Derek Pegues gets JACKED by SEC Referees

Fair enough call...the QB was clearly going out of bounds, and Pegues didn't need to throw that hit. It could've gone both ways, and this time like most times they PROTECTED THE QB. quit crying you babies.

Believe me, as a former MLB myself I would take every chance I got to beat a QB to pulp..but I also knew that I'd get called for a hit like this. The hit itself was clean, it was just the timing and location that got called.

It goes both ways, you never want YOUR QB to get hit then..but you also never want that to get called when it's your player making the hit.

@TheBulldawg4life Him having the first down is questionable actually. The ball would have to be measured to have even determined that, He was probably short. The difference here is it was called a "late hit" when there was nothing late about it. If you want to say "roughing the QB" you have more of a leg to stand on. But then again, this wouldn't have even been called had it been any other running position. If the QB wants to cross the line and run it he should deal with the consequences

If you don't want him to get hit like this then don't run him, tell him to slide, or just throw the ball out of bounds. The QB already has enough tools to avoid hits like this. It's insane that the NCAA feels the need to give him more without giving the same position that do the same stuff (running) any added protection.

@killerfurball you didn't play football did you? even on the HS level a linebacker can destroy a QB's life hitting him the wrong way..QB's wear less pads than kickers, have more to do than everyone else on the field, and have to do this all while being attacked by guys weighing 100+ pounds more than them.

QB's run on naked boots like this, on broken plays, and when they see a first down marker they can reach.

RB's wear proper padding to take a hit, they know how to run to avoid getting detroyed

@TheBulldawg4life OLB and HB, but thanks for trying. Less pads then kickers? Yeah sure I will believe that when they stop making those vests that cover the midsection of the QB. They wear shoulder pads like that of a HB, and unlike a kicker have knee padding. WR's and HB's probably take more punishment per game then a QB even accounting for sacks.

Playing QB is extremely demanding, mentally and physically, and that's before you get hit by someone who weighs as much or more than you running at 20 MPH who is trying to break you in half.

Protecting the QB is vital to football, more so than any other position. I hate it just as much as the next guy..but I understand it and completely agree with it.

Once again I remind you the QB has the option to slide to avoid a hit and if hit while sliding it should be a penalty. But it quite honestly is getting to the point where the QB can disregard these options and get the other team in trouble, that is bogus and you know it. Why should a LB be penalized because the QB brought on the hit?

Ya it's excessive (I personally feel no one should be protected if you're wearing a helmet) sometimes but it makes sense. QB's make the money, get the trophies, and look the prettiest..it may be football, but it's still a beauty contest.
