Ed, I have enjoyed everyone of your flugelhorn videos. I know your main instrument is the trumpet. How do you compare the two as far as personal enjoyment, and ease of playing?
Hello, thanks a lot! In my opinion the flugelhorn is easier to play but the trumpet is more responsive. It's also easier to produce a wide variety of sounds on the trumpet - i.e. you can't get a bright sound out of a flugel but you can certainly play an open, mellow, flugel like sound on the trumpet - especially with an open mouthpiece. Also consider all of the mutes available for the trumpet.
