The fundamental problem is extreme wealth inequality which has developed in America over the last thirty years. And it is continuing to get worse. This is bad for any society because the great mass of the population become unable to spend sufficiently to sustain economic growth and the economy atrophies. Check out the GINI coefficient and you will see our problem. You look like you would make a good professor.
So far, the cop brutality is mild compared to what this country can do. I was around in 1968, and I think you'll see paramilitary machine gunning the crowds by next year. Also, you need to be prepared for your beloved country shutting down the entire Internet. That future possibility may be a good motivation to meet and maybe join a local occupation movement. Then you won't need Internet to accomplish political change.
Anonymous didn't start Occupy Wall Street! You were not raised with different ideas your just not ideological, at least the majority of you. This is a fight for your future you should support this as much as you can. Don't let them scare you. Just watch the live stream of Occupy Wall Street live stream and you will learn more. They are stealing our future and corrupting our government while taking away our right to speak.
When you said Anonymous, I think you meant to say the A.N.S.W.E.R. coalition. Airline pilots were at Occupy Wall Street today. Anonymous is the hacker group. Answer coalition is a protester group, and it's THE protester group that organized the bulk of Occupy Wall Street. I had a job when I was 14. I'm not saying it's good to work that young, but it can be. Just not cleaning filth, nor anything dangerous. If you don't get a job, dedicate a good part of your day to working out, lift weights.
The acronym ANSWER will tell you what the protests are about, a bit. It stands for Act Now to Stop War and End Racism. What you have to do, to figure out what these people are asking for, is pause the video and read the signs. In general, they're demanding justice, peace and livable conditions, like living wage, stop pollution, stop banker fraud, reinstitute Glass Stegal banking regulations, that's the protections that were made during the great depression and revoked by congress in 1999.
Don't take as real this nonsense the media is trying to sell, saying they don't have any clear demands. The people who started Occupy Wall street have 10 years of studying the government and 10 years of protesting experience behind them, they know the range of issues that are being contrived by the bankers, from phony news to militarism, government corruption, corporate government cronyism, police brutality, pollution of the air and water, the mass extinction that's happening right now... AND...
...AND... They want it ALL addressed and fixed. The bankers are controlling the government by "campaign donations", basically bribery that the government renamed and decided not to prosecute. So that's why they're in front of the bankers work place, Wallstreet, where they write up their economy damaging derivatives contracts. About the year 2008, the derivatives market was about $700 TRILLION dollars.
Derivatives allow the bankers to profit off destroying the economy by gambling against corporations on the stock exchange. In 2008 at 700 TRILLION dollars, the derivatives market was worth 14X the whole worlds GDP. Mind you it only began in the year 1999, when congress did away with the great depression protections called the Glass Stegal act, that then trading derivatives became legal, according to the criminal congress that passed the measure.
I know some of the people at occupy wall street, good guys. Thanks for making your video and thanks for any support and attention you can lend to any of the issues being raised at Occupy Wall Street. If anybody wants to lend material support, I suggest a bag of oranges. I know those protesters hearts would melt if someone brought them a bag of oranges to support the cause.
you are bright, but very opinionated and sheltered. most cops at the protest were good cops, but a handful were bully-cops who targeted people with video cameras. cops learned after rodney king - video camers = enemy number one if you are a criminal in uniform. the majority of cops there were good police officers. you are wrong in your assumption that protesters "lashed out", no-one there would push a cop, not if they can stand back and watch that level of brutality without retaliating violently

@wire The 99% didn't screw up though. That's what's wretched about the whole thing. The 1% screwed up by gambling in the derivatives market. To cover their massive debt, they began to "adjust" the variable rates on people's mortgage payments and that 1% forced bankruptcy and poverty on the 99%, (probably really closer to 70%) by setting their "Adjustable Rate Mortgages" at what they could not possibly pay. THEN that 1% who control lending, shut off lending to businesses, jobs market collapsed...
So then even people who didn't have "Adjustable Rate Mortgages", but Fixed Rate Mortgages, but who had lost their jobs, couldn't pay their mortgages either. Now, the banks have shut off lending, for the most part, for 3 years! That's the crux of the problem, that's holding the economy down, is the banks stopped lending because the gov. gave them all that cash, without any strings attached, they didn't make any demands, they just gave gambling addicts more cash and they took it and hoarded it.
@wire2u The whole thing is contrived by those criminal banksters who are intently killing people with economics. ALL that would have to be done, to get the economy moving again is somebody who intends to lend money, take over the banks. If the banks start lending, the economy will start moving. Instead, The Fed Reserve Bank, has been printing money, buying stocks to prop up wall street, that wall street is then hoarding even more money in bank vaults.

Try to carry a sign that says 9/11 was an inside job in this protest and see how fast you are escorted away

when 99% screw up, they lose house, job and everything.
When 1% screw up, they got the bailout money from the government.
They then put the money in their own pockets as bonus.
Now they obviously screw up again, ......at this moment.....
Occupy Wall Street want them in jail before they could be awarded 2nd round of bailout. I think that's whats happening.
