  • Wish I had been there. Bob Stinson is an underrated guitarist.

  • Comment removed

  • Bob stinson, RIP. and i was so sad the 'mats werent in 150 best things bout mn

  • I found this vid when i saw the sugs for the Husker Du performance in the same place. Now i'm a fan of both. God Bless Minnesota.

  • Heres to Sqiurrelbait. may you drink with Bob Stinson in your dreams, hang out with tommy and GnR, and be serenaded by Westerberg at a romantic dinner

  • I love these guys! Stoked I found your channel....Squirrel Bait is awesome too ;D Can't wait to watch 'em all!

  • Is this show on an album?

  • There would be no Refused, Nofx, or Agnostic Front without this. Likes.

  • Fuckin' Awesome ....Just.....fuck yes! !!!!!

  • I wonder if the crowd knew at the time they were witnessing epic greatness?

  • They sound nearly like "The Hives!"´´.....

  • The real gem of this record is "Johnny's Gonna Die" Nothing else comes close imo. Let it Be was when they became the best unknown band in the world.

  • @cupcakestopper: It's a month before his 16th birthday. Now he's in Guns N' Roses. So sad.

  • I'm honored to say my dad was a roadie for these guys, I never go a day without a daily dose of The Place Mats.

  • jesus, tommy stinson is what, 15 here? way to live.

  • @cupcaketopper Yeah, talk about having it made. He's been playing music his entire life. Lucky kiddo

  • westerberg said it best. "MTV fucking sucks!!!!"

    Or

" I think I'll just wander around and beat up guitar techs!"

  • Sloppy, out of tune and totally f'n great!

  • Every time I watch this show's clips it just kills me what a BABY Tommy was. Truly one of Bob at his finest, I'm so happy this show exists and that Twin/Tone has not only kept it on their site but let it exist on YouTube hassle-free.

I can't believe this show was almost 30 years ago now. Ugh.

  • Bob fucking killing it!

  • awesome.

  • this is what punk should sound like

  • Tape's rolling...

  • now THIS is rock 'n' roll!

  • Surely two of the best count-ins in rock. Only Dee Dee Ramone could match that.

  • LOL @ tommy

  • The 'Mats will always be the most important band from Minneapolis. Forever.

  • Ill say THE WORLD!

  • Bob!! Fuckin Bob!!! Ahh!

  • This is...I'm speechless...soooogood.

  • Jeez I am just screwing up every which way with comments tonight, sorry.

Anyhow I was just going to say I still watch the clips from this gig all the time, they're just priceless, all of them. This is my favorite one though. And Tommy looks ten, LOL.

  • clevelandsmells: These were all shot at the 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis.

  • where are the twinkies?

  • perfect performance by one of the greatest rock 'n' roll bands of all time.

  • FUCK!

  • where did these come from ?????

  • A Twin/Tone showcase shot with, apparently, the best video camera ever made up to that point in 1981 - anyone know the venue?

  • Whoops I should have replied here instead - 7th St Entry, Minneapolis.

  • I can't believe how great this is.

  • I love how out of tune Paul's guitar is the whole first part of this... That's why he stopped playing, I'm sure..

  • Wow.

    RIP Bob.

  • Bob Stinson rules!

  • I fucking love this song and the band as a whole. The worst Replacements song is still 100,000 better than the best My Chemical Romance bullshit of today. God these guys rule!

  • "O.K. I'm in love with a girl who works at the grocery store but I'm nothin' but a customer"

  • This show was an all-timer. Just great to get quality video from that time (the real thing is amazingly clear). The Customer/Rattlensnake duo is right up there with the "I hate Music/Stuck in the Middle" selection. Nothing like the Mission of Burma aesthetic that eschews the shiteating pretense.

  • rad.

  • OLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

  • The Mats are and will always be the greatest band in any genre.

They really meant it, fuck everybody else.

  • THE MATS RULE! ALL OTHERS SUCK BALLS.

  • steely dan gargles my balls

  • that was punk. not this bullshit watered down emo shit or this double kick confused punk metal shit. this is punk.

  • Fuck yeah!

  • I'll take a TwinkiE! Christ, I mustve run over 35 red lights while listening to this and "takin a ride" song..

  • hahahaaa...

    this band rocked

    i love them.

    =D

  • I remember seeing Paul in 1999 and he started playing songs by request just by people shouting them out. One guy shouted out Customer, boom plays it, I shouted out Kiss Me On The Bus, and Swinging Party and he played both. One of the coolest moments of my life.

  • Customer--one of the mat's best 'sorry ma' songs.

  • Yeah, "Customer" is actually one of my favorite Mats songs ever.

"Customer" and "Takin' a Ride" are the two best songs on that LP, I think.

  • yeah man, Stinson kicks ass in this one! Great vid, R.I.P. Stinson

  • by the way, I gave some dude a link to this video, and he rated it 5/10. I told him off for being such a fucking moron.

  • "Customer" is one of my fav. songs too. I loved that LP. Hahah "Takin a Ride" ..."the light was green and so was I..." Thanks for the these.

  • @SquirrelBait My favorites are those two and Careless. Careless is my favorite. Everybody was yelling for Customer when I first saw them, as an encore before Hootenanny I think -- or afterward?

I sure dig the song "Rattlesnake"!

(best CD bonus track: Like You!!!!!)

  • @SquirrelBait

Takin' a Ride was the best one IMO...off that LP anyway...and the rest of the tunes weren't far behind!
