I don't understand the negative comments all over this page. Here is a man who said waterboarding was't torture for YEARS. Someone told him to put his money where his mouth is, and afterwards, he declared unequivocally that it was torture.
It is torture. You do not get meaningful information from it. All you do is tarnish what reputation we have left, and create more people who (justifiably) hate us!
dude thats crazy, could last 3 seconds, kalheed mohammed had it done like over a 100 times or something or am i wrong? I know they used the method 2 or 3 times but they did a lot of sessions on mohammed, still not sure how i feel about this, on the one hand this appears like torture, on the other, these were bad dudes and its hard for me to feel sorry for kalheed
@packerfan748 Nobody's asking you to feel sorry for a terrorist. We're asking the United States of America to not engage in torture. BTW...KSM was tied down to the table. He couldn't get up like Mancow did.
Conservatives don't support raising minimum wage, let them live on minimum wage and u'll find bitching about finding bugs in their beds. Conservatives don't support free healthcare, let them break a leg and see how it feels to not receive adequate care. Conservatives don't support abortion, let them raise kids while being on minimum wage and they'll die. Conservatives support torture, let them get tortured and they'll shit themselves.
two of your arguments don't make any sense.. If you don't like working for minimum wage you need to work hard and gain the skills necessary to make more money. conservatives are not against free healthcare they just want to know how we're going to pay for it and whether or not government should run it. have you seen our debt? no family could survive spending so much it didn't have why can the federal government?
@asphyxiafeeling The problem is that if the government would cut military spending, actually tax corporations and the wealthy comparably to the rates it did before Reagan was elected, and closed tax loopholes for large corporations, we could easily pay for a single-payer health system while having a budget with a surplus.
They did not even do it right. Suppose to cover the entire face. The cloth will keep the water there which is how it gives you the feeling of drowning. Mancow is a pussy
That isn't how it's done, the cloth covers the face ENTIRELY! The cloth will smother the victim. I truly respect Muller for going through with this, I disagree with nearly everything he says, but he had something nearly as bad as water boarding done to him. But no, the cloth covers the entire face.
Let me tell you idiots something! Why in the fuck are we the USA meddling into these idiots affairs in the middle east anyway?? You republicans are a huge issue!
what are you like 5 yrs old? our military are water boarded during their training fool ! but they are real men ! go away little boy! go hide behind your mommas skirt..
Do you want the United States to join the ranks of Nazi Germany or Stalinist Russia? By the way, waterboarding actually pales in comparison to some of the things that were being done to these "terrorists" (many of whom were just in the wrong place at the wrong time and picked up by bounty hunters - i.e. INNOCENT). This cannot be excused. This is not "liberal" or "conservative" it is wrong and profoundly antiamerican, antihuman, and profoundly wrong.
Great. The fact that no one dies makes it okay. The ends justify the means to these sick people. You know what would "work"? Maybe we can rape these people's wives (that weren't actually charged with a crime in the first place or have been proven to be "terrorists) in front of them. It works, right? If it "works" then it must be "o.k.". Maybe we'll threaten to execute their children (and carry it out) in front of them. "We" are the "good guys" afterall, right? That's why we torture.
Cutting off peoples' heads is torture. Killing tens of thousands of babies in the 6 7 and 8th and 9th month of pregnancy is torture. Get it right! NUTS!
Umm. no, cutting peoples heads of is murder, and killing tens of thousands of babies in the 6-9th month of pregnancy is erm.. well, murder according to most countries, though, possibly torture to the mothers.. or onlookers.
but then again, thats not the point your making is it. You'd rather we did it the american way, and let them die 6-9 months after birth
cutting heads off people is straight up murder, what is the fatality rate in those who have been water boarded O %, abortion and partial birth abortion 100%, be-headings 100%, mancow has lost my respect I guarantee ya, I would rather be water boarded any day..
That was exactly his thinking before he tried it. You think you're tougher than a torture technique that has been breaking people for thousands of years (the chinese perfected it). its not about "having balls" its about having a human reaction to drowning. Think before you type
would you rather we just start beheading then, and get past this violent act of water boarding ?? or maybe we could all hug and make up! are you willing to do anything to save your loved one ?
Listen up chop! If you are so damn conservative like you claim, you will believe in Gods word when he said those who take to the sword shall perish by the sword!
