a nice party trick, but as a person who has had quite a few cockatiels over the years, these birds are here to be our companions and we their guardians....instead of in this case they being here to train to go through hoops - this isn't causing the bird to think...all the bird has learnt is "if i go through all these hoops with this ball, I'll get a seed if I'm lucky" -
i know how you could make this really cool, set it up like a basketball court, do the same thing with the rings (to crawl through), then setup players around it by just printing pics off internet or something, then instead of having it put the ball in ducktape rolls make it put it in a mini basketball ring, then it would be playing basketball!!!
@HDhilaryduff1217 im not sure how many years does it take him to grow fully but a cokatiel lives 12-15 and can reach up to 20 years old and if ur lucky he might reach 30!
oh my gosh this is really good! you have done a wonderful job with your cockatiel! it really has a bond with you and trust you alot i can already tell. I have one he is a year and a half and he is really smart too. if you wanna bond more with him you should take showers with him. just buy him a perch and then put it in the shower (make sure the water isnt how or cold and that it doesnt pelt him hard.) i do this every shower i take with mine and we have bonded alot more!
Hi, I train my bird about 3 times in a day and about 15 to 20 mints each time. The point is dont make the bird get bored of training, keep the bird interested in training just like playing time for them. Hope that helps :)
thanks for the info. Im getting my tiel in 5 - 6 weeks now, from an already hatched batch of eggs. Iv made a new youtube channel for my bird ''ProjectTiel'' so im going to re-subscribe using that channel. I will be following your videos as they come. thanks again
how did you start, my tame tiel doesnt want to do anything but sit on my shoulder and whine to be pet, i try show her anything else she isnt interested and walks off to my shoulder again.
was there any regim or anything you did at the start when training yours?
I started to train my bird when he was 2 and a half months old rite after he's fully weaned. it all started from Clicker Target training and everything will come along...
Patience, lots of Treats and a Clicker is a must :)
My cockatiel is 3 months old and he knows to follow the target stick. I don't get how your supposed to teach him how to pick up objects and go through tunnels?
I am sorry but i dont agree with the clicker see how you said what you wanted the bird to do then you gave him a treat then you use the unnessary clicker its just a extra.. i have a new tiel and i only had him for 4 to 5 days after he got use to me i trained him the kiss comand and that took 10 mins i could teach my bird to do what you just showed in 20 mins or so, no offense.. i hate clickers lol. my tiel is 2 years old and very smart.. I will post a video of my bird doing something like this.
This man passed away from cancer. Rest in Peace
