Heres to Sqiurrelbait. may you drink with Bob Stinson in your dreams, hang out with tommy and GnR, and be serenaded by Westerberg at a romantic dinner
Every time I watch this show's clips it just kills me what a BABY Tommy was. Truly one of Bob at his finest, I'm so happy this show exists and that Twin/Tone has not only kept it on their site but let it exist on YouTube hassle-free.
I can't believe this show was almost 30 years ago now. Ugh.
Jeez I am just screwing up every which way with comments tonight, sorry.
Anyhow I was just going to say I still watch the clips from this gig all the time, they're just priceless, all of them. This is my favorite one though. And Tommy looks ten, LOL.
I fucking love this song and the band as a whole. The worst Replacements song is still 100,000 better than the best My Chemical Romance bullshit of today. God these guys rule!
This show was an all-timer. Just great to get quality video from that time (the real thing is amazingly clear). The Customer/Rattlensnake duo is right up there with the "I hate Music/Stuck in the Middle" selection. Nothing like the Mission of Burma aesthetic that eschews the shiteating pretense.
I remember seeing Paul in 1999 and he started playing songs by request just by people shouting them out. One guy shouted out Customer, boom plays it, I shouted out Kiss Me On The Bus, and Swinging Party and he played both. One of the coolest moments of my life.
@SquirrelBait My favorites are those two and Careless. Careless is my favorite. Everybody was yelling for Customer when I first saw them, as an encore before Hootenanny I think -- or afterward?
Wish I had been there. Bob Stinson is an underrated guitarist.

A Twin/Tone showcase shot with, apparently, the best video camera ever made up to that point in 1981 - anyone know the venue?

Customer--one of the mat's best 'sorry ma' songs.
leothebike 5 years ago 8
Yeah, "Customer" is actually one of my favorite Mats songs ever.
"Customer" and "Takin' a Ride" are the two best songs on that LP, I think.
SquirrelBait 5 years ago 2
yeah man, Stinson kicks ass in this one! Great vid, R.I.P. Stinson

by the way, I gave some dude a link to this video, and he rated it 5/10. I told him off for being such a fucking moron.

"Customer" is one of my fav. songs too. I loved that LP. Hahah "Takin a Ride" ..."the light was green and so was I..." Thanks for the these.

I sure dig the song "Rattlesnake"!
(best CD bonus track: Like You!!!!!)

Takin' a Ride was the best one IMO...off that LP anyway...and the rest of the tunes weren't far behind!