Why would any Intelligent person debate an uninformed, brain washed sheep like you? Aren't you late for one of your rallies? have you Ironed all the code pink skirts? bugger off!
Let me ask you this, Tallest, Do you still have the right to free speech? Do you still have the right to vote? Do still have the right to do whatever you want? Where you want to go and who you want to be. Excessive force? You bet, the more firepower the better. If i can call in an airstrike to level any of those bastards hideouts or base camps..I'll have them throw everything they got and then some.
are you really that ignorant and stupid to think that Mancow would ever again argue that waterboarding is appropriate? he just had one of the worst experiences of his life and now he knows the simple truth: Waterboarding is a cruel torture method. That is not debatable
Humm....so waterboarding is torture. I wonder what the people in the twin towers would have considered torture as they were burned to death, or jumped to death, or were crushed to death simply because they went to work on one specific day. Waterboarding is nothing compared to what they went through.
@nmnitenurse - We do not base our laws and principles on what depraved depths terrorists will sink to. By doing that you not only dishonor those who died on 9/11, you also let the terrorists win by destroying what this country stands for.
ask Bush, the Israelies, and all those who helped make 9-11 happen. You don't really still believe that 19 people from a cave w a box knife did it do you? 9-11 was an inside job
What happened to those men and women on that horrible day was most definitely one of the worst things to happen to our nation. BUT We are not terrorists. We boast about what a great nation we are, we claim to be the best nation in the world. How can we call our selves that when we are going to do things that are no better then what those monsters did to us? We either risk dying to maintain our honor, or we assure our survival by throwing our honor aside.
No we arent terrorists.but then our country has had moments in history in which we should be ashamed of..Yet we are still a young country compared to Europe and asia
If people hate us so much. then why is it that they always want to come here and settle down? why is it that the world calls upon us to help? Why are we asked to become the peacekeepers or to help feed the world?
The US has no obligation to subject itself to foreign laws. The US only has its own Constitution to abide by, which does not apply to terrorists who are not citizens and are not lawful enemy combatants.
That being said, we should be morally superior, and beyond the use of torture.
We are signatories of the Geneva Conventions. If we don't want to abide by it, then it is our right and we should say so openly. However it is hypocritical to ask other nations to abide by International rules and ignore it ourselves.
Even under Geneva there is question as to whether it applies to terrorists, in that sense it is also up for the US to interpret the document if it is unclear.
Sure, we can interpret it any way we want. We pull people from the street, label them as enemy combatants without a trial or proof and then torture them. Is that the country that America stands for?
That wouldn't hold up in any American court of law. There are guidelines which denote certain behavior, but at the end of the day the US should care about the safety of its citizens and the protection of its own laws.
Even under international law there is questionable protection for terrorists.
In any case, we are already better than the terrorists in many ways.
As I stated before, just because we can do something legally doesn't mean we should. But I assert that we CAN do it.
I find it confusing how so many people cannot realize that the protection of American lives is the priority of the government. Without survival, there is not honor.
thats reasonable. I'm just saying that if you want to put survival infront of honor then you have no right to call your nation the greatest in the world.
When it starts to be about survival, in many cases the luxury of honor goes away. Its impressive that the past administration had not gone as far in curtailing civil rights as it could have or other presidents did in the past.
But when it comes to survival, sometimes the best way is to be pragmatic.
Right, I'm agreeing with you. lol. Do you see where I'm getting at though? What makes us great is our morals and ideals. If we are throwing them out the window to keep us alive, then there is nothing that makes us "Great".
I have nothing to be ashamed of. I swore to uphold and defend the constitiution and the republic from all enemies foreign and domestic. I'm one of many who has to go out and find those individuals and bring them to justice. Believe me friend, I havent a damn thing to be ashamed of. You as a individual made a choice to vote..have you looked at your self and are you ashamed?
Ok, but what I am trying to say is, if we are no more honorable then the terrorists (and as long as we are torturing, then we aren't any more honorable), then we cant say we are the greatest nation in the world, and we cant say our justice is better then their justice. We may be stronger then them, but if we don't have higher standards, then we are just bullies. And THAT is how the rest of the world sees us.
