The simple fact is the bagpipes are not suited to the kind of music the irish bands want to play. I have never heard Sean South murdered that way before, Christ I think even he would think the first time a lesser crime. Thankfully we had Rising of the Moon cut short. Leave the pipes to the Scots, we have the tunes.
I heard half of the band was new to the instrument <1 year. I also heard the band is not trying to be a competition band, rather cerimonial and good times. What is it said, that it takes a piper 7 yrs.? Not too shabby for starters given the circumstances.
No I couldnt resist makin the wise crack with comment from Postie 1 opening the foor for me lik that. There were a few chanters out of tune, but the overall blend should hide that. They did vey well. Thanks for posting though, as you might guess I play myself and enjoy anything with bagpipes, no matter how good or bad. I even sound awful when I'm taped on video as I had the misfrtune of discovering last weekend. The cameras pick up everything.
a scottish and an irish flag would have gone down well at the start of this. its not really pipes and drums without them.

Haha the drum major is trying to get out of there :P (watch your spacing) . Not terrible if they've all been playing for less than a year.

Home video recorders make us pipe bands sound soooo bad. I bet they sounded good in person though.
