this isn't 'Image'.....does anybody know were abouts i can find a clip from that piece? the one based around the trouble life of Marliyn Monroe? Thanksss :)
My wife saw the live performance a couple of times when she was studying at Roehampton and 'enlightened' me when C4 screened the Houston Ballet version. I've just managed to transfer the VHS version to DVD for a couple of folk who couldn't find it to use in education. I'd love to have put it on youtube because everyone should have access to it by right!... but I'm too nervous about the
copyright issues. What a spiritually, politically & aesthetically timeless masterpiece!
I remember seeing the premier of this Ballet on British TV and it made such an impression on me, music, movement and story combine to create a perfect ballet. Everyone should watch it. It's as relevant today as it was when it was created.
This is what got me into dance having watched this years ago. There was another version later I believe from the Royal Opera House, London. I am sure I have a copy on V.H.S. somewhere.
I too have been carrying this performance with me for years. It was a defining factor in my love of dance. I saw this performance in Houston about 1988. If there is a way, any way, to gain a copy of this memory, I would love it. Please advise me. THANKS!
I was dancing with Houston Ballet when this was performed. That's Gregg Garrett and Sandra Organ dancing at the beginning and Steve Casteel as the "Village Boy" - I got to do the part of the "Village Boy" when I was dancing with Ballet West. Still one of my favorites, both to watch and to perform - Chrostopher Bruce (the choreographer) is incredible.
@sevenarts51 iv been looking for this dvd for years.Theres a problem with copyright .it was split between performers and musicians and they can not get it together to release Ghost dance .It was on youtube for a short time but got pulled All the music is on an album called CACHARPAYA by INCANTATION and if the person who first posted the ballet We dare you to do it again
I remember going to see this when it was first produced and it's stayed with me ever since. A great ballet. I often show clips to people who think ballet has no relevance today.