Hey Paladin1441, are buddies with Eric Prince? Are you one of those mercenaries that vowed the exterminate the Muslim fate? (on the record), because you have a crusader name as your screen name or, you are just a wanabee?
Do you have any idea what kind of trash the crusaders where? A bunch of closet homosexuals that helped destroy the very thing they where supposed to protect, Constantinople. FYI the only view they had of the the holy land it was between the arrow slits of the castles they took.
I never said people hate us. I never said anything like that at all. You still wont answer my question though. Hell I am willing to admit that I may be wrong, that it is silly idealism to think that honor is more important then life it self. I am willing to admit that it may be better to live in dishonor then to die with honor. But you are trying to say that we can have both WHEN WE CANT! If we want to call ourselves the greatest nation in the world, we need to put our honor before our safety.
After the Spanish American War of 1898 in the Philippines, the US Army used waterboarding which was called the "water cure" at the time. Reports of "cruelties" from soldiers stationed in the Philippines led to Senate Hearings on US activity in the Philippines.
Testimony described the waterboarding of Tobeniano Ealdama "while supervised by Captain/Major Edwin F. Glenn (Glenn Highway
Thar rag in the mouth, zacata, doesnt it allow water to steadily enter the throat of the subject? To force the subjects mouth open [ the subject is otherwise fully restrained] in a way that prevents him from stopping the steady flow of water into his lungs? Waterboarding is an entirely useless technique UNLESS it promotes, in the subject, a sense of unstoppable drowning and immanent death. BTW, W's lawyers didnt invent it, the Japanese used it vs US GI's in WWII.
Paladin, you talk about "Justice", but let me ask you - what is just about locking people up in an offshore prison and giving them no rights and no trial? Justice is bringing them into a court and giving them a trial. THAT'S the American way. By denying these people their basic GOD GIVEN RIGHTS we are no better than those we seek to punish. And also, you pity atheists? I pity the person who preaches with one hand and strips god given rights away with the other. How un-American and un-Christ like
Those people are enemy insurgeants, which makes them combatants and therefore not subjected to civil law. They have no rights as soldiers whatsoever. Read the Geneva convention and tell me what article refers to them. And technically Gitmo IS U.S. soil. And what rights should these individuals have, when they committed acts of terror against us?
Are you an idiot? Most of those people in Gitmo were never charged with anything and were there simply because we were paying a bounty to bring people in.
No. We didnt pay a bounty at all. I know that for a fact. And you're refering to when afghans would simply accuse someone and the assumption that we took them into custody. Now i am going to enlighten you. Most of those people in Gitmo were ARABS captured in Afghanistan. Egyptians, Yemeni's Syrians, Saudi's, as well as Africans, and a couple of British citizens an Australian and one American. Some are Taliban also.
Of course there was a bounty. You don't know jack sh!t. There were 750 prisoners. They were from all over - Uyghur, Sudan, Russia, etc. Bounty ranged from 3k-25k.
Some were under 17, a few were over 60, some were never in Afghanistan, some because they wore a Casio watch! One, who was a Masters in English was arrested because he wrote a satirical article lampooning both American as well as Taliban!
Okay now i am going to ask you this, Have you been in Afghanistan? Have you ever fought Al Qaeda or Taliban? Have you ever captured or do you have the valid proof of this? Show me the proof, I doubt if you ever been out of the U.S.
again, boasting about how you fight for our country, I have no respect for you. I thank you for what you do for our country but it only goes that far.
You just don't get it, Paladin. The one thing these people want more than anything else is to have American troops/govt. officials freak out and use extreme force. When we commit these atrocious acts they use it to throw it back in our faces and strengthen their base. What is so hard to understand about this? We always hear that they "hate our freedom", and since 9/11 we have had some of our rights taken away from us and we have lowered our moral standards. How is that not a victory for them?
You believe they "hate our freedom" because thats what George Bush told you? they hate us because our culture is infringing on theirs and it is smothering their customs and religion. To think that they are just evil without a reason is ignorant. everything has a motive. And by the way...the point of argument is wether waterboarding is torture or not, because we said we werent using torture. Clearly from this video waterboarding is torture...
I believe they hate our freedoms because they have told us so through their actions and words. GWB only responded to them. Don't hate a man who fought against them.
