having sung my own songs it's much easier to sing in an American accent because the t's and the harsh words kinda, smooth out better than they do in an english accent. There is far too much pronunciation, I'm not sure it's even an accent as such - it's just easier to sing like that, with kind of - no accent if that makes sense?

Surely it doesn't matter if it is easier. If you are a truly good singer then it should be easy just to sing in your normal singing voice. If you are British then you should accept the fact that you are British and represent British music by singing in your British accent.

@drfranksy It's not like that - it's more to do with the flow of the lyrics, I wouldn't say he sings in an American accent, he just drops the strong British one - have you ever heard Noel Gallagher talk? If he sang like that, would he be so famous?

It's natural to adopt a different tone of voice so that harsh sounding words can be smoothed into others, it's nothing to do with representing your Country. We speak differently to how we sing, I.e. Cheryl Cole...
