I would have been scared out of my mind from experiences from last summer, the wave was like maybe 5 feet tall and I was getting a bit scared then it crashed on me and I was struggling trying to get out from underwater with my surfboard at least 15-20 feet away from me, and now I picture being that guy in the video and I would like get a heart attack. Not a tsunami. It comes from storms in the north Pacific ocean travelling thousands of miles, gaining strength and finally hitting the reef and forming a wave. That reef is the first thing that stops the wave travelling from thousands of miles away. Amazing mother nature at work.
That's not totally true that bigger is stupider... for me yes, but not for the guys I mention. Case in point: Clyde Aikau. He is very comfortable in that stuff, whereas I'd be very uncomfortable (panic stricken). Same with Peter Cole and he's in his 80's. How they do it is a mystery to me.
I guess Ken doesn't do that stuff any more, but in his day he surely rocked. Every era has the guy who pushes it one step beyond: Downing, Curren, Noll, Little, Bradshaw, Parsons, Clark-Jones, Hamilton. These guys and many others capture our imaginations with these incredible feats. Rock on!

I work since 22 Years as a mountain guide and skiing teacher in the Austrian alps, I have been skiing before for 8 years for the Austrian race department, I climb since I am 10 and surf since I am 14 in Spain and Portugal.