Show me any single quote you could possibly have from a terrorist saying "we hate America's freedoms". you've been fed a line from GW and never bothered to fact check. Don't come at me with that BS before you do your research
schwaful, I never claimed these people are evil without a reason, and I also said that we "hear that they 'hate our freedom' ", I never said I agreed with that statement. In fact I was trying to discredit that argument, but apparently you failed to see that. Please learn to read critically. You're also talking to someone who absolutely hated the Bush admin. Please don't put words in my mouth. I've also been arguing the entire time that this is in fact torture. Please read my past statements.
Not talking to you...the 'hate our freedoms' comment was in response to Omeca, who seems to actually believe that. You should probably learn to read critically yourself before you blow up at me. Looking back at your comments, I agree with you and see you as a reasonable person. Good looks
The whole torture "debate" is nothing more then a 'DISTRACTION' from an honest debate about why are we at war in iraq, afaganistan, gaza, pakistan, just to name a few. Please dont tell me about the "terrorist threat", as you may as well use "weapons of mass destruction' as an arguement.
The thing that makes me mad the most is that all this torture stuff would not happen if Muslims and Catholics understand that our God and their God are the same people. Overall, I am just trying to say that the role of the gov't, not church, is to protect the welfare of the citizens and if you are displeased of which the govt is doing, then feel free to leave. Nowhere is like America. Go try and live in Iraq. God bless the troops such as Paladin. The purpose of all war is peace.
dont you dare pity us. Who the hell do you think you are? You only pity those who you think are worse off then you. Do you honestly think you are better then Atheists? Your savior would be disgusted.
Yeah torture is wrong, but its a necessary evil. Those bastards murdered innocent people and the only way to deal with them is to merely assist them in becoming martyrs for their cause. You can raise all the hell you want, you can yell til you're blue in the face, But guess what? It's been done. We got the information. Sorry bout that.
"Yeah torture is wrong, but its a necessary evil."
We consider our nation to be the best in the world. We say this while pointing to our values and moral code. But if we violate those for the security of the nation.....what exactly are we securing? Thats a real question. Please answer this one.
We're safegaurding our borders and doing whatever it takes to prevent another 9/11 from ever happening again. That's why. They murdered and brought terror to the United States and they committed an act of war..They were the ones who started it..We're going to be the ones who will finish it..No matter what it takes, No matter how long it takes..They WILL face justice..When its over. we can debate all we want about it. it wont bring back the dead. but it will prevent another attack from happening.
what is justice though? We consider what we are doing justice, but we are stooping to their levels to bring it to them. If what we are doing is no better then what they are doing, does that make what they are doing justice as well? Its not worth protecting the nation if you are sacrificing everything the nation stands for to protect it.
Justice is to bring those who attacked us to answer for what they did. those who planned, those who financed and thosed who committed acts against us. Al Qaeda declared war on us in 1996 that stated that ALL Americans are targets...ALL americans
Which means that if they have the oppurtunity. they will kill you Period. They've beheaded and murdered American citizens and waterboarding is nothing compared to what those people have done to us..by the way miss. I was being sarcastic toward Athiest. I dont care what faith you are,.
You really think that by lowering our moral standards and torturing people we are becoming a safer nation? If anything that lowers us to their level, and opens the doors for future American troops and civilians to be tortured. Not to mention, if you were being tortured, wouldn't you say ANYTHING to make it stop? Also, it has yet to be proven -even once- that these tactics prevented any kind of attack. So before you go and regurgitate more Cheney bs sit down and think critically for once.
Okay. I am going to put you thru a situation. Say two of your soldiers were on a checkpoint in Iraq. and insurgeants kidnapped them, then say a couple of weeks after searching for them, you find what is left of them..enviscerated and butchered! How would you like to explain to their parents what happened to them? How are you going to tell and restrain young soldiers from going out and leveling the neighborhood where they found them? I think Midget, i think of my soldiers who were killed by them.
You fail to realize one thing miss. Soldiers DO think. And why dont you read Kipling's Tommy. Bushido and chivalry are good reminders and the soldiers code as well. However we arent fighting soldiers but terrorists. Honor? Everyday I try to live up to the honor of my uniform, Everyday I try to do right by it. But I am not fighting soldiers..me and my friends are fighting terrorists..
Okay i'll answer it..People live with both every day..Soldiers most of all. We do whatever it takes to safegaurd this country and you. Its been done since time began..It's part of the human race.
