Wolf spiders actually do eat the whole bug. Its uncommon for spiders to not just suck the blood but I had a wolf spider for a while and I watched him slowly eat insects until he had swallowed them
@naughtykrachead Pedipalps are the parts on the front of the spider that look like feelers or pinchers - right in front of the fangs. Males sometimes have big ones they use for show.
@TheBastard97 I agree and they should be respected more. It's sad that so many people don't like them. Probably because people judge on how they look rather than what they do. They shouldn't be judged they way for what helpful animals they are.
i live in indiana and caught i spider today i believe it is a wolf spider it is pretty good size for a spider around here but the design on his back isnt like the thing most people say so can some help me identify it? i would try with its eyes but cant get a good look.
@4HLancasterNE yea the ones ive seen around my place in california get to the size of your hand pretty much well an everage persons hand. i have big hands
my mom always called these spider she said were wolf spiders but the color was wrong, they had a grey /black body and red legs..I looked it up and found that it was a mouse spider, wolf spiders look entrirely different with pretty grey markings. I don't kill spiders when I see them now but to capture and contain them and transport them outside.
The reason you cannot find the finished meal of the wolf spider is because, like other spiders with very powerful jaws, it reduces its prey to a tiny, almost colorless, bolas of indigestible materials. When finished, lycosa's prey is indistinguishable.
it's looking into your soul... nom nom nom

Brilliant video. Spider really are good animals and without them insects would rule the world and there's no reason to be afraid of them.

how many inches does wolf spider grow??
kudaidude 2 years ago
There are different types of wolf spiders. In Nebraska, wolf spiders often have bodies between 1"-2" long. With their legs, they look much bigger.
