  • Thanks for sharing your work. What flugelhorn do you play?

  • Thanks for listening. I play a Kanstul 1525.

  • may i ask.. what is clipped to your bell?

  • Sure. In a few of my videos I've clipped a cheap condenser microphone to my bell.

  • could you tell me what brand and where to get such a microphone... i would like to try it out.

  • nice

  • Ed, I have enjoyed everyone of your flugelhorn videos. I know your main instrument is the trumpet. How do you compare the two as far as personal enjoyment, and ease of playing?

  • Hello, thanks a lot! In my opinion the flugelhorn is easier to play but the trumpet is more responsive. It's also easier to produce a wide variety of sounds on the trumpet - i.e. you can't get a bright sound out of a flugel but you can certainly play an open, mellow, flugel like sound on the trumpet - especially with an open mouthpiece. Also consider all of the mutes available for the trumpet.

  • @uncledan1 I once heard Freddie Hubbard say "you play the trumpet, and make love to a flugelhorn."