Their opinions don't speak the truth, it speaks only for their opinions. I'm not going to base my morals on two men. In my books, if it was believed American lives could be saved using alternative methods of interogation, I'm for it. Which it did considering it revealed information on the Liberty Tower plot.
And I don't dislike Obama because of his policies on Interogation, I dislike him for all of his policies.
I would like to see Cheney's daughter volunteer to be waterboarded. Not that it would ever happen. What the hell makes her an authority on waterboarding?
It would be nice to know if this was administered the same way it was done by the interrogators on the prisoners.
Mental torture? Maybe so, but nothing like what has been done against our troops. They endure REAL torture when captured, then they seem to die and get their head chopped off & dragged around.
they just want to take away are weapons to defeat teh terrarists ! how can we win against them if they stop us from spray a little bit water??? i bet they paid this guy for to say that it is torture. it no big deal
Wow...people are crying for Terrorist having a little water poured on their faces-- cause the media is all of a sudden crying out-- ITS WRONG--ITS HORRIBLE! and we like sheeps follow as we been conditioned to...Right?
What about ABORTION?
INNOCENT babies are literally torn apart in their mother's womb--and then toss in dumpsters to be fed upon by alley Rats.
Yes, the same jesus loving freaks that call themselves "a culture of life" and oppose abortion, totally support torture, the death penalty, and endless war. Talk about hypocrisy!
They try to focus the GITMO issue to only water boarding when the truth is that much worse things happened to detainees...
The real issue we should be debating is how U.S.Soldiers and Contractors sodomized Muslim men and boys, raped young 15-18 year old Muslim girls, and brutally murdered over 100 detainees.
Go read the article and see the shocking videos for yourself at the site:
I would like to see these morons on the video been really arrested in the mid of the night and throw on a prison without know if he would be survive or not.
Probably in the future these windheads will claim that WWII concentration camps were not so bad after all...
also... what ever happened to innocent until proven guilty in this country? How can we label all of the 200 and something prisoners as "terrorists" when we keep refusing to put them through the courts???
Listen up. Khalid Shiek Mohammad was one of the master minds of 9/11 you do recall that incident do you? 183 times? That is nowhere near enough to the 3,016 victims that bastard and the rest of those cowards did that day! Frankly we were being to easy on him and the rest of those cowards. WAKE up people..This man wouldnt hesitate to kill you in a minute!
"Listen up. Khalid Shiek Mohammad was one of the master minds of 9/11 you do recall that incident do you? 183 times? Yes, and 9/11 justifies everything. 9/11 9/11 9/11! That's all you have to say to justify torture, to death in some cases!
"That's right, and look what happened. NO further attacks have occured in this country, would you like another one so you can be more at ease!?"
The fact that you are scared to death of terrorist bogeymen does not justify torture and human rights violations. You likely live in some small hick town in the bible belt that would never be a target anyway.
The irrational fear of frightened little wimps like you cowering in the corner does not justify torture.
Waterboarding is torture but of the Japanese war crimes water torture was a picnic in the park. Japanese did a lot of horrible stuff including performing vivasections on pregnant women, infecting civilians with disease to create bio weapons which they actually floated into US in hopes of creating a plague in US.
Excuse me Atheist but i happen to be one of those who are risking my life so you can enjoy the freedom of speech me and others like you can enjoy..and frankly i'm doing a good job of it since you're running off with the mouth. And by the way I have five tours in combat, Aghanistan and Iraq and i faced them while you were sitting at your keyboard talking crap so get out of my face!
"Excuse me Atheist but i happen to be one of those who are risking my life so you can enjoy the freedom of speech me and others like you can enjoy..and frankly i'm doing a good job of it since you're running off with the mouth. So you are a soldier and you think torture is good? Are you one of those Blackwater assholes? I hope you are run out of the military ASAP!
oh and btw. I honor the troops every damn day. Dont you think otherwise. But the troops that deserve respect are the ones who dont expect recognition. If you want to fight for our nation, then thank you sir, but if you want to fight for glory, then go fuck your self.
I dont fight for glory...I fight for the people who are with me out there..I dont ask for honors not do i want them..I only want to safegaurd this country..My arguement sir was with Athiest future. Not with you.
