The Finns were not enthusiastic about the cooperation, but what would have been the alternative?. A Russian Finnish cooperation was impossible after the winter war. And the Soviets planned a new aggression against Finland. If Finland would have stayed neutral, there would have been probably hostile troops from Soviet Union as well as Germany on their soil and Finland would have become a battle field. The Finnish army was not strong enought to keep the the two big armies out of the country.
Nazi Germans asked the Finns to cut of Leningrad from the East. But they refused to do so. Therefore the Soviets had an access to Leningrad across the lake Ladoga and where they could transport some supplies to the city.

Britain did start WWII. Germany was trying to deal with a legitimate border dispute with another Eastern European dictatorship (one that was just as expansionist as Nazi Germany and plenty genocidal as well). Revenge for what? The brits were the ones who STARTED the terror bombing campaign against the Germans, not the other way around. The Germans were sticking with legit. military targets in Britain until the Brits started terror bombing Berlin. The Germans finally retaliated after putting up with it for a bit, and this was used as justification to turn German cities into ash-heaps.

Actually people from places like Coventry and London were most inclined to question the morality of the RAF bombing campaign. They did not want their air crews to do the same what Luftwaffe had done to them. The most belligerent attitudes were from regions hit with no single bomb. That is what Vera Brittain writes in her "Massacre by Bombing" from 1944.

The balance of power during winter war had been:

The Finns were not enthusiastic about the cooperation, but what would have been the alternative?. A Russian Finnish cooperation was impossible after the winter war. And the Soviets planned a new aggression against Finland. If Finland would have stayed neutral, there would have been probably hostile troops from Soviet Union as well as Germany on their soil and Finland would have become a battle field. The Finnish army was not strong enought to keep the the two big armies out of the country.

But they allowed him violations of the Versailles treaty they never would have conceded to the democratic politicians of the Weimar Republic. Until now I thought that they did not take "Mein Kampf" and Hitler serious and just wanted to preserve peace as long as possible.

UK supplied arms to Finland when Britain and the Commonwealth stood alone against Nazi aggression. Due to Britain's policy of peace it had neglected its armed forces and was woefully under armed. Despite this it gave Finland much needed Aircraft so that Finland could defend itself against Soviet Union. Britain and the commonwealth stood up to and refused a peace treaty from Hitler. Bomber Command channels tend to attract people who are opposed to war crimes and atrocities, not Nazis. Same way as holocaust or slavery videos do. Except, the Holocaust/slavery videos usually aren't PRAISING the action, whereas these are, so you get a stronger reaction.

Britain did start WWII. Germany was trying to deal with a legitimate border dispute with another Eastern European dictatorship (one that was just as expansionist as Nazi Germany and plenty genocidal as well). The conflict did not involve Britain at all. Britain just picked the fight because they didn't want Germany growing too powerful for their own selfish reasons.
Germany tried to make peace with Britain several times, but they wouldn't hear of it. Britain and france started WWII.

I think you are misunderstanding the poinyancy of this song. It was popular during WW2 with British & Commonweatlth servicemen and women having to go away from loved ones and do their duty. The happy mood of the song is ironic and hides the great sadness of the time as many never returned, But gave their lives so that countries such as Denmark would be rid of Nazi tyranny. It is a shame you choose to equate it with Nazi death camps.

They didn't give a fuck about Denmark or any other country and you know it. All they cared about was Britain itself winning the war. The other countries were merely useful propaganda tools to make Britain's fight seem more legitimate, and freeing them was a side effect of Britain's campaign against Germany. In fact, most of them wouldn't have even come under Nazi attack if it weren't for Britain picking a fight with Germany over a legitimate border dispute they had with Poland.

Revenge for what? The brits were the ones who STARTED the terror bombing campaign against the Germans, not the other way around. The Germans were sticking with legit. military targets in Britain until the Brits started terror bombing Berlin. The Germans finally retaliated after putting up with it for a bit, and this was used as justification to turn German cities into ash-heaps.

As much as I agree with you on many points, Swanny, this is not completely true. Actually people from places like Coventry and London were most inclined to question the morality of the RAF bombing campaign. They did not want their air crews to do the same what Luftwaffe had done to them. The most belligerent attitudes were from regions hit with no single bomb. That is what Vera Brittain writes in her "Massacre by Bombing" from 1944.

While you take your own decisions and also your own responsibility of this video, keep in mind that it lives like a text. That means, that there are as many interpretations as there are spectators(/ 'readers').
For a patriotic Brit this is a kind of eulogy, but for anybody who has any idea what happens on the ground the content of the video changes.

The first song is a war time song created for this scenario wishing them luck as they go to war so I see nothing wrong in that one, the second piece of music is the dam busters theme which is always associated with Lancaster's in Britain and that's why I used it but looking back on it I probably should have used something a bit more solemn.

There was also some abuse in there. I don't mind people taking an opposing view, one of the ideas behind making these videos is to stimulate debate about military history but I have found and I don't just mean on this video that some people turn in to school children and its just personal abuse. But what the highest leadership told them to do, is much less respectable (650000 civilians killed, 800000 maimed and 2 million died afterwards).