It became my argument when you stated that you pitted the atheist for not believing in a god. And as for fighting for our country and not for honor. If that were true you wouldn't have had to bring it up in the first place.
He did it for like 3 seconds lol imagine getting that done for hours.

Indhegoh 2 years ago

WolfRester 2 years ago
No we arent terrorists.but then our country has had moments in history in which we should be ashamed of..Yet we are still a young country compared to Europe and asia
If people hate us so much. then why is it that they always want to come here and settle down? why is it that the world calls upon us to help? Why are we asked to become the peacekeepers or to help feed the world?
Paladin1441 2 years ago
So why aren't you ashamed of the past 8 years in which the US broke both it's own laws as well as globally accepted laws (i.e. Geneva Conventions)?
saadasim 2 years ago
The US has no obligation to subject itself to foreign laws. The US only has its own Constitution to abide by, which does not apply to terrorists who are not citizens and are not lawful enemy combatants.
That being said, we should be morally superior, and beyond the use of torture.
Albyiscool 2 years ago
We are signatories of the Geneva Conventions. If we don't want to abide by it, then it is our right and we should say so openly. However it is hypocritical to ask other nations to abide by International rules and ignore it ourselves.
saadasim 2 years ago
Even under Geneva there is question as to whether it applies to terrorists, in that sense it is also up for the US to interpret the document if it is unclear.
What situations are you referring to.
Albyiscool 2 years ago
Sure, we can interpret it any way we want. We pull people from the street, label them as enemy combatants without a trial or proof and then torture them. Is that the country that America stands for?
saadasim 2 years ago
I don't see any evidence that America has done anything of the sort, nor is there anything to be gained from such action.
Albyiscool 2 years ago
but we DO have to abide by GLOBAL laws. If we refuse to obey them, then we are no better then the terrorists in the first place.
WolfRester 2 years ago
That wouldn't hold up in any American court of law. There are guidelines which denote certain behavior, but at the end of the day the US should care about the safety of its citizens and the protection of its own laws.
Even under international law there is questionable protection for terrorists.
In any case, we are already better than the terrorists in many ways.
Albyiscool 2 years ago
"at the end of the day the US should care about the safety of its citizens and the protection of its own laws"
So you are on the side of survival over honor? I am not saying your choice is wrong, I am just seeing where your ideals stand.
WolfRester 2 years ago
As I stated before, just because we can do something legally doesn't mean we should. But I assert that we CAN do it.
I find it confusing how so many people cannot realize that the protection of American lives is the priority of the government. Without survival, there is not honor.
Albyiscool 2 years ago
thats reasonable. I'm just saying that if you want to put survival infront of honor then you have no right to call your nation the greatest in the world.
WolfRester 2 years ago
When it starts to be about survival, in many cases the luxury of honor goes away. Its impressive that the past administration had not gone as far in curtailing civil rights as it could have or other presidents did in the past.
But when it comes to survival, sometimes the best way is to be pragmatic.
Albyiscool 2 years ago
Right, I'm agreeing with you. lol. Do you see where I'm getting at though? What makes us great is our morals and ideals. If we are throwing them out the window to keep us alive, then there is nothing that makes us "Great".
WolfRester 2 years ago
Miss let me ask you this, When has ANY nation abided with a global law unless it suits their own intrests?
Paladin1441 2 years ago
I have nothing to be ashamed of. I swore to uphold and defend the constitiution and the republic from all enemies foreign and domestic. I'm one of many who has to go out and find those individuals and bring them to justice. Believe me friend, I havent a damn thing to be ashamed of. You as a individual made a choice to vote..have you looked at your self and are you ashamed?
Paladin1441 2 years ago
You just said that "our country has had moments in history in which we should be ashamed of." Which moments are you talking about and why?
As for me, I am ashamed that I voted for Bush the first time, misjudging his character and his intellect,
saadasim 2 years ago
Ok, but what I am trying to say is, if we are no more honorable then the terrorists (and as long as we are torturing, then we aren't any more honorable), then we cant say we are the greatest nation in the world, and we cant say our justice is better then their justice. We may be stronger then them, but if we don't have higher standards, then we are just bullies. And THAT is how the rest of the world sees us.
WolfRester 2 years ago 2
Hey Paladin1441, are buddies with Eric Prince? Are you one of those mercenaries that vowed the exterminate the Muslim fate? (on the record), because you have a crusader name as your screen name or, you are just a wanabee?

pmnichols10 2 years ago
I never said people hate us. I never said anything like that at all. You still wont answer my question though. Hell I am willing to admit that I may be wrong, that it is silly idealism to think that honor is more important then life it self. I am willing to admit that it may be better to live in dishonor then to die with honor. But you are trying to say that we can have both WHEN WE CANT! If we want to call ourselves the greatest nation in the world, we need to put our honor before our safety.
WolfRester 2 years ago

How un-American and un-Christ like
tallestmidgetEVER 2 years ago
Those people are enemy insurgeants, which makes them combatants and therefore not subjected to civil law. They have no rights as soldiers whatsoever. Read the Geneva convention and tell me what article refers to them. And technically Gitmo IS U.S. soil. And what rights should these individuals have, when they committed acts of terror against us?
Paladin1441 2 years ago
Are you an idiot? Most of those people in Gitmo were never charged with anything and were there simply because we were paying a bounty to bring people in.
saadasim 2 years ago
Paladin1441 2 years ago
Of course there was a bounty. You don't know jack sh!t. There were 750 prisoners. They were from all over - Uyghur, Sudan, Russia, etc. Bounty ranged from 3k-25k.
Some were under 17, a few were over 60, some were never in Afghanistan, some because they wore a Casio watch! One, who was a Masters in English was arrested because he wrote a satirical article lampooning both American as well as Taliban!
saadasim 2 years ago

You just don't get it, Paladin. The one thing these people want more than anything else is to have American troops/govt. officials freak out and use extreme force. When we commit these atrocious acts they use it to throw it back in our faces and strengthen their base. What is so hard to understand about this? We always hear that they "hate our freedom", and since 9/11 we have had some of our rights taken away from us and we have lowered our moral standards. How is that not a victory for them?
tallestmidgetEVER 2 years ago
You believe they "hate our freedom" because thats what George Bush told you? they hate us because our culture is infringing on theirs and it is smothering their customs and religion. We consider our nation to be the best in the world. We say this while pointing to our values and moral code. But if we violate those for the security of the nation.....what exactly are we securing? Thats a real question. Please answer this one.
WolfRester 2 years ago
We're safegaurding our borders and doing whatever it takes to prevent another 9/11 from ever happening again. That's why. They murdered and brought terror to the United States and they committed an act of war..They were the ones who started it..We're going to be the ones who will finish it..No matter what it takes, No matter how long it takes..They WILL face justice..When its over. we can debate all we want about it. it wont bring back the dead. but it will prevent another attack from happening.
Paladin1441 2 years ago
what is justice though? We consider what we are doing justice, but we are stooping to their levels to bring it to them. If what we are doing is no better then what they are doing, does that make what they are doing justice as well? Its not worth protecting the nation if you are sacrificing everything the nation stands for to protect it.
WolfRester 2 years ago
Justice is to bring those who attacked us to answer for what they did. those who planned, those who financed and thosed who committed acts against us. Al Qaeda declared war on us in 1996 that stated that ALL Americans are targets...ALL americans
Paladin1441 2 years ago

Paladin1441 2 years ago
You really think that by lowering our moral standards and torturing people we are becoming a safer nation? If anything that lowers us to their level, and opens the doors for future American troops and civilians to be tortured. Not to mention, if you were being tortured, wouldn't you say ANYTHING to make it stop? Also, it has yet to be proven -even once- that these tactics prevented any kind of attack. So before you go and regurgitate more Cheney bs sit down and think critically for once.

I think Midget, i think of my soldiers who were killed by them.

The fact that you are scared to death of terrorist bogeymen does not justify torture and human rights violations. You likely live in some small hick town in the bible belt that would never be a target anyway.
The irrational fear of frightened little wimps like you cowering in the corner does not justify torture.

You're rationalizing the use of torture.
In WWII we did not torture the Japanese although they attacked our homeland and tortured our troops.
The reason we did not is because we, as Americans, do not believe in torture.

Nah, I'm just one of those guys who fight your battles for ya.,and i'm one of many..We just want to win this damn war

P.S. I'm not a guy, just so you know.
